1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: November 06, 2018, 03:59:04 PM
Yeah, these additional 25% tariffs are definitely killing us miners here in the US. Quite frustrating.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the new AntMiner DR3 (Decred) on: September 23, 2018, 12:08:53 PM
That power efficiency is so so bad, if you compare it to the WhatsMiner D1 44Th/s.

This antminer takes about three times the power per hash.

Great point, but keep in mind that the Pangolin Whatsminer D1 is out of stock and costs roughly 5 times more (total).
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Bitmain launches the new AntMiner DR3 (Decred ASIC Miner) on: September 23, 2018, 11:54:10 AM
Important Stats
Hash-rate: 7.8TH/s
Power consumption: 1410 watts
Shipping date for batch 1: September 26-30, 2018
Limit: 2 per customer
Base price: $673.00

Keep in mind, these miners carry a 2.6% + 25% tariff now when purchasing inside the United States (plus shipping and PSU).

At current DCR price and current difficulty, CryptoCompare's mining calculator estimates $530/month in profit at $0.16/kWh. Obviously, this will change as the price/difficult changes.
4  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer V9 4TH on: June 19, 2018, 06:09:33 PM
I've seen several comments about high numbers of rejected shares.  I'm having the same issue unless I mine on extremely low difficulty.  Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

Hi JWright412,

Most often, high reject rates are related to having poor latency between you and the pool you're using. The 2nd most common cause is an overwhelmed (or poorly configured) pool. Rejected shares typically do not indicate a problem with the device itself. I would highly recommend trying a different pool. We have found pool.bitcoin.com to work quite well with our V9s during testing.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: June 14, 2018, 06:16:19 PM
How long between when you received the refund email and the BCH showed up in your wallet?  I got an email last night (June 13th) at 9pm, said to expect refund around June 12th but nothing so far.

Same here

Yeah, we received a few emails saying that they have sent the bitcoin cash, but we haven't received it yet. I'm going to wait a few more days before contacting Bitmain.

Just grabbed a few! I'm loving the low power requirements.
7  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Halong Mining announces the T2, a 17-17.5TH+ Miner on: April 25, 2018, 12:08:08 AM
Wow, that was a fast turn-around from the T1 to the T2. I can't wait to do a review!
8  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] AntMiner V9 4TH/s Bitcoin / Bitcoin Cash Miners on Amazon for $291 Each on: March 25, 2018, 05:24:23 PM

Just got my new V9 and I need to know how to access it, to set it up. I know not to set static ip til I update.
but with my S3 i just type in the ip address and im in, but how do I find the address for this V9?

You can either log into your router to view the list of connected devices (dhcp table) or you can use an IP scanner. I prefer the router method since there is no additional software required. If you choose the IP scanner method, I would recommend using www.advanced-ip-scanner.com.
11  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer V9 4TH on: March 18, 2018, 02:19:55 AM
Wow, that's bad engineering if setting a static IP address can actually brick the machine.

Looks like a new firmware was released on March 12th. We're testing it now to see if it fixes the problem. We're planning to communicate with all existing customers soon and it would be nice to have a fix in-hand.

Update: We've tested a couple units running the stock firmware from February 26th and could not reproduce the issue. All V9s successfully accepted static IP addresses and were still accessible after a reboot. We also tested the new March 12th firmware and found the same thing. We have a couple of V9s being returned to us right now that supposedly have the issue, so we'll update when we get our hands on them to troubleshoot.
12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer V9 4TH on: March 17, 2018, 08:20:52 PM
We're seeing a TON of demand for the V9 series from customers in Venezuela. Seems like 2/3 of our bulk orders are going to freight forwarding companies in Miami. Plenty of folks from countries with subsidized electricity rates are happy to have these little guys.

Side note, we can confirm that setting a static IP address will brick the controller. We've had to replace 3 units thus far from customers who found this out the hard way.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer X3 -- 220KH+ Cryponight - 550W on: March 17, 2018, 01:53:07 AM
I understand the indignation but let's face it - Bitmain isn't really lying about this. They don't make any claims about profitability. People just need to do their homework and not buy it if the numbers don't add up.

Shush you silly person! Being rational is not welcomed here during the "Bitmain is a scam" parade! Just because Bitmain consistently delivers what they advertise on time and to spec (albeit sometimes low quality) doesn't mean that we shouldn't be righteously upset about their success! After all, they are forcing us to buy these things after all.

/s

In all seriousness though, I wonder if there could ever be a business model in which the mining manufacturer allowed customers to 'finance' a mining device by taking a portion of the mining profits as a fee during mining. It would incentivize the manufacturer to release the best and most reliable hardware possible while also allowing a much larger customer base. The manufacturer ends up with a great recurring revenue stream with zero hardware maintenance while the customer gets a subsidized miner that earns a bit less than it would have without the fees. One obvious challenge would be how to secure the miner from being tampered with. It would also probably need to VPN back to the manufacturer's pool so that the fees couldn't easily be hijacked with a simple mining pool proxy.
14  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Legit Resellers for Antminers on: March 16, 2018, 11:43:17 AM
We sell on Amazon and have over 500 reviews with a 100% feedback score. Just watch out for cryptocrane.info, they're a scam site that is impersonating us.

Anyone else deal with CryptoCrane? I sent them a PM here on the board, and also a public note on the V9 thread that I'd done so, and they ignored me entirely. If they're a legit seller, I'm not sure I'd understand why they would ignore a potential customer who's asking about payment methods.

I told them in PM that I'd be fine just using PayPal. They seemed legit enough to trust... but then ignored me... so maybe my trust was misplaced?

Can anyone vouch?

Hey vegascoinpool, most of our potential customers message us directly through our Amazon store - so please accept our apologies for not monitoring bitcointalk more closely. We do accept PayPal on our eBay store for the V9.
15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: March 16, 2018, 01:22:52 AM
for anyone placing a large order from Bitmain to the USA, did you need a customs bond?

Yes, we had to have one once our order sizes went above $50k.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer X3 -- 220KH+ Cryponight - 550W on: March 15, 2018, 12:04:59 PM
How many of these miners would it take to equal the current global hash rate? With XMR's global hash rate at around 1GH/s right now, that equals about 4,000 AntMiner X3s (assuming they'll actually be closer to 250kh/s). Knowing Bitmain, they'll sell 40,000 X3s, which would increase the hash rate by 20x. It's not about the $12k price to me as much as the fact that it doesn't take many X3s to drastically increase the global hash rate and the fact that XMR will likely hard-fork away from the algorithm used by the X3. Even we (CryptoCrane) don't plan on speculating with this one - and we're well known for speculating on risky miners!

I'm measuring 950 watts from the wall when using an APW3++ on 220v power.
18  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer V9 4TH on: March 08, 2018, 03:25:29 AM
A walk around the v9.  Smaller and lighter than s9.  Also is brand new.

https://youtu.be/269S2Njib4k

Are u sure it is brand new? Why would they produce V9 over S9?

In exact condition as my s9..as new.  Smells new...dont know.  As long as it hashes, its all good.

I can confirm they seem completely new to me as well. No evidence of dust or signs of wear.
19  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] AntMiner V9 4TH/s Bitcoin / Bitcoin Cash Miners on Amazon on: March 07, 2018, 04:22:03 AM
Hey everyone, we just temporarily dropped the price to $399 each. We also initiated $100 partial refunds for each customer who already purchased to compensate them for the difference.
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer V9 4TH on: March 07, 2018, 04:20:03 AM
Hey everyone,

We just (temporarily) lowered our price to $399/each for the V9 if anyone wants one. Here's the link to our Amazon listing. Yes, we're taking a slight loss on each one - but we're out of space at our warehouse and need to move a few of these quickly! We also initiated $100 partial refunds for each customer who already purchased to compensate them for the difference.
