1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Spot ETFs approved, Bitcoin is not fraud. Where is Jamie Dimon? on: January 12, 2024, 12:21:55 PM

I see that most people on this forum live in the illusion that the approval of spot BTC ETFs in the US is a sign that "they", and especially Gensler, think positively about Bitcoin, but the truth is that nothing has changed in this regard.

That the SEC approved these spot ETFs only means they finally caved under the pressure from the likes of Black rock and Grayscale. The latter having won a court case of sorts over them and it will be unwise to think that because Gary Gensler approved those applications, it means he's now Bitcoin friendly

We're all aware of how much the SEC will do anything to have prolonged these ETFs but I guess the fact that many eyes are on them sort of changed the plan.

For Dimon's case, it's not news of how apathetic he is to Bitcoin and as long as people are entitled to giving their opinions, they should do it as it won't change the fact that Bitcoin is a moving train that can't be stopped and if for anything I guess that's the reason for his chronic displeasure.

Sometimes I wonder why they feel the financial institutions are less prone to money laundering or fraudulent activities and prefer to paint Bitcoin to be the bad guy. Is it that the financial institutions are more secure and have a tight security?
2  Economy / Economics / Re: Habits that can lead to your financial failure in 2024 on: January 03, 2024, 01:09:14 PM

You can add your point so that others can learn

---Being desperate
---Repeating a bad process and expecting different results

Some people get too desperate to hit the jackpot that they forget to follow guidelines or even make their research, making them easy targets of scammers and instead of learning their lesson, they still go ahead and make drastic decisions that lead them to fall again, its just like a cycle.

The above mentioned points go hand in hand because if you look at it, people tend to make decisions that aren't healthy and when they get burned, instead of learning, they repeat the process, only difference is they come from a different angle. Some of them do not learn until their finances are badly affected.
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: January 03, 2024, 12:56:57 PM
PSG is a good club that can produce many goals but I'm a bit sceptic that they will do such when they meet Toulouse tonight. The visitors aren't much of a threat in their league but maybe since this is a league cup, they could prove stubborn and make the game uncomfortable for the Ligue 1 gaint because it seems like since Toulouse can't beat PSG in the league this encounter could be an opportunity to get something out of this game.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: November 25, 2023, 04:46:11 PM

It seems you underrate Newcastle. Both teams are good but this season,  Newcastle seems to be more consistent in their performance than Chelsea and this is being shown currently in the scoreline in the game with Chelsea.
Newcastle is currently two goals ahead of Chelsea. And while Chelsea may have some chance at staging a comeback, it’s slowly slipping away as the time counts on.
It’s the 73rd minute now and Newcastle doesn’t seem to want to relent as they’re still pressing hard for another goal. It seems the pressure is a lot on Chelsea as James has managed to get himself a second yellow card and has been sent off.
It would be difficult for Chelsea to comeback from this since they are now down to 10 men, with Reece James being sent off for a foul he committed in the 73rd minutes. The way I see the game, Newcastle won't be bothered at all because second half, Chelsea failed to bring the confidence with which they used to draw the first half, we see them making silly mistakes and if you ask me, I feel Pochettino has thrown in the towel already.

Honestly, with their stellar performance before the international break, I expected they will demolish Newcastle but no, it just proves the point that they usually perform poorly whenever they come back from an international break. Well for me, I'm tired of seeing them in the 10th spot, it's as if they are not progressing.

Edit: Newcastle have taken the opportunity of the red card to punish Chelsea as the scoreline is 4-1! Omg! You can always count on the Magpies to deliver without disappointment and I'm very anxious to hear what Pochettino has to say to the fans.
5  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Binance CEO don plead guilty to Money Laundering, Wetin go do Binance now? on: November 22, 2023, 02:45:20 PM
Nothing go happen. Atleast nothing yet. The guy break the US anti money laundering law and as nah human being wey him be, there's always a tendency to make mistakes. Like this he gats step down so him fit properly face him punishment wey be to pay the sum of $50m. This him punishment wey him dey face happen to be one of the biggest penalties wey don shele for US history.

Which excuse we fit give for Zhao Changpeng fuck up? But where me I dey concerned now the way all this big exchanges dey drop or dey face punishment. Recently, nah Bittrex, now Binance. We still dey look how bad this news go affect Bitcoin Sha.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: No Correlation Between Academic Success and Financial Success on: November 22, 2023, 02:27:51 PM
In my country, it's rare to see those who were brilliant in school landing good jobs after their higher institutions that's why you often hear some saying schooling is scam but I would say everyone has where he excels at and just like the op mentioned that it boils down to who is more courageous to charter into areas no one has ventured, for me that is what sets the two apart.

There are different types of students and amongst them, there's those who do better than others and are tagged "very intelligent" whole there's those known as the dullards. Well, educationally, they may not be sound but that does not mean the end for them. Some people measure levels of success with how many degrees one has and others, what you've achieved or accomplished. It just depends on who's measuring.

I'd prefer if we had an auto save function like EarnOnVictor suggested because for some of us who use mobile phones and are not making use of an Opera Mini browser and forget to preview, that means all we've written goes to dust? Well, for me, before I make a post, I first of all jot it down so if on the off chance such a thing happens, I just go back to where I wrote them. That way I don't have to cry over spilled milk.

9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Enjoy being a newbie on: November 20, 2023, 03:48:01 PM
Most of the times, these newbies come here and create threads that ask questions that should enlighten them more about the forum and crypto but you find that some don't bother to read! Its as of that thread that they created was for creation purpose alone and as the Op noticed that some create threads and don't follow the discussion in it and this is true because most of them don't really have much to contribute and even when others have helpfully supplied answers there's little to no urge to read further so they can contribute too, simply because probably Mr A posted and his work was merited and theirs wasn't, so it kind of dampens their desire to ask.

Where I come from, there's the saying that someone who asks questions, hardly misses his way but I feel some newbies are afraid to do so because they feel what they want to ask has been treated and prefer instead to not ask so they can be cleared. The essence of coming into the forum, aside from sig campaigns, is to learn about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, how to make good investments and so on but that purpose gets defeated if you choose to treat every potential knowledge given here lightly or turn tail and run once you get "attacked" by higher ranking members.
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will SEC delay on Spot ETF approval do to Bitcoin's price?@ on: November 19, 2023, 12:00:52 PM
I am not sure if all of us are aware of not as SEC has delayed their decisions on Spot ETF application but they were supposed to take the decision by now and will this delay cause any set back in price ? People were speculating that there would be a price drop before halving and that didn't happened due to ETF as it helped increasing the value and since it's been delayed now will it cause any impact for the Bitcoin price? if yes then how much would it be and will it be that way till halving?
I doubt that the ETFs approval being halted will change anything. It was on the news yesterday that the SEC will halt the approval due to an inadequately regulated crypto market large enough to stop manipulation and whwn this came in, the price of Bitcoin was $36,527.76 and today, it's price has $36,582.37 and if anything it has gone up instead of down.

Bitcoin has been existing long before this ETFs and to say that they contribute to its price growth will not be fair. The way I see these ETFs, they are only a temporary event that will pass so I don't think affect its price much.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Massive influx of scammers activity during the bull season. on: November 19, 2023, 11:08:32 AM
For some reason, being hyper makes one slightly oblivious and to an extent greedy. This is the festive period and since there will much expenses people would be looking to add more to their income, so when things like this come up, they jump into it without making proper research. I watched on advert where an individual was paying money two times for a service simply because it was masquerades as another thing and this is the case of some victims who get scammed.

Just as you will not easily give up information about your bank details to an unknown number calling and claiming to be a manager from your bank, that's the same way you should not easily click on any link you know nothing about or send Bitcoin to an unknown address simply because they promised you 10x gain.

Theymos works in a mysterious ways..
I haven't been here long enough but I think this answers what you wrote

There are many english mods that are not active I don't know why theymos has leave them to remain there instead of changing and putting more active and vibrant user to act on that role.
here.

If I were to suggest I'd say the op submit an application, maybe it may get a faster audience than if he states his desire here. For now, he's the only person indicating an interest and as such putting up a poll won't be necessary, it will only take time if anything.
13  Economy / Economics / Re: Life is cheaper with Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general on: November 18, 2023, 12:32:22 PM
It's easier to lead your life with Bitcoin than the fiat of your country because that way you know your holdings are safe provided you have your keys because you won't be receiving messages from your bank telling you they took a certain amount to maintain your credit card or bank without your permission and also your privacy is assured unlike the traditional banks where they want to be all about your business using the guise of KYC and due diligence services.

With the way inflation is biting hard, your millions in the bank become worthless as you won't be able to get the exact value for it. Bitcoin makes life cheaper but if it doesn't get accepted as a world means of exchange, we'd still need to convert it to fiat when we want to purchase what we need and to me, there lies the problem.
14  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Economic challenge shouldn't be limitation to your project on: November 18, 2023, 12:14:53 PM
I totally agree with wetin you tok for hear, Op. These economic situation don dey since only say e no bin dey as harsh as e dey now and wetin we sopoz understand be say days dey go, cost of tins no go dey as e bin dey before and if we begin to blame am for why we never for accomplish anything for life then we never start.
Nah during difficult situations you go know whether you dey capable to handle tins and if you no get laid down plan on how to cope, you fit get pushed to the side.

Nah who fail to plan dey plan to fail. In life, ups and downs dey nai make when person dey make budget, e dey necessary to plan for miscellaneous so that e no go warrant you to touch pass as you plan. As the economy dey, e no go make sense if you dey spend based on impulse or because you feel say you want the tin. If you plan to buy something tangible, say land, nah to carefully work towards am, avoid unnecessary spending and jolly wey no dey needed because if any of us don observe, nah that time you get something you wan carry money do, nah the time careless bills go dey come up.
15  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Is Nigeria a failed project ? on: November 18, 2023, 11:54:03 AM
Nigeria na project? Make ona no dey confuse person for grammar which one be project again? Anyways project or no project, Nigeria don fail as an economy, many reasons dey to prove Nigeria as a failed economy:
If naija no be project, wetin e be? You wan call am investment ? According to wetin Op tok say when we bin get independence, the plan nah to make the country dey amongst the developed countries and if that no be project, I no see wetin be o.
For the lecturer to tag am like that e mean say e don study how the country be and if I go drop my opinion, I go say naija nah still work in progress. Wetin make I yarn like dis? I still believe say the country get the ability to bring the naira to dollar rate back to #1=$1 and fix some of the issues wey dey trouble us like insecurity, poor education,  poor health facilities and even the judiciary system only if we allow a good leader wey go rule us. Corruption don eat at us sotey we don decide say nah the way to go be that but if we decide say enough is enough, we fit put in good leaders wey go change the status quo.

Many of us don lose hope in the country and as such don agree say no beta fit come out again and the best tin to do nah to Japa but if we kool down reason am, doz places wey we wan run go get their own yawa but why e come look like say them get hope pass us nah be say them put their foot down on some things. I know say that dream wey our founding fathers bin get wey make them struggle to ensure our independence go one day come to actuality, it's just a matter of when the citizens go decide say e don do.

16  Other / Meta / Re: Why did a mod delete my posts from 7-2 months ago that didn't violate any rules? on: October 18, 2023, 09:27:27 PM

There is nothing anyone can do. This happens a lot. Threads get moved, and the campaign manager won't count them as valid posts. Not only that, some users would delete their own posts to match merits and activity. Although doing this gains them nothing, But they delete them anyway. If one made a mistake or made low-quality posts, it is justifiable to delete them to make their account more clean. But deleting an entire thread with 2–3 pages of comments is literally the work of a fool. It really annoys me. If you always wanted to delete, then why make one in the first place?
This means you are telling the op to move on right? That's the same thing for me. I see no reason why some users make a mountain out of a molehill sometimes. These things occur all the time and the mod had a reason to have his post deleted but he didn't check properly to know why, all he thought was maybe the mod had a personal beef with him.

Maybe for the fun of it. There's a certain kick some of them get by just seeing their posts and activities at par with each other. I guess if it where possible to also streamline the merits, who knows..
17  Other / Meta / Re: Why did a mod delete my posts from 7-2 months ago that didn't violate any rules? on: October 17, 2023, 02:14:03 PM

I am in a campaign as my mining income is down. I also am in a campaign as I donate to multiple people on the forum.

So I normally do not care when I am deleted or if a thread is moved from a section my campaign won't pay.

I have been in this campaign for 5-6 weeks.

I made 500 plus posts only need 200 to get full pay. But 2 threads were moved to sections my campaign won't pay and I lost about 9 posts. Plus 1 thread was deleted so I lost 3 posts. And those 12 annoyed me as I am now being paid so that could cost me money.  That I am donating to various projects.

So I understand the op's annoyance. At op make them a bit longer as they were pretty much on point but short.
This sounds like you make ample posts so don't hear stories that touches the heart Cheesy. But that is an advice I'd keep in mind when I enter my own campaign...all I'm trying to say is he shouldn't be ruffled by that. Maybe it was only done to call his attention because who knows if he would have noticed if that didn't happen.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON Qualifiers 2023 on: October 17, 2023, 10:01:04 AM
I dont know how Nigeria will be able to succeed at the AFCON tournament if we keep playing like this.  Imagine drawing against Saudi Arabia and then winning 3-2 to a 10 man Mozambique. I was sorely disappointed. This morning, technical director of the team, Austin Eguavon telling us that the Nigerians have all it takes to win the AFCON? With the way we are playing? Or with the way Francis Odoho has managed to concede four goals in two games?

We've got Ivory coast, Guinea Bissau, Guinea to contend with and we know how stubborn these nations can be when they want to. So if we find it difficult bearing Saudi Arabia and Mozambique in the friendlies, is it in the tournament we will do better?
19  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nah lack of common sense or greed?? on: October 17, 2023, 03:43:32 AM

For Me, I feel say the best thing we fit do for this matter na Sensitize and teach pipo the dangers wey surround accident tankers. Especially for individuals wey dey live for communities along the Expressways. Working together with the communities development committee/council and Youth. As statistics don show say na youth dey be the victims of this explosion.
My guy, my pipo dey tok say "fly wey not dey hear word go folo dead bodi enter grave". E no get as e wan be, if you like put am for news or anyhow you wan take pass the message on the dangers of taking fuel from a fallen tanker, pipo go still pay deaf ear rush go when anoda opportunity come. You know wetin e be? A litre of fuel now nah #630. Calculate am by say 25litres wey dem fit fill and no be just one jerrican Dem go fill o. The idea of the moni wey them stand to gain go outweigh the risk to their lives and nai make everytime we still dey get scores of casualties.

I am a bit confused by the title though. Is it me or is it a typo?
Op, you shouldn't get worried that few of your posts got deleted; just continue posting less one lined replies. I went through your post history and saw you contribute well but it will be more appreciated if you put more effort.

Post deletion happens to everyone here and it's even more upsetting when you are in a campaign and due to your posts getting deleted, you couldn't meet up the post counts.
