1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do people lose in gambling and still go ahead and bet more? on: May 08, 2024, 02:36:13 PM
I've a friend of mine who always complain that ever since he started gambling he haven't won a good amount, instead he'll be winning less money than what he expected but he can't stop. So I'm asking what do you suggest he should do at this case. For me I told him that he should know that gambling it's a game of risk and luck, but with the constant betting you might win the amount you've at mind someday. So what are your suggestions towards this.
Sometimes addiction could be the reason why some persons cannot take a break or probably get to quit gambling because they are addicted and almost have no control over their actions so it's very possible they are not going to stop provided they have got the money they can spend on gambling they will always have to visit the casino meanwhile some just keep believing if they continue trying they are definitely going to get lucky one day and probably get to recover all they have lost to gambling.

Suggesting, I will say he should try changing his strategy and try improving his statistical knowledge of the games on which he gambling because that's the bases up on which most gambler make their gambling decisions and place their bets then he should aswell get a good risk management plan so he doesn't get bankrupt almost immediately he just gets started.
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Max Win is the worst thing that could happen to you. on: May 08, 2024, 02:29:45 PM
Most casinos nowadays don't let you do the KYC process until they request it, this means you will not get KYCed unless a lot of money or fraud is involved, but it would be nice if users could do the KYC process before deciding if to deposit or not.

Well, this time i have 3 questions for the community, i want to see what people think about how gambling works nowadays.

If you could do KYC process before making a deposit, would you do it?

When a user wins a huge amount the real nightmare starts, the users have to complete the worst KYC process he will see in his life, so, should users be afraid of getting a Max Win?

Casinos ask for KYC to avoid money laundering, but if the gambler isn't able to give the requested data then the casino keeps the money. If the casino keeps the money isn't that Money laundering?
Well I think asking for KYC after max win its even a sign of a casino that isn't reputable so gambling with such casino is even a risk because there's  no assurance that you are going to be able to get your funds if you eventually get to win them so I think it's always better to do your research well before using any of the casinos and if they require KYC before deposit then make sure to do you KYC first aside which if they don't be very mindful to know if they will require it sometimes I'm the guy and they reason for which they don't do immediate KYC.

Some casinos actually get involved in laundry and it's no new actually sometimes they get fined by the government when they find out and even get to close them down in some cases, as regards to your last question a straight answer will be that yes it is.
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it proper for younger ones to gamble? on: May 08, 2024, 02:22:53 PM
Because nowadays the younger ones take gambling more seriously then school. Yesterday i got back home early so I decided to step out and go to a betting shop to catch some fun while gambling, I saw two teenagers gambling with their school uniforms on them.

I asked someone besides me why did they allow this boy's to come in with their uniforms and gamble, he said did they put any restrictions that younger ones are not allowed to gamble. I said but it's not normal, I replied him what if this are your kids would you be happy seeing them gambling with their uniforms on them. So what do you guys think about this situation at hand now.
It's very wrong to get into a casino or the gambling house as the case maybe to gamble with a school uniform it shows disrespect for the school a d a bad representation of such school. Secondly the age of such teenagers should aswell be put to consideration because almost every casino has got that age restriction so it's very far from it saying that gambling should be for everyone, there's an age limitations of which if these guys aren't up to the age I don't think they should be in that place at that time doing any form of gambling as it's very wrong and not responsible to do.

Gambling is ment for both Young and old but there's still restrictions as to the age limit with which you can gamble not minding if you are young , you must attain that age which accounts for your ability to make decisions as an adult.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETF good or bad? on: May 08, 2024, 02:15:15 PM
Hello,friends
How do you think the Bitcoin ETF approval will affect bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general in the future?
Will it trigger the development and acceptance of bitcoin as a new currency and investment instrument or will it drive us more and more under the control of governments?

-Regards
Actually Bitcoin ETF has got some benefits it's giving to cryptocurrency as a whole and this is something that were are not going to see taking place almost immediately, just maybe it may take sometime before it eventually comes to actually fulfilment because even after the ETF approval there will be need for some time for some others to looking in to adaptation thereafter but then Bitcoin becomes more acceptable and probably adoptable by many others by virtue if the ETF approval. This ETF approval isn't really going to give total control to the government but then there will be some form or local regulations because the Blockchain technology isn't such that you can gain absolute control over or further restrict.

In some regions there have been implications that have led to the bank of Bitcoin and some cases cryptocurrency at Large but then it still didn't give them the control or absolute regulatory power over Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trust bitcoin holders? on: May 08, 2024, 09:37:22 AM
Since bitcoin promotes mostly anti-government, banks, etc.

I am wondering; Do you trust bitcoin holders?
I don't really seem to understand your point of view when you make mention of been anti government because I doubt if you can successfully be an anti government even as a bitcoin holder, as bitcoin does not give you the power to fight the government so it cant seem to be a reason you become an anti government and moreover bitcoin itself isn't anti government or bank rather it goes beyond the barriers banks may suffer with universality and that has been the advantage of the decentralization of bitcoin all along even if some persons ha sin a way try using it against the banks and in other was for which it was intended, it still doesn't make bitcoin anti government or bank.

Trusting bitcoin holders is actually relative because you are definitely goin to do that at your own risk because everyone actually gets to hold bitcoin for reasons best known to them and so this variations can bring about the relativity in the purpose for holding of bitcoin but if its about them using it against the government or banks I cant say for sur but personally I don't hold bitcoin for any of such purposes and I can be trusted but I cant say for others.
6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why the rich win gambling more than the poor. on: May 06, 2024, 02:55:07 PM
In my opinion you are deluded. If a poor gambler losing his few dollars has to stop, the rich can again replenish the deposit and continue to play. Is that his advantage? If you think so, then remember that in the long run, the casino has an advantage over the player, which means that the probability that he will not be able to get his money back is much higher than the probability that he wins. That's why everyone has the same chance of winning at the casino, regardless of your bankroll.
i agree with what you said that everyone has the same chance at the casino regardless of how big their bankroll is. there is no guarantee that someone who has a 1000 usd bankroll can win more than someone who only has 10 usd in their bankroll, because both have the same chance of winning. it's possible that gamblers with smaller bankrolls win more often than those with larger bankrolls, since each person's luck can be different.
Interestingly the casino doesn't get to know if you are rich or poor once you place your bet you are like every other gambler to the so they don't get to give any preference that would in a way help your winnings or reduce your losses it's just a level ground for everyone without preference for class to come have fun and get the most off the opportunity except for the fact that some persons would want to leverage on the fact that some of the casinos give huge bonuses when stakes are high so they will want to utilize that and appear like a different class of gamblers but sadly the casino isn't aware of your class so you still don't get a preference away from that which the porr gambler happens to get.

The only advantage the rich gambler has got is higher profit since their stake is higher but checking it by percentage they are actually equal and no one seem to be earning higher especially If they both staked on the same game with the same odd at the same time.
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The shocking rate of women interested in gambling. on: May 06, 2024, 02:40:08 PM
Gambling is becoming more popular by the day and for countries like the developed world, gambling is no longer anything sort of introduction. Women are also becoming aware and interested in this gambling world Because of how innovative gambling is going and people bringing gambling to the digital platforms, it has become easier for women alike to access them from the comfort of their respective homes.
The fact that innovation has also be employed in gambling such that from the comfort of their homes both men and women can access the casino and gamble has removed every barrier from the way so now everyone can successfully gamble a s not having to visit a land casinos which would drag too many attention to them causing some of them not to have a good reason to actually get to gamble as they may not be comfortable especially women with the attention they will get going into a land casino.

I actually don't really see anything wrong in women gambling if only they can actually get to control their selves well enough not to get entrapped and probably become addicted because that's where the challenge has always been.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much of my salary should I use to gamble on: May 06, 2024, 02:30:31 PM
Gambling is becoming a popular thing in my locality almost everyone gamble and even colleagues gamble and engage in gambling related discussions at work,  so gambling is legal and very popular so there is no Shame in using part of a salary to gamble with that is why I am asking the question of what the right percentage from my salary that I should use to gamble?
Well this has a whole lot to do with preference a d so no answer can be absolutely correct nor wrong but then what I'm very sure of is in the fact thst some percentage are Ideal so you can aswell be able to handle other bills with the remaining of your salary. Personally from my perspective anything above 5% is too much and not a safe percentage to adopt because you may eventually get Togo bankrupt and in some cases addiction will creep in. Gambling is supposed to be a form of entertainment so spending upto 5% of ur salary on entertainment I think is a fair one.

You may actually get to have other needs that are most crucial and essential to you which you can get to spend more of your funds on so you don't have to get entertainment with a greater part of your pay cheque as it's not ideal .
9  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: A move for crypto regulations in Nigeria on: May 06, 2024, 02:17:09 PM
The federal government of Nigeria through the just appointed Director General, Securities and Exchange Commission, Dr Emomotimi Agama, will on Monday reach an understanding between crypto related platforms operating in the country on the need for a regulation of their operations within the country.

We all are not happy about how the government have been going about trying to make things difficult for crypto Enthusiasts in the country more especially with the recent developments of clamping down exchanges and even restricting some banking platforms not to allow their customers to make crypto operations on their platforms and they have even placed some prohibition policies already of freezing accounts of defaulters.

But let us also have a closer look of how this whole scenario is going about, normally it is illegal for any platform be it crypto or non crypto related to operate in a country without necessary documentation and authorization with some regulatory policies that will guide their operations so on my own view, regulating crypto activities will even give us more confidence to deal with cryptocurrency without always being afraid of the government decisions all the time.

I know that the aim of creating cryptocurrency more especially Bitcoin is to stand as a decentralized medium of making monetary transactions using digital system that will not employ the service of the government and other third parties but for now, since crypto adoption have not yet been globally accepted, let us dance to the tune of the government till when we have solidly gained ground in the crypto industry.

Your thoughts and opinions are welcome

Source:  Crypto regulation: SEC chief to meet foreign, local crypto exchanges, others Monday
One thing the Nigerian government fails to understand about cryptocurrency is the fact that they can't Gain absolute regulations on cryptocurrency because it's not directly attached to the economy of the nation neither does it have a capitalization centered around the economic situations of the country, there's no actual individual who can be held as the initiator or even the regulator at any level, the limit to their regulations will border around volume maybe and this can be achieved with the restrictions they have place around but it's still not giving them the regulatory power over cryptocurrency what they should be doing is to check into their monetary policies because these digital asset are somehow influenced by the exchange rate in dollars a d if they can get a regulations that helps them gain strength against the dollar I doubt if cryptocurrency will be their problem some how I see misplacement of priority in all these because chances are they will definitely not achieve the so called regulations they are aiming at, I taught they have better financial experts who would advice them better except they are doing this to probably sabotage the cryptocurrency industry which will still not be achieved in it's entirety due to the decentralized nature of cryptocurrency.

The problem of this country pass crypto and e dey pain me say dem just dey put all their energy inside to dey pursue crypto meanwhile if to say our economy dey alright just like others I no think say crypto go dey affect the country too much maybe dis na format wey dem just wan use disturb the way way some youths dey use make money so dat dem go come back come dey beg dem again and e no make sense because no be diswan go help d economy.
10  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Invest To Learning First on: May 05, 2024, 09:57:13 AM
Investing will never be risk free and finding 100% sure investments is pretty unlikely. But it does not mean that all investment opportunities are sketchy. Actually if you look and study carefully, you can find low risk investments that are established and very good for investments. Then as you learn more about how the market works, you can start learning about taking on high risk investments that might give you bigger rewards.

It's really important to figure out how much an asset is worth and look at its history before you invest in it. This can give you a good idea of what might happen in the future. Also, getting help from outside experts, like consultants, can be really useful. They can help you make smart decisions, save money, and understand how to invest better. If you're interested, I can suggest this place for outsourcing help: https://theremotegroup.com/
Sometimes investing goes beyond just putting your funds in an asset or a platform or even a commodity or service but understanding what exactly you are investing in and how long such should take to turn out profitable and knowing when best to invest and when not to aswell as when to take profit too because some persons have actually invested but because they have little to no knowledge in what they did, they eventually get to loose funds investing a d such is not a good investment pattern as it will discouraged such person from ever further wanting to ever invest again.

Seeking expert help via consultation is actually a very brilliant idea so you don't invest in a fraudulent schemes that will make away with your funds and you get to loose instead of profiting as expected of an investment, knowledge is the key factor before investing so you don't loose while investing.
11  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Before Trading Bitcoin you should... on: May 05, 2024, 09:47:31 AM
A lot of mistakes people make a lot is going into bitcoin trading without any steady source of income. While it is true that  bitcoin trading can change your life for good, you should also know know that it could also wreck you. First get enough knowledge, make sure you are working as this will help you fund your trading accounts. Only trade what you can afford to lose.

Do not also invest your life savings into bitcoin trading. this will hinder your trading capabilities as you will be trading with emotions and fear of losing your money. Trading is best done without emotions attached this will allow you make decisions better.

Do not quit your job if you have one until you have become very profitable in bitcoin trading. The market can become very unpredictable and you can lose funds, so for you not to go bankrupt you should be very profitable before you quit you job or any other source of income you have.

Do not forget that you should always risk what you can afford to lose.
A perfect advice for beginners which will actually help them a long way in their trading journey, some persons do have the mindset that immediately they venture into trading they are going to have their lives turning around almost immediately and will go as far as quitting their jobs and when they eventually blow their account they get to understand the importance of their job before they started trading and some may actually get regretting, it's very true you can make a fortune off trading but then getting to perfect your skill first is important before you then think of venturing into it fully such that you are going to quit your job for it full time.

The essence of your job will always be to having what to fall back to on bad trading days because trading can never promise to be smooth sail all day or week long, there are times trading can be very profitable and some other times it could be aswell very exhausting in that you may get too many losses and not be able to probably getting to be able to recover almost immediately so always having a plan B till you are profitable enough to still be stable even on bad trading days is actually very important.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mental rehabilitation clinic. on: May 05, 2024, 09:35:01 AM
Imagine that there is such a rehabilitation clinic for people who are addicted to gambling. Now imagine what they treat there without the use of pharmacology.
The main doctors there are gambling specialists, whose task is to convince you that you do not need to gamble. Your task, for example, is to prove that the patient most likely has a disordered game. In order to have long-term income, you need to have a gaming system. And not just a system, but a fairly innovative system of forecasting and risk management. Most likely the patient does not have it and never had it; otherwise he would have been successful and would not have ended up in rehab.
It is also necessary to find something for the patient to do instead of playing, so that he can occupy himself.
Now imagine that this gambling expert is you. What arguments will you give? What will you tell the patient about?
Please note that the patient will resist to the last. He will give counterarguments. For example, that he will get rich in the future, he’s just not lucky yet.
What other arguments do you think the patient will give? How do you respond to these arguments of his?
Actually I'm very much aware of the defense of the gambler because I'm a gambler too aswell so I will get a better understanding of his points of view and then I will have good points to counter his points in the fact that I have a first ha d experience so speaking from experience I think I will have a better edge of conviction for such gambler to understand that he or she should discontinued even if not completely but for a while and try out something else, it's very true they can quickly get rich gambling but then what are the chances and the odds that they will be able to get such done and in what space of time will they be able to achieve that and how much they would have achieved doing sometimes els within that period of time they dedicated all their time to gambling, but having gambling on the side will avail them a better chance to getting involved with sometimes that can help them in the long run.

I will try to get them convinced in the fact that the chances and odds they get rich gambling is just too small hence it will be better they just decided to get something else doing while they are hopeful about gambling because if they keep investing their all in gambling alone they may get bankrupt while they are yet to get rich but if they have got sometimes else doing the chances are they will still be doing just great.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think casinos can stop demanding KYC? on: May 05, 2024, 09:26:41 AM
Casinos existed without the need for KYC's until the government made it a requirement, and they started demanding it. IMO If the government no longer requires casinos to do KYC verification for new gamblers, casinos will go ahead and still do KYC verifications because they have seen the benefits of knowing their customers better than when they just allowed people to come onto their platform and gamble without their knowledge of who they were. What do you think? Do you think some casino's will revert back to non-KYC and allow money launderers, plus other fraudulent people have their easy way with them as a way to attract customers, or since they recognize the personal benefits of KYC to their casino, will continue demanding it even if it affects their customers?
You have already stated in your post why casinos wouldn't want to revert to the non KYC policy because they have seen thst it the KYC has done a whole lot of good than harm to them and it ahs aswell help them curb the chances of using their platforms for illicit activities that could implicate them in the nearest future of which it will cost them much more than they would benefit from such customers, most likely the government will not stop such policy because they are aware how many launders and others took advantage of the times the policy wasn't in place to perpetrate so many activities which cost both the government and the casinos some funds and reputation.

Staying anonymous while gambling is actually fun but for the reason of crime I think it's actually very good that these casinos continue with the KYC policy which will help them aswell save their reputation and Also save their potential customers who could fa victim of these fraudulent customers who are going to stay anonymous and use the platform to get from others.
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which device do you prefer for gambling ? on: May 05, 2024, 09:20:21 AM
A lot of gambling sites have emerged during and after the Covid-19 era and a lot of people have since then joined the gambling community.
We now have a wider audience who likes to gamble on desktop, laptop, mobile phone etc...
This poll is to see the most preferred device for gambling which I assume should be desktop as it provides a bigger screen and better user experience than any other device.
But a lot of people prefer mobile phones too and so lets just hit it and see what the actual results are.
I prefer my phone for the sake of privacy, my phone gives me the kind I wouldn't readily get on my desktop and flexibility with my phone is very much easier than with my desktop as with my phone I can at any place and any point log into the casino and place a bet but with my desktop I will have to get to the house or office before I will be able to place a bet an same applies with my laptop too but then when it come to indepth analysis and proper fetching of Information that will inform my gambling decisions I go with either my desktop or my laptop as both of them can actually get to avail me the view and the perfect environment to get as much information as I want and need.

With my phone Flexibility and privacy is much earlier than it would with my desktop and may laptop especially if I'm trying not to let's certain persons around .e get to know about my gambling habits.
15  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Does Bitcoin need advertisment? on: May 04, 2024, 11:37:28 AM
The value Bitcoin is adding to lives a d some economy where it's been utilize well enough is enough for it to gain the kind of publicity it's gaining and I still believe so we'll that it's definitely going to even gain further publicity and be widely known by more persons after now, value is it's only advertisment just like the Nigerian adage, "garri no dey need signboard" something can get too important that it doesn't get to be advertised formerly to get the kind of publicity it requires for it to be able to yield profit and further increase in value, the evidence of the benefits of Bitcoin on some of it's users and investors is enough advertisment.

Apart from the fact say our government dey try fix economy, I no sure say dem for really wan ban crypto, sometimes I dey see this thing as cluelessness or probably dem just dey wan sabotage the crypto industry for their personal reasons but then the more they try the better the opportunities for crypto people so e for even better sy dem just allow crypto people see how dem fit help d economy Dan to dey pursue dem up and down.
16  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Why most beginners so much believe bitcoin can make rich on: May 04, 2024, 11:20:34 AM
What make people so much believe that immediately they just buy bitcoin they will become rich, like I was  just thinking about this, if people think the bitcoin you buy will bring more bitcoin just like that.if bitcoin should be something that only brings profits I doubt if it will be still existing today. It would have ended just like other ponzi schemes that placed over the years.

The way some people think about bitcoin they feel too comfortable and so relax as if life is so easy like money can be achieved with no form of work. Investors gain profits from Bitcoin because they worked for it, they had patience with the up and down of the market,  This is not an easy work that anybody with no understanding can achieve from bitcoin.
Some of these taughts are accumulations of what they have seen around with a very poor knowledge or perspective as to what it actually is. Some persons have actually sold off the wrong idea to their friends and when these newbies happens to meet this as their first idea of Bitcoin it causes them more harm than good because they think wrongly about Bitcoin meanwhile they could actually get proper education and understand better. Bitcoin has actually gotten some others rich but it wasn't an instantaneous thing, it took months and even years of consistency in the cryptocurrency industry for the to have gotten to the point they are and not just by getting a few units of Bitcoin.

Sometimes na all those street boys dey cause this things, when dem don gor run client street collect their Bitcoin dem go come dey lie say dem dey into Bitcoin say na wetin dem dey wkrkwey dey give dem money be dat so newbies now go think say na true say immediately dem buy Bitcoin dem go start to dey ball not knowing say no b like dat, so e good make person dey understand something well fes before dem go dey do all these things dem.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How my gambling life started. on: May 04, 2024, 10:48:23 AM
Its common as you have said since we are humans and can often develop a jealous kind of nature towards each other, most especially when others are having more upper edge over us in gambling, that is why to an extent, i will prefer making such with an outsider or friend than a family member, because i won't allow gambling to be the determining factor to how we are going to relate well or not with some of the family members, pride and jealousy will affect us both.
Allowing your gambling habit come in between you and your family is a problem on its own because its definitely not going to make sense in the tail end of your activities but then if you are really mindful how it will affect you and your relationship with both family and friends, I think you will get to, maintain a better gambling habit than you would normally because if you are having issues with family due to your gambling habit you are going to have a disturbed mind and may at times not be able to concentrate and gamble better and your results are definitely going to be affected.

Gambling with outsiders probably friends too you still need to apply some caution because even all that which you have mentioned can possibly get to come in between you people too if not properly handled too aswell so which ever it is just make sure to be mindful of your relationship with others how it's been affected.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If we lose in gambling, what do we need to do? on: May 04, 2024, 09:32:40 AM
Another fact about loosing a bet is that we cannot claim back our money from the casino or gambling platform we are using, they are gone and that's all, so why are we not going to make use of our initiative in gambling to within what we could afford, gambling is all about having fun, we should count every other experience in it as part of the fun we already have with gambling, we cannot expect to always be accurate in everything we do.
This is very true because even when we happen to win we don't return the money to the casino so they too will never get to refund your stakes when you loose them and I don't think it's not a fair idea because it shows balance to me, knowing how it is if you get to loose your money that it's never coming back unless you gwtt o play again and win such that you get to recover than you could say you will be having a chance to win, so whenever you loose its good you check your wallet if you are about exhausting all you have got, it's good you exit and make sure to quit for a while before coming back to the casino.

Don't have the mind set that you are definitely going to win the casinos and still get back your funds almost immediately as some times you may be Lucky it will happen like that but most times chasing losses gets you to loose even more funds and then I think it's not a good idea, you can possibly recover if you quit and get back at it again later on.
19  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you care about what people say about you gambling? on: May 04, 2024, 09:25:19 AM
I agree, besides the money you are using in gambling is your own money. The fact that it is your own money, it only means that other people doesn't have the right to think or say/dictate anything about your hobby. Letting them to think whatever they want and didn't give any interest on their opinion is good, we don't need to stress ourselves with other peoples opinion, what we should think is how we become comfortable with our hobbies.
People always have the right to think what ever it is they want to think and we have almost no power as to control whatever it is they want to think but then it's in our power to still do that which we wan to do regardless of what the taughts of these people will be because if you are not happy and are probably sad and didn't gets sometimes to keep u having fun during your leisure, the same people will talk about the fact that you are sad and not trying to cheer up basically what ever is it you do people will still talk and think so just gèt something good that makes you happy and do it.

If gambling is your hobby and it actually hurts no one it's not a problem if you continue with your hubby and still happen to have fun with it not minding what people think or say but if it turns out your hubby is causing problem to others then look for a way to possibly adjust so you don't get to make people suffer as a result of your hubby.
