1  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Dont Buy a second hand phone from people you dont know on: April 10, 2024, 05:21:39 PM
Whether from people you know or people don't know, for your own safety, you should stronglyfrowm against buying of second hand phone. Asides the chances of the phone being a stolen phone, you could end up incurring losses for yourself.
A friend of mine saw a phone and on Facebook, it was an infinity phone, worth over 200k market price and he saw the phone on Facebook and the poster was selling it for just 150k, and the phone was just 2 months old with complete accessories, according to the seller. I tried talking him out of it but he ignored my advice and went ahead to buy the phone.  Indeed the phone was very new and had rlthe receipt just as the seller posted which made the whole thing even more suspicious.

My friend was enjoying the phone not until after a month he discovered the phone was bought on instalment from EasyBuy. And we all know what that means.
2  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Don't FOMO Gambling this Weekend on: April 10, 2024, 05:09:35 PM
Last weekend was very massive in the gambling world especially when E-money posted his bet between Chelsea and Arsenal. I know a lot of people followed him to play the game because it was trending on Twitter. I can only imagine how many new converts will join gambling the coming weekend.

My advice na say make we use our head o because gambling no be anybody mate. People wey dey celebrate their winning fit don dey loose dey come since, maybe their own time just come and they pick major. There is no easy wat to wealth so make we gamble responsibly. Thank you once again OP for this post because I know say plenty Naija guys dey game even on low key.

If me wan bet this weekend, I go avoid the games of those wey win last week because them fit use this week pay back some of them money them. I no wan follow pay beck wey me no owe.

I no just understand how some people brain dey work, especially those gamblers wey dey gamble blindly simply say one celebrity or social media influencer stake game and post, them go just rush follow am like werey. Although sometimes, e dey actually they work in their favour but e no mean say na so them supposed carry follow up gambling.

Gambling itself no be be bad thing, na just the way some people dey carry follow am, because say you see where person carry 5million naira take stake game, your mumu button activated say na e be the surest game, then some people go carry their hard earned money go through for the same stake without even thinking twice.
3  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigerian street pranks and its effect. on: April 10, 2024, 04:45:26 PM
As content creation gains popularity and people start making it big from YouTube/ Facebook monetization, content creators are becoming increasingly desperate and are willing to do any content to gain followers.

Pranking people on the street has become a common order with no consideration of the victim's emotional/psychological state of mind.

While we watch these videos and enjoy the entertainment part of it, some of the people pranked are left emotionally drained, some relationship/ couples trust has broken because they were pranked to check there faithfulness to each other and some people have lost so much useful information from there phone because a popular prankster smatched it on the ground and gives the victim a new one, not considering some important information in the phone that might be lost in the process.

Of course, some of these guys have landed themselves in trouble because they pranked the wrong person but others are yet to learn there lessons.

Entertainment is not bad, as a matter of fact I enjoy watching them alot but when you ridicule or take advantage of the ignorance of others just to create your content, it becomes a problem.

Funny enough I've observed that the rate of these prank contents has drastically reduced due to the side effects and the level of trouble these content creators/pranksters land themselves in.

I witnessed a near death experience of one of these content creators who snatched a lady's purse and attempted to run away, before he could take 5 steps, the angry mob was already all over him, that was the very first day I witnessed real life jungle justice, they so messed this guy up, before his videographer could get through the angry mob, the young man had already been beaten to stupor lol... We could barely hear the young man's faint voice screaming,  na prank o, na prank o, na prank o...

Lol it was funny and pitiful at the same time. Inow, nothing wey no be content again, I thought to myself, what if this whole thing was actually staged and planned by the content creator and he was ready to receive the beating for the money... Nothing wey no fit happen again for this country.
4  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: POWER OF CORRUPTION on: April 10, 2024, 04:26:47 PM
People dey always dey talk say power corrupt, power corrupt, yes most of us don talk am before, we dey think say na power dey corrupt person but the truth be say most of us already get corruption inside of us we only need the opportunity (power) to bring out the corruption in us. A man once said if you really want to know the person true self give him 3 things: Money, Power and Access to Sex. With this 3 things you can know any one true nature. So no be power dey corrupt, power only reveals corruption.
Wetin you talk, sense dey am, but me I go respectfully disagree with you. Wetin you talk fit be true for some people but make you no generalize am for everybody because of you wan talk am like that that means everybody dey corrupted with or without power because e no get anybody wey go come here, as far as say na human being, wey go talk say e no get e own bad side. People get their own bad sides but e no mean say them dey corrupted. Some people wey dey corrupted today, e no mean say na so them been dey, e get people wey dey compelled to corruption. Wetin I mean be say, before people wey dey corrupted go fit give you wetin you want, them go surely want make you dey like them, especially for this our country politics. Plenty people enter politics with good intentions, but due to how dirty the game dey, if you no play by the rules, you gats back down else it's either you fail or them kill you after you succeed... So in order to get wetin them want, they gats dance to the tune even when e be say no be really wetin them carry for mind. So no true true, power dey really corrupt people if them no take time.
5  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Should illegal stealing of crude oil be discarded? on: April 09, 2024, 01:13:37 PM
One possible answer is to prioritize creation of employment and economic growth in areas most vulnerable to economic sabotage. This might involve investment in buildings, schools, and other initiatives that enable individuals to make a life. However, I am more worried about the surroundings and health consequences of illicit refining, as well as the fact that it is a hazardous practice that can result in injuries or even death. So, this would assist in tackling the poverty and lack of opportunity that frequently cause individuals to engage in illicit activities, and we could do so with the help of contemporary advances such as drones.
6  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Arise O Compatriots, Nigeria's Call Obey on: April 09, 2024, 12:56:37 PM
My fellow Nigerians, as we celebrate the independence of our cherished country today, it is fitting to reflect on the aspirations of those who fought tenaciously for self-government. It exhorts us to make the most of the opportunity to reflect and assess whether the Nigeria we are has met our expectations as proud Nigerians. The time has come, in my opinion, to elect leaders who have the intelligence to use public finances to advance equality, strengthening the foundations of our nascent democracy and ensuring that the system works. It is crucial to thoroughly assess the behavior of potential leaders in light of their political motivation and capacity for duty.
I'll ensure that everyone is informed about

I appreciate that these concepts may be difficult to execute, but I believe it is necessary to attempt. It is critical to establish a healthy democracy in Nigeria, which begins with the election of capable and dedicated leaders. We cannot anticipate our country to change immediately, but by taking tiny measures, we can have an impact. It is also vital to strengthen the capacity of government institutions so that they may more successfully carry out their obligations, including enhancing the number of persons who are eager to run for office or selecting someone who is competent, inspired, or has the necessary skills to execute the job properly.
7  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think Bitcoin can end poverty? In a nation today on: April 09, 2024, 10:43:29 AM
For me proverty is not the problem of a person but of the whole nation in my country the eradication of poverty has becomes necessary for the sustainable and inclusive growth of the let state the fate here Bitcoin has helps the poor by Increasin their savings and access to capital also it has help around 1.7million people in my country and also it has also impoverished people to control their investment.

I believe you are correct that boosting access to savings and capital is a crucial step toward improving the economic status of individuals in society, but the usage of Bitcoin in the country might be for transfers. Cash transfers are transactions in which people transfer money back to their home nation from abroad. Remittances are frequently sent through traditional banking institutions, which can be costly and delayed. However, Bitcoin may be used to transmit money more rapidly and inexpensively, which might have a significant impact on those who rely on transfers to maintain their family. It might also help more people into the online economy and better their lives.
8  Economy / Economics / Re: Money and education on: April 09, 2024, 10:18:23 AM
Money and education which one of these is advisable to achieve?
They constantly say education is the key to success but in my country today many graduates don't have a job, and most of them are still fed by their parents, and that's not the way it's supposed to be.
And again they also said money is potency and fondness. Yes, money is power even if you are not a graduate or you haven't been to college before and you have the money you can even employ a graduate to work for you.
Presently now in my wonderful fatherland NIGERIA 🇳🇬 I can see the power of money.
Please any advice?

In terms of your unique circumstance, I think it's fantastic that you're considering how to attain success, but from what you've mentioned, it appears like you've expressed an interest in both the economic and creative aspects of things. That's an excellent mix! You may explore a job in a financial assessment or consulting, where you can use your technical talents to assist businesses in making choices, or in advertising or branding, where you can use your creativity to help firms expand. So it's critical to find out what you appreciate and what you want to accomplish in life, and then develop an approach to reach those objectives.
9  Economy / Economics / Re: The current situation in the country Nigeria. on: April 09, 2024, 09:46:31 AM
The hardship in Nigeria increase day by day the massive are suffering. The poor old men and women. That doesn't have access to bank are suffering. Just imagine a pregnant woman died in a hospital just because there was no cash the network was bad for transfer. Where are we going to. Our people are suffering they are dying our leaders should do something about it to me I don't think we have leaders anymore. The people we call our leaders have already failed us. Now it's time for election let's vote wisely let not suffer for 8 years again

I've heard of some Nigerian groups who are striving to make a difference, despite significant hurdles. For example, I've read about an organization called "Save the Children" that is striving to improve healthcare access and nutrition for Nigeria's children. I've also heard of the work of "Doctors Without Borders" in Nigeria, which provides medical care to those in need. These are only two instances of groups making a difference; there are many more. So it's vital to remember that even modest adjustments may have a tremendous impact, and that everyone has the ability to make a difference, even if only in a small way.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this considered cheating? or Ilegal? on: April 08, 2024, 09:36:12 PM
Hello, This happened to me today, on a provably fair Dice Bitcoin gambling site I lost some money, then I checked my bets using an online verifier, in their website they say they use SHA512 algorithm to hash server seed, however, when they revealed the unhashed server seed I checked it using a SHA512 calculator... It should match the hashed server seed they provided to me, however, it does not match.

So the hashed SHA512 of the server seed is different from the hashed server seed they gave to me when I started my session. Isn't that considered cheating? I mean they probably are calculating right the dice value, however, the only fact of having wrong information on their provably fair statement should be enough for a legal complaint, shouldn't it?

Please someone tell me if it is enough to put some lawyers to work, or if it would be just a waste of time. Thanks!

It's also worth noting that, in addition to any legal remedies, you might file an issue with the gambling site's customer service unit. This may not result in compensation, but it may be a means to express your concerns and maybe draw attention to any weaknesses in the system. It's likely that the disparity was a mistake, rather than a deliberate attempt to confuse or scam you. But it's critical to at least raise the matter and attempt to get some answers. If you can gather further proof and documents, you should speak with a lawyer who concentrates in gaming or online laws.
11  Economy / Economics / Re: More trouble for crypto? on: April 08, 2024, 09:22:07 PM
I believe that the future of cryptocurrency is bright, but the journey will be difficult. We may expect more regulation, frauds, and hacks, as well as improved creativity, acceptance, and use cases for cryptocurrency. The technology is still in its early stages, and we are only scratching the surface of what is conceivable. CBDCs, NFTs, and DeFi are among the exciting technologies that will emerge in the next years. We'll also see more everyday life use cases, like as money transfers, payments, and supplies, as Decentralized finance gains recognition, making it simpler to handle your own finances without relying on a traditional bank.
12  Economy / Economics / Re: Finally they understand the value of Decentralization ! on: April 08, 2024, 09:11:22 PM
This will inneed be a lesson for people, mostly for retailers and not CEO's behind crypto-projects.
One is expecting to hold dollars in a secure decentralized way, but when we talk about those full-backed assets, in reality there is not much difference from the risk of having one's money in the bank.

There is actually a disadvantage, since in this case, one (as final user) does not have a say on what bank to trust.

On the increase of volume, besides increasing from people trying to swap their tokens for other reliable coins on Uniswap, the volume could be also be due to people trying to pocket a buck, speculating on the value of USDC and arbitrage.

I believe we also need to analyze how a government-backed digital money might affect the financial sector. People might store and transact with their money online, reducing the necessity for traditional institutions. This might cause a disturbance in the banking system, and possibly even the abolition of banks as we know them. It is feasible that the government may become the exclusive supplier of financial services, with consumers no longer needing to go through a bank to get their money. As a result, improved knowledge may lead to increased interest in non-government-backed cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, among others.
13  Economy / Economics / Re: Cash is not trash on: April 08, 2024, 08:54:29 PM
In my country presently, we know how important cash has become, the government decide to renew our Fiat currency and it's not in circulation yet, for some reasons, some people believe that it was intentional because they don't want some bad actors to use Fiat to rig the ongoing election in the country.

But since all this mess have started, many people are suffering, and I as a person have no hold the new fiat Note because I can't get a hold of one yet, and just because many stores prefer Cash than digital transfer, this have make me see how important Fiat currency can be.

Some people will say that Fiat is trash and they keep all their money in stable coins, the truth of this is you are doing things wrong, the stable coins in crypto space are backed by nothing, they can vanish into thin air if the government doesn't want stable coins to exists.

I believe that all stable coins are easier to trample on by the government, more than other crypto projects in this space, Fiat has it's usefulness, let's stop deceiving ourselves, the first time I ever purchased Bitcoin I use Fiat and I believe this is the same as everybody on here, unless you mine your own Bitcoin or get paid in Bitcoin working online.

Do not trash Fiat yourself when it's actually needy, crypto and Fiat must co-exists until the government decide to go digital with Fiat themselves, and Fiat is not trash.

However, if governments create their own digital currency, the crypto environment may shift. For one thing, it might lower demand for stablecoins by allowing consumers to use government-backed digital money instead. It may also make it more difficult for cryptocurrencies to compete with government-backed digital currencies, which have more authority and stability. On the other side, it may raise awareness of digital currencies and make people more comfortable with the concept of utilizing them, which might be beneficial to crypto overall. And because it is digital, it has the potential to be utilized for configurable money and smart contract agreements.
14  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Don't FOMO Gambling this Weekend on: April 08, 2024, 06:08:37 PM
Well, there have been a few proposals for regulating the gaming sector and safeguarding customers. One proposal is to limit the amount of money that individuals may spend on gambling. This might be a daily, weekly, or monthly restriction, depending on the rules in place. This would assist individuals avoid overpaying and falling into financial problems. Another proposal is to mandate all gambling websites to include information on safe gambling practices as well as assistance for those in need. This might include hotlines, counselling services, and instructional materials. As a result, they can assist to decrease the harmful consequences of gambling.
15  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Understanding basic trading terms and acronyms on: April 08, 2024, 05:49:07 PM
I think we the newbie here should be conversant with some trading terms here like CFDs, binance, indices, DIP and HODL and so one. I plead with some of our senior members here to create  threads that will educate us on this trading terms and acronyms and also the right techniques to follow in trading so that it will guide us during trading times. I know everything in life is about stages but it is important that we have a pre-knowledge of how trading works and how to follow the right concept.

Absolutely! FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) is a particularly significant notion in the cryptocurrency realm. Because of the high levels of unpredictability and the "get rich quick" mindset that some investors possess. There are several tales of people who purchased Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies at a cheap price, kept onto them, and then saw their value explode, earning them a lot of money. This might cause FOMO in folks who believe they missed out on this chance. However, keep in mind that cryptocurrency markets are notoriously unpredictable, and there is no assurance that this will happen again.
16  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Best way to invest in Bitcoin on: April 08, 2024, 05:39:25 PM
So many options to buy Bitcoin, you can decide to buy directly through exchange like binance or Coinbase. You can also make use of the Bitcoin focused investment vehicle like a Bitcoin ETF or like Grayscale Bitcoin trust.
One thing you must know when taking a decision to invest in Bitcoin .It's highly speculative investment.  That's why it's more advice able to invest the amount you are comfortable losing.as Bitcoin price go up and down this season by hundred of dollars.

Benefit of investing in Bitcoin is that it offers a high degree of transparency. The Bitcoin blockchain is a public ledger, which means that all transactions are visible to anyone who cares to look. This transparency helps to ensure that no one can manipulate the Bitcoin network or create fake Bitcoins. It also makes it easier to track the movement of Bitcoins, which can help to prevent fraud and other illicit activities. And finally, many investors find the innovative technology behind Bitcoin to be appealing. The blockchain technology that powers Bitcoin is seen by some as a potential game-changer, with applications beyond just cryptocurrency, which can provide a sense of security and peace of mind.
17  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: The power of negative/positive mindset. on: April 08, 2024, 05:08:08 PM
Well. Our environment and society have seriously imparted on our behaviors and mindset negatively that you no longer have a safe air to breathe. I would not call it a societal vices as it has almost become a societal norm that we cannot do with out. The only thing you can do is to create a veil or shield over those negativity in your mind.

For example, I live in a society where womanizing is almost become an order of the day and people don't see anything wrong with it whatsoever. Incidents upon incidents where married couples go into loggerheads because the wife or husband brought a stranger to their matrimonial bed and they will have extramarital sex there and be caught but nothing else will happen afterwards either the wife will have to deal with it herself or seek for a divorce at the end. That is truly how bad it has become and why these things are not good is because they kill healthy and long-term relationships that have early turned to marriages and family.

The second thing OP did not mention is the high level of drug addiction in the country. It is seriously disheartening to talk about the high level of drug abuse and over dosage of drugs amongst young people in the country now is overwhelming. I petty parents who do not know what their wards practice in school and those they associate themselves with when in school as countless of those cases have been recorded in universities. I will share this investigation with anyone who is interested to watch this BBC Africa Eye investigation that was carried out since 2018. You can watch the Documentary Video Here . It's about 50 minutes video. It's an eye opener that will journey you around the reality of how this drug addiction have plaque our society, today.

None of these things OP mentioned above and I have mentioned that are not the case today and it is alarming how these things have only gained more recognition and greater height in the society today.

Well, if you live a life free of drugs and other substances, you may serve as a role model for others in society, as well as develop strong and healthy connections with people around you. This includes family, friends, and community people. By developing important connections, you may form a support network that can help you reject harmful influences and encourage good change. Strong relationships also contribute to a sense of belonging and identity, which may be an effective motivation for change. When people feel linked to something greater than themselves, they are more inclined to desire to make a positive change in the world.
18  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Laziness and pride on: April 08, 2024, 05:00:10 PM
Most people think life is a bed of roses where you can get anything you want so easily,  well some people are born with silver spoon while some are  not. Those who are not born with silver spoon instead of them to work or hustle genuinely they rather go into things that won't stress them,  things that are not genuine,  things that will lead to destruction,  things that are not worth it.
Most of our youth are so lazy to the extend that the houses they live in they can't clean it,  talk more of going to look for a job that will fetch them money. Like I said earlier most of our youth don't come from a rich background and yet they select the type of job they will do, a job that the least person in the society can do,  yes everyone knows that some job are hard but this category of people am talking about do not prefer anyone at all.
However,  since this set of people have decided not to work for somebody or under person.  I think they should start learning cryptocurrency form their comfort zone at least it will save them stress but more time.

But, you are correct, bitcoin may be a tool for individuals to create their own chances and get greater control over their financial destiny, but the first step is to identify credible sources of information. There are several appropriate locations to start, including the websites of major cryptocurrency exchanges and platforms. You may also get solid information from credible news sites like The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg. Another approach to learn about cryptocurrency is to join networks of like-minded people. Reddit and Discord are two wonderful locations to locate these groups, and you can always ask professionals for help and advice.
19  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: The beauty of having a good team on: April 08, 2024, 02:45:34 PM
This topic carry plenty weight because e make better sense, dem say together we stand divided we fall, so there is power in unity. A team de speed up production and dem de get far better results dan one man squad, because according to economists if one person fit to produce 10 outputs in a day, with division of labor 10 people fit to produce over 100 outputs in the same day, meaning say additional 9 people add output of over 90 in the same time frame. Weda na for crypto project, association or organization, team work de give better results, because na different individuals with different gifts for the good productivity of the community.

You are totally accurate, and communication is also a vital element of collaboration. It is not enough to have a same purpose; the team must be able to successfully communicate. There must be open and honest communication between team members and with leaders. It's also crucial to have strong listening skills so that everyone can communicate and collaborate efficiently. The New Zealand All Blacks rugby team is an excellent example of a team that communicates effectively. They are recognized for their ability to communicate and collaborate on the field, which has contributed to their success. To tackle the problems, we must trust one another and collaborate as a team.
20  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Rate your self good. on: April 07, 2024, 08:03:52 AM
This time we are is a difficult time, everything seems to be difficult because of the hard economy.  Some people this time might be thinking they are not doing better to live a standard life, do not allow this mindset to make you worry or make you feel bad. You have really trued your best and done well with what you have right now. Appreciate yourself, what you have right now, the level you see yourself right now people are struggling to get what you have achieved. Do not let anything or people around you to pressure you, life is a process and as far as their is life their is more success to come.

In this life nobody has it all, but as we continue to live let's expect to see more good things. Do not pressure yourself or think your case is the worse, you are really trying to reach this journey and it is not easy. Just believe the best is yet to still come.

That's excellent practice! Gratitude writing may be quite beneficial because it allows us to dwell on the positive aspects of our life, no matter how insignificant they may appear. I believe that we might become so preoccupied with the unpleasant aspects of life that we lose sight of the positive. Keeping a thankfulness notebook can help us shift our focus and put things in perspective. And it doesn't have to be something elaborate or sophisticated; simply taking a few minutes each day to write down what you're grateful for may make a tremendous impact. So, when we are happy and thankful, our bodies may relax and perform more effectively.
