1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why i think the CME listing Bitcoin Futures is actually a bad thing! on: December 04, 2017, 09:43:12 PM
According to how the Bitcoin Reference Rate (BRR) will be calculated, it appears that intraday volatility will have very little effect on the futures price.

http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/files/bitcoin-reference-rate-methodology.pdf

Actually, using the closing rate is more susceptible to market manipulation. We have all seen heavy buying in the last half an hour of trade in the equity markets, so that the price is pushed up at close. I suspect similar manipulation will happen in the Bitcoin market as well. And unlike equity markets, there is no regulator to wield the stick.
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: December 04, 2017, 09:35:06 PM
i really though England not have a chance against Australia in this match but now they have very good chance to bowl Australia out and chase about 300 runs. i think if Australia get 400 runs in front they win because i not see England get that amount of this pitch.

Batting in the fourth innings is not just about runs, it is about handling pressure. England haven't shown themselves in shining light until now. They have conceded a 200+ run lead in the first innings. Beats me why you are even thinking of England having a chance in this match.
3  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-01] The Big Bang Theory and Bitcoin’s Mainstream Media Perception on: December 02, 2017, 06:03:13 PM
The most successful science nerd sitcom, The Big Bang Theory, aired it’s Bitcoin-focused episode last night going out to an estimated 12.6 million viewers. The episode, which went by the title “The Bitcoin Entanglement”, followed Sheldon and the gang as they embarked on a mission to track down the long lost, and forgotten Bitcoins that they had mined back in 2011.

It would be interesting to get an update about the viewership of this episode. That said, Bitcoin has moved beyond the used-by-nerds stage. This kind of portrayal may not be that good for Bitcoin's image amongst ordinary people.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indonesian Government Banned Bitcoin on: December 02, 2017, 11:16:45 AM
I am Indonesian, after about 6 years living with bitcoin life, mining, trading and join bitcoin community, from mining and trading i got more income and others benefit but what  happen now? bank central of indonesia will ban bitcoin, Fucking stupid  Indonesian government

https://news.bitcoin.com/indonesia-media-urge-bitcoiners-to-cash-in-ahead-of-coming-crypto-ban/?utm_source=OneSignal%20Push&utm_medium=notification&utm_campaign=Push%20Notifications

Only countries which have an authoritarian mindset, or whose governments have really screwed up monetary policy, will be afraid of Bitcoin and try to restrict its growth. An open government will see that fintechs using Bitcoin bring efficiency to the system through competition with the legacy systems of existing banks. I expect more governments to act against Bitcoin, but that is not going to slow its growth.
5  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Can Be 1 Million in 2020 on: December 02, 2017, 10:03:25 AM
$1 million implies a 100 times increase in 2-3 years. Even the most ardent crypto fan will know from the bottom of his heart that this is wishful thinking, especially from such a high base. What we need now is to overcome the problems facing bitcoin, including transaction backlog and lack of clarity in regulation. The price increase can come subsequently.
6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: December 02, 2017, 07:36:31 AM
India after winning the toss in final test match against SL have decided to bat and are 116/2 in first session. Vijay has made the half century and batting well. India would like to win or draw this match so that they can win the series by 1-0. On other hand SL would like to consolidate this match by winning and making the series 1-1 and also go home with some confidence as the previous match was just a nightmare for them.

India are looking very comfortable in spite of losing those 2 early wickets of Dhawan and Pujara. Both Kohli and Vijay have made half centuries and look good to convert them. The depth of the Indian batting is a big strength. Even if wickets fall, you know that you will have no respite from strokemakers as an opposition bowler. And Sri Lanka doesn't have too many strike bowlers.

8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC form a double top @ $11800? on: December 01, 2017, 11:34:41 PM
Will BTC form a double top @ $11800?

BTC has been recovering from $9K on a decreasing volume - once this buying force is exhausted at near ATH - will people panic sell and take BTC lower again?

Trying to force-fit technical analysis onto Bitcoin has never really been successful. A lot of people predicted that the price would drop after crossing $8000 because it formed some pattern in Eliot's waves. We all saw that it reached $11,000+ before catching its breath. So just focus on its potential and keep your belief that its price will eventually reach there.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Futures Contracts - fuel for a crash in BTC? on: December 01, 2017, 11:03:29 PM
I agree that it could result in a way for institutional players to indulge in 'naked' shorting. But it will bring liquidity into the market. Right now, if there are no sellers, the price could zoom up if people want to buy bitcoins. These short-sellers will moderate such rapid movements.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Message to Satoshi, please dump your 1million bitcoins on: November 26, 2017, 09:51:23 AM
Satoshi, bitcoin is extremely volatile and run by organizations now, not the people. There's constant forks such as Bitcoin Cash and other garbage that shows just how jokey the coin is. The only thing worthwhile is the blockchain itself and I honestly believe this was not meant to function as a method of payment, but as a method of storage(Bitcoin's constant dramatic price changes, good and bad, show this)

My resolution? Dump all your bitcoins on the biggest exchanges and destroy the currency, then start over.

Bitcoin is now bigger than Satoshi. People believe in it.
Even if Satoshi dumps his coins now at exchanges, I believe that Bitcoin will survive. Look at the daily trading volumes, it is around $5Bn. So Satoshi's entire stash equals just 2 days of Bitcoin trading volume.
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: About to hit 9,000! on: November 26, 2017, 09:40:33 AM
Press articles and topics in Bitcointalk seem outdated in a few hours. It crossed $9100, although it retraced a bit and is trading at around $9000.
I don't think a lot of people will be surprised if we hit $10,000 in November itself!!
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: November 26, 2017, 08:32:18 AM
Australia are in a strong position to win this test match, England did well to survive last night and will need to do the same in the morning session as Australia will be looking for some quick wickets. If Australia can get Root out early then I think Australia will only be chasing a small target for victory. I just hope the rain stays away as the weather forecast is for some light rain. Well done to Steve Smith on his 1st Ashes century as Australian captain, he deserved it as he batted well when under pressure and has put Australia in a strong position to win the match.

England needs a few good partnerships to get back the confidence in this innings because they lost two wickets quickly. Since a lot of time left they shouldn't hurry and play slowly without losing wickets this morning session then they can build good total otherwise as you said Australia may win this match. England nicely came back in the first innings for restricting Australian batsman but now they need a good total win this game.

The match between Australia and England in Australia was always going to be going Australia way, and now they barely needs few more runs to win. I hope England offer some competition in the next match they really have surrendered this match. Meanwhile in Asia I think team India has a very good chance to win, bat the entire day today, post 600+ send them into bat and then go for the victory. The srilankans will need to play for a draw.

Australia need just 170 runs in the final innings to wrap up this match. Knowing Australia, this wasn't expected to challenge them at all. But they have reached 114 without losing any wicket. Looks like they are going to win this match comprehensively. England will have to improve a lot to compete with them.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gold (BTG) on: November 16, 2017, 11:02:50 PM
I got my BTG from Hitbtc and I'm still holding it. It was the easiest way for me.

You will hold it all the way to zero. If you can't trust the developers, then you cannot trust the coin. These people who are trying to piggy back on the Bitcoin brand will eventually realize that all their efforts come to nought.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is more valuable than others coins? on: November 16, 2017, 10:55:15 PM
Network Effect. There are a lot more people using Bitcoin. There is a lot of hashing power backing the network and hence its safety is higher than other altcoins. Some coins with specific features have come close to Bitcoin in market cap, but Bitcoin is by far the leader.
15  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Bearish] Keep bitcoin away from the real economy, says billionaire on: November 16, 2017, 10:46:29 PM
Bitcoin has not prove its usability wholly because there're a lot of problems that we will face when people starting to adopt it in their real life.
for example the transaction and the fees itself,

Forget all that, Bitcoin is useless because of all the hackers. I read more and more "all my coins are gone". How will uncle Phil protect his coins, if even pros can not protect theirs. I have mine on a paper wallet for a long time and I am too scared to "activate" them.

Your money can be also stolen from your pocket. Yes. But usually not thousands or ten thousands of dollars at once.

Most of these people won't bother buying or storing bitcoins. They will just trade on contract-for-differences. When the price of bitcoin increases, they will get fiat currency deposited into their bank accounts and be satisfied with that.
16  Economy / Economics / Re: do you think bitcoin is controversial ? on: November 16, 2017, 10:40:01 PM
Anything that challenges the established order is labelled controversial. First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. Bitcoin is currently on step #3.

The fighting bit is for the banks. The people love Bitcoin. In their minds, I think Bitcoin has already won.
Bitcoin is controversial because people from all walks of life love it - the geeks, the venture capitalists, the drug dealers..

First test match of India vs SL is going on in Kolkata. We all know SL is passing bad times and last tour against Pakistan was not good for them. They want to start strongly in India.OTOH,India is on very good form and they have beaten NZ few days ago.And India is very dangerous in home so it will be very hard task for SL to beat india in Kolkata.

Match Update: Play stopped due to bad light, SL took two early wickets of India.India need a big partnership and kohli need to handle this situation.
Very interesting start of this first test between India vs Sri Lanka just 12 overs bowled and India lost 3 wickets 17 runs on board captain also out now surely first day play is end lets see what happen on second day as India is under pressure after very poor start Pujara is still on with Rahane both need to stay for some long time as in test Dhoni is not available man of crisis

Marvelous start by Sri Lankan's, top 3 batsman out in nearly few moments. Virat Kohli being dismissed will put pressure upon their team. Hardik Pandya is even not playing who really is a good player in test as well. Probably about the game result I believe the game will end in a draw, that's a good probability as Weather report has stated it would rain even tomorrow.

Suranga Lakmal has taken three wickets without giving away a single run. His figures of 6-6-0-3 are truly amazing. And the wickets he has taken are all big scalps, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, India will have to play very well to get back into this match.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: (┌・。・)┌ 👌 Do you think you lost your oportunity to invest in Bitcoin? 👌 on: November 15, 2017, 07:49:57 PM
Some people think that they are late because now Bitcoin price is too high

People used the same logic when the price was $500. It is never too late to use the internet. It is never too late to get into Bitcoin.
If people have apprehensions about the high price, they should get in at periodic intervals to protect themselves against a sudden crash.
19  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-15] Zimbabwe exchanges now trade Bitcoin even higher due to the coup on: November 15, 2017, 07:48:26 PM
It essentially is a closed economy and people are trying to get their money out. Unfortunately, there seems to be no other alternative for Zimbabweans. I don't see the premium disappearing even after the government stabilizes.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: November 15, 2017, 06:25:39 AM
England have chipped away at Cricket Australia - XI, taking 7 wickets. This practice match augurs well for their tough upcoming Ashes series.  Jonny Bairstow, the England wicketkeeper was off the field after hurting one of his fingers. England wouldn't want their star players to pick up injuries in a practice match.
