More news on features and adoption incoming very soon.

Sounds good I'll be buying some up now.

1825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interview With Jeff Smith, CIO CEX on: October 01, 2014, 12:11:01 AM
Not entirely impractically if you're the US Govt, but very very very expensive  Grin Estimates are around $666m right now, to do a 51% attack [1].

---

[1] http://www.coinometrics.com/bitcoin/rix
Even if you were to successfully launch a 51% attack on the network, the "honest" nodes and miners could simply ignore the blocks that were found by the attacking miners so the 51% attack would ultimately not work.

Also any 51% attack must be sustained over the long term and not just over a few hours or a few days, as the network could simply do a soft fork from when the attack had started if it ends early enough
1826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why consumers are not adopting BTC on: October 01, 2014, 12:08:09 AM
Is an unstable product.

Thats nonsense. What i do when i sell something for BTC in my brick and mortar store is the following:

I sell a $40 item. User pays me 10M satoshis. My profit is about 2.5 million sat. I instantly sells in my exchange of choice 9 Mill sats for fiat. The other Mil. its sent to one small account back in the warehouse. Maybe is my retirement plan and i dont know yet :-) But i can happily take a 10% apart from a sale than maybe without BTC would have never realized, who knows.
the stability of the coin vs. fiat can modify my transaction during lets say, 1 hour. After that, all is done and im a happy camper.... I still dont get why 99% of merchants dont accept BTC. its absurd.

Bitcoin is not a good vehicle to use for savings as you describe. The price is not stable enough and it is unknown where the price will be in 6 months, let alone years/decades.

I would say that once places like Dell and Overstock realize just how much less it costs for them to accept bitcoin then to accept credit cards, they will start to offer discounts for paying in bitcoin, which will eventually lead to B2B transactions in bitcoin
1827  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Power Company Tip Leads to Bitcoin Mining Raid on: September 16, 2014, 10:17:01 PM
Guarantee he never gets any of that equipment back and the dea make a nice chunk off auctioning it.  I completely disagree with the "well he served his time for it before so that's probable cause this time" argument.  I think its a waste of time and tax dollars and should of been handled very different.  For example, cops knock on door and says we have a tip that your power usage is off the wall and we're wondering what's going on, may we have a look around?  Knowing they can get their warrant when the guy says no within the hour he would likely let them and explain he mines bitcoin.  Fact is had they busted in and killed the guy (which happens on a regular basis here in the good ol US of A) it would just be "yea we killed him but he had pot", all officers would be cleared of any wrong doing and they still seize his equipment and make their money.
Absolutely right, if he does get it back it's going to cost him a lot of money.
The system is set up that it costs you several thousand dollars to get back property that was
illegally seized. They sure don't just say here is your stuff back sorry.
Even if he does get his miners back they will have deprecated in value by the time he gets them back as the difficulty is rising rapidly (making them less valuable). I also find it very hard to believe that a search warrant would include computer equipment to be seized if it is suspected that the man was growing drugs in his house.

I did not have any money on inputs.io, on CL, or any of your other sites. Nor did I lose any money from any scam.

I see that you have ~300 BTC in what appears to be your wallet. What do you plan on doing with this money and where are the constant deposits coming from?
1829  Economy / Speculation / Re: VC Tim Draper wins Bitcoin Auction, What will happen next? on: September 03, 2014, 03:48:03 AM
Is there any news yet about how much Draper actually paid?

Has he actually done something great with the coins he acquired? I think his plans were quite interesting and could actually help people who are bound to economies that actually slow them down instead of helping them.
I don't think he has done anything with them yet. He has said that he plans to expand the accessibility of bitcoin in places where it is difficult to buy bitcoin today (likely third world countries).
1830  Economy / Economics / Re: Who is behind the flash crash? on: August 19, 2014, 04:24:20 PM
Most likely, this is Satoshi. We have turned our backs on His ideals and now He is punishing us. If we do not correct and turn to the way of Our Lord, He will shake hands so harshly, only the purist of Idealoshis will stay in.
I seriously doubt that satoshi was selling, as this certainly would have made the news (people would see that his BTC that it is known that he mined were moving.

I agree as posted above that it was likely due to margin calls.

1834  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What should I do with over $4-5 worth in BTC? on: August 04, 2014, 04:31:52 PM
Hello everyone, since a few months ago I started gathering BTC from faucets and PTC's based on BTC, and recently I also sold some Latium and Doges(which I got from Freedoge.co.in) at Coin-Swap, and after all that time I have know at the time of writing this $4.60 and I'm waiting for the next Doge payout.

So, you do realize you have gather only $4.6 for spending months on faucets and PTC, don't you?

You should have spent 2 months to get your account to member rank, and should have joined the a sig campaign to get way more than $4.6.

Lol... I got on a site and got a $5 donation of bitcoins! Stupid faucets are worthless unless you can make bots to collect for you!
Bots are even worst. Given that you need human captcha solvers to solve recaptcha and solve media captchas, every one hour, you can only claim once which means that you are making a few hundred or thousand satoshi by a few faucet site. You are not only wasting electricity but you are also wasting money on captcha solving services.
So that leaves you with begging/fundraising. I might sell the info on the site I got the $5 from if I decide I don't want to beg any more...  Shocked

Yeah, I got it to work and then realized that I would never even break even with that hash rate. Plus my computer was overheating!
1837  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: earning on: August 03, 2014, 07:27:02 PM
dont listen to anyone, just make your own plan.

get creative? you need to observe whats already working for people thats whats unsaid.

and theres no easy way out, so good luck to hard work.

Actually there is an easy way out. Send me 0.009 bitcoins and I'll tell you what it is!

or do this, ask people for bitcoin and get a sucker  Wink

but build something like a ponzi which adds the creative side.

I hear of ponzi's all the time but I don't know what they are... But yeah, being a con artist is potentially the best way to get BTC. I wouldn't try a scam, where you sell something fake or otherwise inadequate, but there are sites to beg on that will get you BTC if you PM me and pay for the info. Finally, there's a guy offering to buy newbie accounts for .003 BTC. Pay me .001 and I'll hook you up. PM if you're interested.

I'm obviously a newbie. How much is the escrow fee? Is .003 a fair compensation for what I'd make for the signature campaigns later on?
1840  Economy / Service Discussion / Mountain Peak Literature... Does this seem like a scam to you? on: August 03, 2014, 03:22:59 PM
So I am looking for an honest way to earn some BTC. I saw this on bitgigs.com. They are hiring writers to write for a literature site. I sent a story to them and got an email back that said it was accepted. The site supposedly will be going live in October. One of the suspicious things is that the name the email was from was Octiabrina Syerov, which sounds way too Russian for an English site.

http://mountainpl.com/

Does this look legitimate to you? I wouldn't know if I was getting scammed or not just by the look of the page and the email I got. I don't want to spend time writing any more stories until I know it's at least somewhat reliable. One other suspicious thing is that neither the site nor bitgigs.com says how much the pay is, or specifies royalties. Just that it will pay to your bitcoin address...
