For various reasons I've added a rather nice always online UPS http://www.cyberpowersystems.com/products/ups-systems/smart-app-ups/paragon-series/ol2200rtxl2u.html?selectedTabId=specifications&imageI=#tab-box to my 2nd s4 and found something rather interesting: My 1st s4 on it's own same UPS reports a very significantly higher power draw. Like 290Watts more. Both s4 are Batch-2, the first one possibly was made a week earlier earlier than #2 but both arrived within 1 day of each other (direct vs hosted shipping goof). The UPS's report #1 1,480 to 1,490w load #2 1,100 to 1,200w load. Both consistently reporting as 1.950-2.25THs by my pool. Anywho, in some earlier threads it was mentioned that on some Batch-2, one of the ASIC chains can't/doesn't change Vcore and pretty much runs near max safe voltage. Wonder if that is the case here? Certainly would explain the 290w higher load... I take it that during power-up when the Vcore regulators are either set from a pre-stored value in a Dpot or set by the I2C link one chain is not getting the message... Any way to fix that by Firmware? if it happens all S4's same asic freq. like 200Mhz .. this is definitely have a problem. i am first founder this and i wrote this problem before and i am working on it. fpga cotroller board sending voltage and hash data on same TX pin then 12F1822 collect voltage data then send i2c commands to Buck controller on the BOOT. (bitmain designed seperatly but never used pclk-pio-pen pins. Okay I may grab one or two of these. I am interested in under clocked results.
so is anyone running freq 187.5 with 0.685 volts? if so what do you get for hash rate watts/ power numbers and fan speeds?
better yet has anyone done freq 175 with 0.670 volts? if so what do you get for hashrate watts used and fan speed?

This is my best config, you can leave 2 front Fans. machine temperature not higher 50 celcius. fan speeds around 3000rpm. you can find my J7 problem with this way. if your chain 1 (J7connector is chain1) has higher temperature, you must to check voltage and J7 cable. probably chain1 feeding higher voltage, not our setted voltage. This problem is my nightmare. i am working on it. |

thanks a lot. answer is simple, if device havent got any problem default config is useful but you can see my pics i replace all stock screws too, because all of stock screws is big for this pcb and these are not tight. if you open this case you can remove with your bare hands. poor fabrication. not torked. |

Others perfecly normal only J7 connected hash board is unconfigurable, if you want to proof of that disconnect this board power cord and you will see chain 1 is gone and look at your power wattage. or try to configure voltage and repower again. i have 2 S4 and all of them have same problem.
and i found best configuration and best efficiency (0.52 but not stable) => 187.5 Mhz at 0.685 Volt (you can add this value like that = 0685)

This would mean we can expect this one board to probably be considerably hotter than the other boards. Yes thats right. i can measure stable results, only after i found a master problem and solve it And the way to solve it [for now] is to reduce to 187.5 Mhz at 0.685 Volt?  of course that is lower than 2Thash but also eat lower energy  and also lower Temperature and lower noise like 1800Ghash 1060W i think that voltage adjust problem is master reason of psu's blowing because developers unexpected situation like that. they put a 12V 120A top limit psu and they expect 1200w power usage but not, some of hash boards still working warning limits... |

Hi everyone, i have got a strange problem with my Antminer S4 batch2, i listed founded problems: 1-my S4's has different connections with FPGA controller, one of them is top left hash board connected to J7, other s4 same board is connected to J6. this is very strange or poor assembly. 2-this J7 connector is going to the first hash board i think, but other hash boards red led is off except this J7 connected board led blink. 5 minutes waiting then this board getting hot and another five minutes all boards leds are on. then all of them is hot but THERE IS NO ETHERNET CONNECTION.  3-i worried power comp. and i changed 0720 to 0700 then i measured all hash boards voltages on 1500uF/2,5V capacitor.. wouuwww THERE WAS A PROBLEM! because we can never change 1 hash board's (j7 connected) voltage. this is allways 0750V. than i read confidential pdf of CSD95372B and TPS53641 this is i2c controlled buck converter and this is controlled by pic12f1822 on every hash board. So this 0,750 Volt i measured is over voltage protection limit. i am an electronic engineer by the way. I ASK TO BITMAINTECH, WHY OUR HASH BOARDS HASHING SOMETHING STANDALONE (or why warming up) AND WHY 3 HASH BOARDS VOLTAGE CONFIGURABLE BUT 1 IS NOT ? thanks, any ideas ? Presuming the GH/s is based on clock rate, that would be: 0.75V at 222MH 0.80V at 244MH and 0.85V presumably to add stability at the same 244MH, but at a 30% bump in power for that stability. you cant achieve 0.8V. S4's hardware voltage top limit is 0.75V |
