381  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does skrill allow bitcoin buy/sell transactions? on: December 03, 2015, 11:22:18 PM
AFAIK Skrill and Paypal are very similar. They are both reversible so you must be careful with who you trade with. I don't think either of them are particularly fond of Bitcoin, so avoid doing anything that would link that transaction to Bitcoin e.g. send it as a gift to a friend with no message about Bitcoin.
382  Other / Meta / Re: Should Fwdxwlsh Be Banned? on: December 03, 2015, 11:17:35 PM
Yes I have seen some of useless topics that he created and locked them before someone can post.I think he is upto some mischief why should he be given more chances when he has already exhibited his intentions is absolutely beyond my comprehension.I am all for banning him if my two cent counts
Clearly he is the alt of some high ranking and possibly respected member of the community, yet he doesn't want the good rep of those accounts ruined, so he made this one to troll, shill, and shitpost.

He even admits he has high ranking alts:
I have 17 main accounts all in the senior, hero and legendary ranks and they all talk to each other and I have yet to be banned, so.
383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi's Fortune lower bound is 100M USD(DEBATE GOING ON, DO NOT TWEET!) on: December 02, 2015, 03:31:15 AM
So can i have a wallet address Satoshi used?
Get any address used in the coinbase transactions of the first several blocks

And what program did Satoshi use? CGMiner 0.1?
No, that software didn't even exist until much much later. He used Bitcoin Core (actually just called Bitcoin when announced, it was the software that he wrote himself) mining capability to cpu mine.
384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am terrified that SHA256 or ECC will be cracked and btc will become worthless on: December 02, 2015, 03:21:42 AM
Here, just read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_computing#Potential

It will clear up any confusion about what I'm saying, hopefully.
No it does not. The majority of hash algorithms will not be able to be broken by quantum computers. What quantum computers can do is most likely be able to do is discover the private keys from public keys. However, this does not happen overnight and when such a computer is made that can do that, the developers will have time to switch the network over to use a different method of key generation. Even so, if you are using Bitcoin properly by not reusing addresses, then you will be safe from those attacks. Those attacks require knowing the public key, but the public key is not actually revealed until you make a transaction going out of an address. If you are doing it correctly, then by the time the public key is revealed, finding the private key to it is pointless because the address it corresponds to will never be used again.
385  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain explorer that shows opt-in RBF transactions? on: November 30, 2015, 03:44:52 AM
AFAIK those transactions show up as double spends, so any block explorer that shows double spends will work. Blockcypher.com is one that I use.
386  Economy / Speculation / Re: The future of Bitcoin on: November 30, 2015, 02:42:50 AM
The future project can be that paypal will allow to trade bitcoins, big shows(like amazon) will integrate bitcoin as the payment method etc.
It's impossible that paypal will officially allow bitcoin. Paypal don't like to deal with his rivals.
Actually they do. Paypal payments hub, which is for merchants, takes Bitcoin payments. I haven't tried it myself but on the site it says that Bitcoin can be processed by their payments hub.
387  Economy / Speculation / Re: The future of Bitcoin on: November 29, 2015, 12:05:49 AM
What are the future projections for Bitcoin?
Just go and take a look at the speculation section and you will see what people think the future will look like for Bitcoin. Just take all those predictions with a grain of salt. BUT NO ONE CAN PREDICT THE FUTURE SO IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO KNOW WHAT THE FUTURE FOR BITCOIN IS.

About the whois info, since the guy is using whoisguard and the information doesn't have to be real, it is not entirely reliable. Instead we need to contact the hosting and domain registrar that he used and ask them if they will give up information to help us find the guy.
389  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: bitcoinblackfriday.info - Do NOT use their website. on: November 28, 2015, 05:38:18 PM
I analyzed the email headers that I posted earlier and it looks like the scammer was using godaddy for email, so he probably used it for domain registering as well. Do you think it will be possible to contact godaddy and ask them if they can provide information about that guy?
390  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Faucet Claims on: November 28, 2015, 03:00:44 PM
Yes this is very common. You should not expect to make anything significant by visiting faucets. They are not worth the time to attempt to make a good amount of "free money" You will just be wasting your time. In the time it took for you to make a significant amount of Bitcoin from faucets, you could have done some work for someone and made several orders of magnitude more by doing some actual work in the same amount of time.
391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can anyone help me figure out who sent this? on: November 28, 2015, 02:58:07 PM
Run out of addresses ?? i believe addresses are infinite

They are not infinite, there is just so many possible addresses out there that for all intents and purposes, it is infinite.
392  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: bitcoinblackfriday.info - Do NOT use their website. on: November 28, 2015, 02:56:49 PM
That is the ip of the mail service, which is hosted it seems, so it doesn't tell us too much unfortunately.

JonHolmquist sent me the full email with headers and I checked them for his personal information that could be revealing (there wasn't any). Here is the full thing for people to analyze.

i am hoping a cpl of the other ppl who sent the 3 BTC can come and join the conversation. im guessing they do not realize yet it is a scam.  Angry
You should also check all of the other "deals" on that site and try to find the addresses for the payments. Some of them are legit though, like Newegg (I think it was based on the URL) so double check the site whether it is a scam or legit.
396  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: bitcoinblackfriday.info - Do NOT use their website. on: November 28, 2015, 04:18:52 AM
Never done much work with headers so I honestly don't know which ones are related to my email. I can probably look into it tomorrow and post it.
The only ones related to your email are the ip for your server. It shouldn't have any sensitive information anyways so I think it would be safe to post the whole thing. Your ip address for the email server should already be public anyways.

yes that is exactly what i did. i did it for a good 20 minutes so those were the only ones that came up. i also screen capped them all just in case for evidence. if you create an invoice, you dont even have to fill out your name or anything and it still gives you an address(obvious sign of scam) but i was in such a hurry. i did not notice any of this until after. i know nobody really cares, but if you are feeling sympathetic for my stupidity(which you shouldnt be) here is my address, where you can see me send my 5 BTC into OBLIVION  Undecided

thank you for everybodys help
I will also take a look and look for the other sites.
397  Other / Meta / Re: Idiots of Bitcointalk on: November 28, 2015, 04:14:12 AM

WHO THE FUCK is Primedime/TheGambler.

Why am I being harassed by nothing more than stupid fucking idiots...making comments about me being him/her and destroying a fully legit service.

Similar writing style. - I guess that's because I type in English.
Primedime and TheGambler are known scammers who have been on this forum before. People think that you may be alts of those accounts and thus also a scammer.

Just because you write English DOES NOT MEAN that you will have similar writing styles. Look around this forum. Most of the posts are in English, but not many of them are the same writing style. Writing style has little to do with the language. It has to do with word choice, grammar, sentence structure, where you put line breaks, how you link threads, how you emphasize things, etc, but it has very little to do with the language you are posting in.

not very succesful because of the help of all of you guys, thank you very much. i am such an idiot  Cry

Sorry for your loss.

How did you find these addresses? Were you just creating orders but not paying and these were the addresses that came up? Was this across all of the fake sites or just one of them?
399  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is Bitgold Legit & Paying Now? on: November 28, 2015, 04:06:38 AM
I have an account with them as well, but I have not redeemed any gold yet. I guess the only way to find out is to try to redeem what you have, just don't deposit. If they let you withdraw, then I suppose it is legit. Why don't you try, and let us know if it works?

You can say that I kinda afraid of giving a non well known online business my banking information, but if I can see that some others users here on the forums can confirm that it will be paid then I will have no problem inputting my info for it.
That makes sense. I thought they had bitcoin withdrawals, but I just checked and it says that the feature is "coming soon" Sad

I'm surprised that theymos issued warnings about this, I thought the forum doesn't moderate scams or does anything about them.

Folks from Gyft reached out to me and I sent out a newsletter warning people not to use .info.

So,

The 'founder' of .info is 'Thomas Silva'

No prior history in Bitcoin, released a couple press releases. Used some really shady shit to downvote almost all of my social media posts and upvote his own.

Listed this as his phone number: +1 (424) 241-3613

Listed his first address on his press release as 3370 E Pershing Ave, Orlando, Florida, 32806 which was up for rent some time ago, you can get the property owner's info if you look for it, I didn't bother calling and verifying if a Thomas Silva lives there.

The next address he put up was in his newsletters:

Bloomspring Avenue 122
Seattle, Wa 98144

Which just doesn't exist.

Whois is privacy protected, we're sending in a request to namecheap to take down the website.

"Thomas" sent me an email on November 12th:

"Hello Jon,

I have the headers information if someone who's trusted in the community wants to take a look at it and parse out the relevant bits so I don't give out my IP.

I'm mad that this happened, I knew he was shady since people who actually exist aren't that hard to find, but I just thought he was going to sell people's emails or some crap, never expected it to go so bad.
Are you able to post all of the headers and just scrub out your ip address? Just replace all instances of your ip with an xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
