1  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to learn bitcoin software development without downloading whole Blockchain on: October 27, 2018, 01:09:04 PM
Agree,  testnet is a good choice in your situation. Or even regtests (see test/functional folder in bitcoin sources with python tests in it). This variant allows you to start many nodes on one PC and to model different complex situations, write and test your code from very beginning and don't require free space at all, I recommend to use regtests to learn bitcoin programming.

Hi. Is the PID-based difficulty adjustment algorithm described anywhere? It would be great to see some formal description,  not only the source code,  it is really interesting idea.)

If your idea is to eventually play d4 (or dxc4 after c4) opening the queen and then e5 hoping the f6 knight will move so you can play Qxh7 check, it wont work. If it does work it will prove we are not really playing a GM.

I don't think that such kind an attack is a bad idea. Look at beautiful king's gambit in Morozevich-Anand http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1018654, for example, both of them are GMs.)

Now there is only 1 black figure at the king side. So if we could manage to place or direct 3-4 our figures to that side and could not afraid to spend 1-2 figures for the pawns during an attack, it could be nice game.)

That's why I like h3, when we will open b1-h7 with e5, we will simultaniously force black knight to move out of the kingside.) But I'm afraid it will be difficult to force community to try the attack with sacrifices and without clear perspective.
4  Other / Off-topic / Re: Lets play a game of Chess on: September 23, 2015, 08:29:45 PM
I like h3 too.) b3 doesn't save us at the queen side in any case, h3 is uncomfortable for black at the king side, we can quickly open the center after black c4 and start active game at the king side.
5  Other / Off-topic / Re: Lets play a game of Chess on: September 22, 2015, 06:18:29 AM
Hi. Iteresting idea, I like long chess parties.) Let me in too.)

I have several thoughts.
1. We can allow to vote for several moves, I think it is more correct variant.
2. May be we should vote for the strategy for several moves before we vote for the move?
3. I think that if TS is world class player, we can't win or even survive just defending our position, we should attack in some point no matter how week our position in other points, it is the only way to have a chance to win. ) So,  I like Ng5 or h4: play fast, die young.)

What do you think about this? Sorry if I missed some discussions in this topic about this ideas.)

Hi, languagehasmeaning

Don't try to build it,  it can be difficult because of the possible issues with QT.
Simplest way to get GUI at Ubuntu:

wget http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/boolberry/bbr-linux-x64-v0.3.0.41%28abcdeab%29.tar.bz2
tar -xvjf "bbr-linux-x64-v0.3.0.41(abcdeab).tar.bz2"
cd boolberry
chmod 777 ./qt-boolb.sh
./qt-boolb.sh

it starts GUI app. Wait until it downloads current blockchain and you can use it after that.

Sorry for long silence,  it is not very good,  will try to post regulary. I hope,  ziodberg will find some time to write something about current status too.

First: the coin is not abandoned, for sure. I can promise that if I'll decide to quit this project,  I'll declare it in public. I can't promise for zoidberg,  but I'm sure he will do the same in such situation.

Second: current status. It is not changed very much for last month: main part of the gui client is ready and is in the main repo. But it contains many issues,  it requires testing and fixes for this issues. It is not C++ development,  it is html+js coding now. Why is development so slow? I'm new in html+js coding, and I have a full-time job,  so I can spend only about a 10-20 hours a week on the bbr development. If somebody can help in testing or html coding,  I'll be glad.)

About the bbr-economy: it is really cool.) I have several projects in my head too.) But I think it is important to implement multi-sig for such kind of projects before. If you can implement it without multi-sig,  I'll be glad to help you if you need it,  my skype is jahrsg, my email is scruffy@nakamoto.pw.

If you have any quesations,  fill free to ask me.

If you send payment to poloniex without a payment id, they can't detect your payment automatically. Now they can try to identify your payment manually, but there is no guarantee that they can do it. There is a possibility (it is just for example) that somebody tells to poloniex that it was he who send this transaction,  in such case poloniex can't detect who is really send it (remember, that BBR was created as non-linkable and non-tracable currency). That's why it is very important to use payment id for such transfers. Wait for poloniex reply now, they are the only people who can help you in this situation.

Anyone want to try this out? Windows executables.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/105316582/cpuminer-multi-128M_scratch.zip
It has experimental avx and avx2 binaries. Only tried them in wine in linux, so don't know if they'll work on real hardware. Virtualbox doesn't support avx extensions, so I couldn't even test the executables there.

Win8.1, Intel i7 Core:
avx2 is crashing, avx is slightly slower then simple minerd from this zip (140kh/s instead of 160kh/s),  I've runned them for about a 5 minutes both.

Anybody know if you can buy and sell to yourself on Poloniex?

No,  you can't,  I've tried once.

It seams you are using 32-bit version of Windows. BBR has only 64-bit daemon and wallet.
When 64 bit is ready?
i can use virtual box machine? and install version 32 bit?

I mean BBR has 64-bit version now, your windows has 32-bit version now. I don't think 32-bit version of BBR will be ready soon. You can setup 64-bit version on virtual machine if your hardware is 64-bit (most part of modern hardware is 64 bit, that's why we haven't 32-bit version of BBR).

It seams this transactions were not really send. Can you rebuild your wallet data file as it is described here - http://boolberry.com/howto.html#rebuild_wallet_datafile ? Be carefull with key file or you can lose your bbrs.

No offence, but why are you downloading a new wallet from someone with less posts and a different source then the official one?

Yes,  you are right,  it was a bad idea. Even if it is not something bad in this case,  it creates a bad habbit to use untrusted sources. I will remember about it in the future.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry: Privacy and Security - Guaranteed[Bittrex/Poloniex]GPU Released on: December 28, 2014, 09:26:25 PM

Also I noted the wallet can no longer be opened by 2.0.41.  Lucky I had a backup, but I did use a wallet with a small amount.  I did not try the  latest download above.  I will try later, if I get some time.

Thank you again,  the version on the last link is much more stable.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry: Privacy and Security - Guaranteed[Bittrex/Poloniex]GPU Released on: December 28, 2014, 09:06:02 PM

recent transactions tab is not working for me.

  • When I tried sending an amount (using an alias) I got a "Failed to send transaction: wrong payment_id" error.  I think this is because the payment ID text box had the "PAYMENT ID..." text.   When I cleared the text then it sent the amount.   However, there was no visible feedback other than the balance getting reduced.  It took me several clicks (=several sends) to notice.
  • Also I was not able to start version 2.0.41 later - it was stuck with "Loading blockchain data..." status. I started the app from a folder that I copied from the Windows Programs folder. I did try it from this folder prior installing the test version and it worked OK then.  It appears that the blockchain is not interchangable.  The test version is able to use the 2.0.41 blockchain but not the other way around. I had to clear the Windows Roaming folder, and re-download the blockchain.  Perhaps the recommendation should be to try the test version on a different computer or to save the old blockchain from the Windows Roaming folder prior to running the test version.

Thank you for your help,  sorry for corrupted blockchain data.(

This is the fix for issues listed in quote above: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24069897/bbr/v6/setup.zip, only windows installer or sources at github again.

Is there an osx version? If there is, I'd be happy to test that.

Not yet,  I haven't osx installation now,  will be ready soon.

send and recieve tested, working fine here!

Thank you for testing.) Are there any issues?

And one more thing: Search doesn't work now,  it will be implemented in next version.

We need your help in testing of the new version. I'm sure it has some issues,  but it is difficult sometimes to find them for the programmer even if they can be obvious for any other person.)

So,  if you have some free time, try this beta version of new wallet and write here your notes or errors you can find. It is beta-version,  so it is not in official boolberry repo now.

Windows installer: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24069897/bbr/v5/setup.zip
Sources to build: https://github.com/jahrsg/boolberry/tree/new_ui (my boolberry sources fork, "new_ui" branch in it).

Please,  be careful with new version, backup your wallets key files before testing, don't use it with wallets with big bbr amount.

Thank you in advance.
