eXo_coin had an unfortunate matter recently. he is doing fine and will be back to bitcointalk soon. We will release 0.63 (improved sync procedure) soon then as well.

I am currently working on the osx gui build.

A lot of work done. Close the project in October - a bad idea. I am willing to wait.
There are those who are willing to wait. And those who are not willing to wait.
It is necessary to solve this problem.
Every project needs deadline, because in future it will become useless.
Developers disappeared again.

2 is ok. We will increase that to 6 later on this day.
network is ok at the moment. Initial sync probs should have been better but, I must admit, it is still fiddly. Proxy software is doing a good job so far as well.

Please wait for the next small update(1-2 days, including linux release) which will improve initial sync (not only in terms of speed).
Next message from me in ~10 hours.

is this coin going to launch? I invested in the IPO and its been 9 months already.
31 October is deadline. If devs do not launch until this date, devs will cancel project and return money.

Did dev declaim that?

we decided to rework/update the roadmap.

linux+osx builds:  3 days, needed for launch, especially the fix of the missing core functionalities, except miner adjustments
proxy support:    2 days, urgently needed for launch
external service support: after end of open beta, since it is not urgently needed before launch
udp flow control: 2 days, urgently needed for launch
code review:      4 days, urgently needed for launch
open tickets:      3 days, needed for launch (only a few of them. Other tickets will be solved after the launch)
gpu miner implementation: 10-18 days, urgently needed prior to mining start. We would, however, like to have it almost done prior to launch.

I'm on a business trip for est. 15-20 days unfortunately (starting on 6th August). We (including me) will continue to work on it nevertheless.

== final open beta test with a client which is targeted to be completely ready for launch within August. This maybe includes a working gpu miner. Otherwise we will make the beta test and release the gpu miner shortly thereafter. External service support and other points will be finished thereafter.
I'd like to be at home for the final beta test, using some days of holiday to monitor the test actively. So eta for the final test would be: returning home + 2 days.

The final test is assumed to work flawlessly. If that's the case (with the experience from latest 0.61 and the great improvements over prev. versions I think that is likely to be true) - we can make the marketing, design etc stuff end of August. I'd see the real-launch then 7-10 days after start of final beta test (see above). Thereafter we would finalize the API for the exchanges and gpu miner. Thereafter solving the other open (and new) tickets.

I know some of you are frustrated with our timeline and our ETA statements in the past. Software developement is hard to estimate, especially in such a field. Nevertheless if we can meet the launch's eta above, then we created a new crypto from scratch within less than 9 months. I think that is actually pretty good anyway with so few manpower. With the combination of PoS and PoW we created more work than deciding for one way uniquely as well. The chain async bug ate up about ~ a month of work in sum as well.
Last but not least there is a high responsibility for launching a crypto coin. We don't want to rush a buggy client.
The claim to have some work outsourced to willing community members is a nice idea, and we are glad for any help. However, we hardly can outsource any coding work at all. What we can do: make a contest for a website design. The winner will receive a bounty. That would include css,html,images but no further php logic since we will keep our php logic.

You can have 3 definite statements from me - you can quote them in future if you like:
- we dont want to release a buggy client at launch. Of course we cannot guarantee bug-freenes of the client (that would be impossible) but we do the best to have it solid before launch.
- mining won't start with only a cpu miner. We do not want to support large botnets. When mining starts then there will be a gpu miner solution which performs significant better than a i7 processor.
- We try to have the launch in early/mid september and the final beta test in late August. If we will not have eXocoin launched before 31th October 2014 then we will quit the project completely and refund all investments.

I hope you find my statements above reasonable. The deadline is needed to ensure that we don't try to delay it again and again as some kind of strategy or whatever.  The next weeks will be full of hard work and the business trip is bad timed. Please understand that we will focus on the development and I won't be able to catch up all those dozens of pms, messages here and mails in-time.
I also hope that you feel better with a new eta (ok they dont mean that much I guess...) and especially with a deadline.
That said I will from time to time continue to write here about progress, and within the bugtracker, twitter and our homepage.

best regards
eXocoin

math exercise  Cheesy
0.59.4    ->     0.6      16 days
0.6          ->    0.61    38 days
0.61       ->     0.62    42 days
0.62       ->     0.7      ?? days

Not enough data points to prove any series but as I'm on my break I'm going to make a prediction that looks like it has a strong mathematical basis  Grin
If we assume v0.59.4 = 0.594 for ease of calculation, we get the following:

0.594  -> 0.6   = 0.006      16 days   0.006/16 = 3.75x10^-4
0.6     -> 0.61  = 0.01        38 days  0.01/38 =   2.63x10^-4
0.61   -> 0.62  = 0.01        42 days  0.01/42 =   2.38x10^-4
0.62   -> 0.7    = 0.08        x days    0.08/x =    <2.38x10^-4

So we can see production has slowed so we will call the version/day ratio 2.19x10^-4 to be generous... 0.08/2.19x10^-4 = 365.29 days. Or a year. And weirdly that's exactly how long it feels like it's taking  Grin Grin
Great calculations.

If beta test of 0.62 would be without problem, will be there another beta test of 0.7 version?  Huh
