That fixed it. I pasted them into pandacoin.conf and put it in the Roaming/Pandacoin directory. Started syncing right away. :-D Thanks.

With the skill-set you have right now,you should be accepted any smaller organisations or say like a start-up organisation easily.Especially for linux based admin's there is a wide scope in the industry.Where are you located ? I might hook you up with a few start-ups .

I'm in Encino in Northern Los Angeles area. I'm trying to limit my commute to 30 mile radius. A start-up to be a good idea would have to have someone capable in the skills I don't have and only need me for what I already know or be willing to train me which would be ideal. I thought it would be easy to be accepted with my existing skill set as well and have applied for almost 100 positions but so far they have selected someone else or afraid I would get bored and not stay long for the entry level positions or most commonly not respond to my application at all. It would be great if you could hook me up with any company.

I have no experience with virtualization, clustering or website administration. At least not with the high level software commonly used like VMware or Apache Tomcat . I've worked quite a bit with various NAS but never with SAN. All of my experience is at a much lower level with common Linux tools. Like LVM and NFS. I understand the principals of these things and having the higher level tools would actually have made my job much easier. Having to work with the low level tools probably has made me more intimate with the processes involved but the techniques I've used would not be practical in a larger data center. I need someone to start me at an entry level and put a little effort into teaching me the higher level tools. I should take to them easy given my background. I've done a lot of scrypting but using c-shell primarily. C-shell was the API for the engineering application I specialized in and I got in the habit of using it for everything.

I'll check these out. You're right. At this point every little bit helps.
Thanks
8  Economy / Services / I need a job on: December 31, 2015, 05:24:34 PM
I am seeking an entry to mid level Linux System Administration position or any related opening. Actually I'll take any unrelated opening at this point. I have been unemployed since last May and my family is food bank poor. Unemployment insurance has run out and we are barely scraping by on my wifes paycheck. I'm not looking for crowd funding or donations. I need a job. If you are in a hiring position or someone that could bring this to the attention of someone that is you can help a family of 4 in a big way.

I have many years experience as a System Administrator but only in smaller environments with around 10 - 20 Linux / UNIX systems. I am trying to find a position in a larger Linux environment and expand my skill set. I am trapped in an awkward place where people think I have too much experience for entry level positions and unsuitable for a senior level position because of skills that I lack. My primary job killers are no experience with virtualization, clustering and web site administration. I have no Mac experience. I am also in my late 50's. Computer years are like doggie years so I am about 1000 years old in computer years.

My core skills in Linux/UNIX System Administration are solid and should be immediately useful to your team. I'm experienced in installing, configuring and troubleshooting software and file servers using Red Hat & Fedora Linux, HPUX UNIX, Windows and their associated networks. I have experience scripting repetitive Linux tasks. Working via shell is not a problem. I'm experienced with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). I have a strong background in customer tech support over the phone and training end users in person.  I have a very strong desire to learn new skills (I desperately need to learn new skills.) while applying my current skills to any tasks at hand. I have been the primary IT support person for the engineering groups at the companies I've worked for so I am skilled at helping when the printer wont print, copier is jammed, email doesnt work, computer won't boot, etc. etc. etc.

I am available immediately and flexible on my wage. Please make me an offer. My wage expectations have been destroyed and I will accept just about anything. Full time, part time, temporary, anything. Any shift. Send me a private message and I'll send a link to my LinkedIn profile that contains detail on my employment history and should give you more insight into who I am and where I've been. If you think there is a possibility I'll email my resume with full contact info. I'm trying to stay a little hidden because this whole experience is humiliating and I'm embarrassed if past coworkers see me.

This could be you some day. Here is what happened to me. Over the years I've become very specialized in electronics manufacturing and engineering environments. LA county has become increasingly hostile to PCB manufacturers due to chemistry used in their processes. Most of these companies have closed or moved to Orange County. This is why I need to find employment in a different type of company. My wife has a very good job with insurance benefits and we live in her family home that she was born in and are extremely reluctant to sell it. This is why we don’t move to Orange County. I have 2 boys, 10 and 12 years old. They don't really understand how broke we are and are relentless in their requests for tennis shoes, video games, movie rentals and countless other mundane things that were always taken for granted in our home. Nothing can make you feel more like a failure than having to chant “no, we dont have any money” to your kids constantly. A surprising number of people I thought were casual friends like my kids friends parents and such treat me like I have the plaque. I think they're afraid we will ask them for something. I should have seen the writing on the wall for my industry and sought work in data centers of some kind years ago. If you see your industry fading or your skills are to specialized make moves to correct it or life can get very hard very fast.

If you think there's a possibility you can help me find a job, please take the time to try.

I know guys that cant resist a coin flip. During the holidays company gives out 25 USD gift cards for local market and several guys start flipping coins for cards. Dice, roulette wheel, coin flip. All could get people buying panda to play and get panda moving.

A wallet with a gambling tab would be fun. Panda dice between wallets with user defined settings for how many rolls, stop if gain/loss greater than, etc. with small percentage for devs.
A decentralized exchange built into the wallet would be cool. Display offers for exchange with amount and other coins address?

A wallet with a crypto coin and stock ticker might give people a reason to keep their wallet open and staking. A tab displaying list of a users holdings with user definable sites to get quotes from would be cool.  This list could drive what is on the ticker. Dare I say it? Ads in the ticker to help support the devs? Count my crypto site is an example of something close to this. If a user could disable display of ticker, why would anyone object.

A tab with stats like where your wallet ranks overall. Any encouragement for people to buy PND and try to be in the top 100? Perhaps reward the top 100 with a new coin (baby pandas) that can only be obtained in this manner.  Undecided

I'm a PandaCoin believer as well. I have always liked the look and feel of the wallet and the old website. I got started mining panda on the old website or had the illusion of mining panda. I hope the new panda retains the look and feel of the old. I like cute animals. I like the 72 hours until it starts staking and the daily payouts from staking. It makes me feel good to have the PandaCoins arrive in my wallet a few times every day. I hope any new strategy doesn't make the wait too long. It would be nice if the new coin was POS and POW. Why not make everybody happy. Multiple asic resistant algos and a screensaver miner would be great for new users and old users like me. I like mining bytecoin on minergate as an example of an easy cpu minable coin that I enjoy accumulating. A screensaver miner that only mined when my computer wasn't in use would be better. I have to start and stop the minergate software constantly to keep my computer running smoothly. A wallet that would automatically back up the wallet.dat file with user defined from, to, frequency and start time would be convenient too. Looking forward to panda 2.0.

Thinking about name for new coin. Bitcoin named after bits in classical computers. Classical computers aren't going anywhere but a large part of the future, especially regarding cryptography will run on quantum computers that are based on qubits. New coin could be named Qubitcoin.

My laptop broke. I have a wallet.dat that is a few weeks old and may be able to recover the wallet.dat from the laptop.
Does it matter which I use? if I use the older one wont it be updated and correct once I finish downloading the blockchain?

Is there a list somewhere of the coins that can be mined on steak cloud? All I see are the coin logos and I'm not familiar with them all.

Hello,
I want to mine this coin, can you help me?

Go to steakcloud and read the getting started section. It is very easy. There are only a couple of panda addresses showing. If more people don't point at least 1 or 2 miners to this pool they will probably delist pnd. If you are still having trouble post type of miner, software and start command if applicable and we will try to help. Better to use public forum so others can benefit.

is there like super beginner instructions for how to even set up mining. I am new to mining at all. Like do I need a special program for it or what? I really don't get how it works. I have a windows 7 OS. I would like to try mining some mints but I need some help. I already watched the video on steak cloud but how do i mine from my computer or something like cpu? I don't think I want to pay to rent mining rigs from some website, because would that even be profitable, since then id have to sell my mints for more btc to rent the machines.

if you join IRC i'm sure someone will gladly help you. It's just too many questions that would flood pages of the forum so it would be easier to join IRC

Just for fun I pointed an antminer s3 averaging 435.37 GH/s at steak cloud. The first payout was from a partial shift and small. My first full shift payout was 10833.39825300 mint. I like to stake mintcoin with the wallet they provide and plan on sending any coins I mine there. I live in Los Angeles and electricity cost is very high. If you calculate the cost for mining mintcoin or any other coin in LA you will find these are the most expensive coins you will ever purchase. It makes much more sense financially to purchase coins of any type rather than spend the same amount on miners. If you don't get electricity free or very cheap forget about profit from mining. You'll never even break even on your miner cost. If you get free power from a dorm room or rental and run miners the landlord will notice the spike in the utility bill and start looking for the culprit. 4 antminers can easily fully load a 20 amp circuit and pop breakers. If you pull the plug when fully loading a circuit with miners you'll be surprised at how hot the metal blades on the plug are. The wires in the wall are that hot too.

That said I love mining. I sold most of my mining hardware but still run a small group of different miners. It's a hobby and people blow money on hobbies all the time. I have a couple of antminers pointing at steak cloud mining different coins for fun. I'm fascinated by mining equipment and crypto coins in general. I run the antminers and 4 different types of scrypt miners. The electricity cost versus return is ridiculously bad but I enjoy tinkering with the hardware and software.

If you want to mine with a cpu, try minergate. They provide the software to download and it's very easy to setup and run. I like to mine bytecoin there. When you cpu mine your cpu will get hot so your computer needs to dissipate heat well. Not generally a good idea on a laptop. Lots of fans are a good idea. I bought a cheap workstation on Ebay and use it to run miner software and stake a few different coins.

I like to to tinker with mining and have to point them somewhere and getting some mintcoin in the process is a bonus. Good luck checking out mining it's a good thing to stake and mine. It supports the coins network and it's a lot of fun to learn about it all.  Grow your hoard of coins and don't sell any. Who knows, maybe someday they'll be worth something significant. ;-D

Pretty sure this is a full shift payout from Steak Cloud with 1 Antminer s3 averaging 494.77 GH/S = 160246.41829073 PND
The 1st payout looked like from a partial shift and was much smaller.
Maybe we can mine our way thru that 2 Satoshi sell wall on Bleutrade. Bit by bit!  Cheesy
