2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's about time to turn off PoW mining on: September 05, 2014, 04:40:09 PM
Btw, you can hold BTC in Bitshares  Grin
LOL

yhea .. but you cannot just switch of mining in bitcoin.
1) the people heavily invested in miners
2) you need a very well tested alternative blockchain security scheme
3) you need to switch over all merchants, exchanges and users AT ONCE with an hardfork

I am not so sure if the bitcoin community is up to that radical change!
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitsharesX Price Speculation on: August 24, 2014, 05:46:40 PM
Is the bitUSD market still expected to go live on Monday?
sure .. why not?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitsharesX Price Speculation on: August 24, 2014, 05:37:52 PM
Once you "get it" ... you will understand that it will work

wether the bitUSD will be woth exactly 1 USD or maybe +3% is out of any ones control .. the market will decide!

exciting times ahead
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It looks like NXT has taken the 4th spot from BTSX on coinmarketcap. on: August 21, 2014, 11:56:47 AM

I went to coinmarketcap and saw that after Litecoin, Bitshares X was the next legitimate decentralized crypto-equity. Now I notice that NXT has taken over BTSX's 4th position (If you count Ripple).

BTSX it was good knowing you.

Amazing victory of Nxt!!! Nxt Go Go Go!!!
 Smiley

LOOL .. anyway .. btsx has like 15% plus on the 24h price while NXT has like -8% ?!

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitshares-PTS to double/triple in price in the next 45 days!!? on: August 14, 2014, 04:17:59 PM
I wouldn't own any coins right now. Altcoins are taking a beating.
Just FYI ... PTS are no altcoin .. they are an investment in future DACS .. take a look at the confirmation times currently and you will see that this coin will not be used as a traditional coin any time soon ..

BTW. while peercoin, litecoin and peercoin lost almost 12% .. pts lost 3% .. and btsx about 1% .. thats not what I call "taking a beating"
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: FollowMyVote // BitShares Vote on: August 14, 2014, 04:14:13 PM
Seems like a no brainer to me. This is going to make a lot of people a lot of money. Get in while you can, if you aren't already too late  Wink
Wouldn't say its to late .. but earlier would have been better as usual Smiley
for example .. AGS donation period is over .. those guys made a pretty good deal ..
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Official BitShares X support thread. [BTSX] on: August 14, 2014, 04:13:04 PM
Went out and bought some PTS. Couldn't help but think I missed out the train earlier in the year. Now is as good a time as any though right?
maybe you also consider getting a few BTSX ... (legal: no investment advice)
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Namespaces DAC - BitShares-PTS Snapshot date 21st Aug on: August 14, 2014, 04:12:01 PM
Loving that even exchanges are taking part in this. They know it is a big deal to their customers so they don't mind doing it.
And they are not some crappy smal exchange with .5 BTC in total daily volume .. these two are huge ..
and i bet the next exchange to come will be poloniex Smiley (wild guess)

there also is a demo wallet available with a few BTSX taht should be enough to register a couple of names ...
search the bitsharesboard and you will find it ..

do not empty it ..
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitShares IPO : get in if u r smart ! on: August 13, 2014, 05:30:56 PM
Like testz mentioned, check out the bitsharestalk forum and discover your own opinion.

All I can say, really. For all the technological marvel, Bitshares marketing has been pretty poor and information is not that easily accessible. It also means that if you make a bit of effort you will be getting them at a discount than otherwise possible.
You are right ...
- marketing was and in some parts still is poor
- information was difficult to gather but now there is plenty of infor on the wiki.bitshares.org
- the last statement is absolutly true .. if you invest some little time to get what bitshares is all about you might gain alot by investing (legal: not an investment advice)
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins To take seriously: on: August 13, 2014, 05:28:36 PM
I'll also chime in for BitShares.  When I first heard about 'Protoshares' - I was skeptical.  However, I've been researching and following this development for the past 10 months, daily; and am completely blown away.  This platform is the bitcoin killer, and I don't say that lightly.  Think of any problem any other crypto has, and I'd challenge you to find out if its not solved through the BitShares platform.

The 3 MAJOR issues I believe BitShares has solved are:
  • Transaction times - 10 seconds. On the dot. No more of this 10 minute confirmation [ON AVERAGE!] B.S.
  • More decentralized than bitcoin by orders of magnitude - there are what, 5 mining pools?  BitShares secures the network through DPOS (delegated proof of stake), through 101 delegates that are elected.  You choose the good guys, the bad actors simply cannot sustain their efforts. [also a hat tip to the US founding fathers...1776]
  • Volatility - With the coming advent of user-pegged asset markets; one can store their value, cryptographically, in an asset that has relatively low volatility in comparison to bitcoin (i.e. the US Dollar - this will be 'bitUSD')

BitShares is your 'savings' to your bitcoin 'checking' and MUCH MUCH more.  I cannot say enough good things about the core team and their efforts as well.  Good people doing it for the right reasons, not hiding behind pseudonyms, because they don't need to.

Further:
- inherently anonymous transactions on REGISTERED account names instead of ugly addresses
- atomic cross chain trading
- user assets and market pegged assets
- open source toolkit which already allows easy-to-setup altshares
- have I mentioned dividends getting payed to shareholders?

Oh man, this platform has that much awesome features it's impossible to see all the possible outcomes of that scheme .. just read the white paper of bitshares VOTE and you will see what I mean!!
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitshares-PTS to double/triple in price in the next 45 days!!? on: August 13, 2014, 04:25:57 PM
Actually if you have PTS they will convert 1:1 Bitshares once the mining period for PTS is over

If you donated BTC or PTS to AGS fund you would receive BTSX shares for every PTS/AGS  you held before Feb 28th snapshot
That is only true for DACs that snapshot after all PTS are mined ...
and only if the amounts are the same ..

in BTSX the total supply is 2billion .. so you got like 500 BTSX per PTS ..
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DUAL snapshot for BitShares PTS! on: August 13, 2014, 09:29:47 AM
I can see PTS go through the roof Smiley
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: FollowMyVote // BitShares Vote on: August 10, 2014, 05:31:40 PM
The VOTE will be really exciting stuff ... bitsharesX here and there .. but VOTE will be very experimental high tech stuff ... I am getting more and more excited the more I read about it ..
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DUAL snapshot for BitShares PTS! on: August 10, 2014, 05:30:02 PM
KEEP YOUR PTS IN YOUR WALLET ON THAT DAY!!

Btc38 apparently is taking part in the snapshot, but remember you don't follow too closely you might miss out on snapshots - there is going to be a DAC flood soon. So better to keep them in your wallet when you are not trading.

BTER.com recently announced that they will also honour the snapshot
https://bter.com/article/2278

I will HODL!
20  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-07-28] CD: Coinapult Launches LOCKS, a Tool to Eliminate Bitcoin Price Vol on: August 06, 2014, 08:16:22 AM
I think that everyone in this thread should take a look at bitshares-x (http://bitshares-x.info).
Basically is a distributed bank were you can hold your deposits in any currency (first iteration will have bitUSD, bitGold and bitBTC).
These are market-pegged assets or collateralized network issued IOUs .. If you have 1 bitUSD it will always be worth 1 USD worth of BTSX (the crypto that this network use).
The pegging is being done with a prediction market running in the blockchain that have 10 second confirmation time using DPOS (delegated proof of stake).
BTW: This bank makes money with transactions fees, inactivity fees, margin calls fees and this revenue goes directly to the shareholders. Just owning the underlying crypto BTSX (the one that bitUSD is backed) you are a shareholder.
For me is the most innovative thing ive seen since bitcoin.
Sadly the OP is about eleminating btc price volatilty .. I am pretty sure most people
around do not realize the power of the bitUSD and the bitGLD ..

if you guys don't know what bitUSD is => blame educate your self
