383  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your opinions needed. How sustainable is BTC mining longterm? on: December 19, 2015, 04:37:03 PM
I'm writing a paper on bitcoin mining (and cloud hashing services), and I'm wondering what your opinions are on its sustainability longterm considering different factors like increasing electricity costs (it has been going up in fiat value), price volatility (especially at times of low prices), competition (miners out doing other miners hashing power) and the halving of miners' reward

Do you think it will be sustainable for decades to come?

BTC is the first experiment of crypto currencies. I`m sure a coin (or maybe several coins) will pop up that will:

1) Need far less mining power;

2) Offer super fast transactions;

3) Address bloating issue and finally

4) Offer real anonymity.

More time will pass, better people will see the deficiencies of BTC`s features.

In the long run BTC is not a winner even in the mining field.
384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone looking to build an Altcoin exchange? on: December 13, 2015, 11:03:18 AM
PM me! if you are thinking of building an Altcoin exchange! i have an idea to make it something unique and it can attract a lot of people who don't feel good complex trading systems!

Why don`t you discuss your idea here? It would be interesting if more people take part in the discussion.

The development of the Stealth Project has never been stopped. It is going on as before.
386  Economy / Speculation / Re: Incoming $163,000,000,000 market cap and $7700 coins on: December 09, 2015, 11:19:50 AM
People who claim that BTC will worth dozens of thousands of USD per coin normally forget that on the market there are already several digital currencies that 1) offer much faster transactions than BTC; 2) offer higher level of anonymity; 3) already solved scalability issue.

BTC was a first experiment of digital currencies and it`s far from being perfect. Nobody know which coins will be #1 in 5 or 10 years.

Blocknet Ethereum is the most advanced project in crypto right now

^FTFY

ETH is Turing-complete; Blocknet is a toy in comparison.

Having been leapfrogged in technology, Blocknet will be obsolete before it's finished.

389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains | XBridge | true cross-chain P2P on: December 04, 2015, 09:40:36 PM
Blocknet is backed with several high reputed devs. That`s why I entered in this token recently. It`s true that my favorite coin - XST - participates only technically in the this tech, but the tech itself is a new step forward in crypto universe. I believe in BLOCK.
390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Multicurrencies | Test Net Live | Unmoderated on: November 30, 2015, 08:52:40 AM
I tested Multicurrency platform last week-end with test coins. Truly revolutionary tech. Staking feature is disassociated from the principal coin: while staking is going on with BRX, the entire number of BRO coins remain under the control of the user.

From what I see in the brief whitepaper of Multicurrency (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1170055.msg12320403#msg12320403) crazy ideas can be realized from this tech.

I`m syncing since 2 hours now. The new Qt 2.0.2.0 lets you download more than 60.000 blocks per hour. Very smooth!

In case anyone has been following, a semi-critical architecture dependent signature exploit has been found that can cause the chains of many cryptocurrencies to fork. I learned of this exploit only two or three days ago and have been researching it and determining the best fix, which seems to come from Peercoin.

I have updated github with the fix to this exploit and have been running tests.

https://github.com/StealthSend/Stealth/commit/e18175fe125b196d9bb1f25d3234f7eef3759b9f

In addition to patching this exploit, I fixed some longstanding synchronization issues, which I will be testing over the next couple of days.

https://github.com/StealthSend/Stealth/commit/540f745c4924f0c98661bf0cfeac85fbc48e8533

I will have new builds available within a day, but they may not be signed by CryptoCertify. Since release is timely, I won't wait on the code signatures. As soon as the signed builds are available, I'll replace the unsigned builds with the signed builds. This could take as long as 5 days. The issue with CryptoCertify code signing is my own mistake. I did not know I needed to manually approve the signing cert after it was re-issued. Because I missed the window of approval, I had to restart the issuance process. It may take several days before I can approve the cert and sign the builds.

When syncronization testing is done, I will issue an alert so that block explorers and exchanges update to the new sources (version 2.0.2.0). This alert will be issued within a day.

A description of the forking bug can be found here:

Pretty cool!

I believe the lead dev`s message will reassure XST followers that StealthCoin never stops to develop. Its development goes on in Stealth mode, that`s why it is called StealthCoin Smiley

How does FAI network ensure anonymity? Through TOR? I2P ?

Quite impressive. Will watch closer.
395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whats happend with ripple? on: November 18, 2015, 03:43:11 PM
Hi whats happend with ripple?
The volume is 200.000 this days..

A while ago it was 2.000.000
Anyone know why?

From 30th of October it`s mandatory to get verified on Ripple in order to trade. There may be many accounts that are still waiting to pass the verification. It may be the reason of the decline of Ripple trades.

Let's choose our words accurately:

after they cut XC off and left to die

Utter nonsense. XC is in "stealth mode." It is not dead, and is not abandoned.

We have a finalised DX protocol implementation, and I'm pretty excited. Stay tuned.

What is DX?  Decentralized exchange?

Are you guys working on anything new? Are the transactions truly anonymous? thanks

Yes,we are working on StealthSend which will render fund sender fully anonymous. Other projects will be released shortly after StealthSend is live.

At this stage StealthCoin has native Tor and stealth addresses which masks fund receiver.

400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bullish Percent Index for cryptos on: November 07, 2015, 08:42:06 PM
Hi all.

I will make a new P&F chart for BPI for cryptos. I decided to use 20 coins, including of course BTC.

Help me choose the next 19. You have 3 votes. Use them wisely.

I think that the 50 coins listed here are more than enough.

If you want a not listed coin, post here and we will see what can be done - I won't take into consideration newbies accounts.

DO NOT START comparisons and fights on coins. You will make me lock the topic.

Mods I think this is best suited here (Speculation) because BPI will help to determine if the general trend in cryptos is about to change (so we can start fishing the bottom or selling the top of coins that still have not catch up with the new trend, including BTC - eg if we have many alts giving buy signals while BTC is still in bear mode this is a signal to start buying cheap BTCs).

But if you like move it in the alt section.

EDIT: The coins are listed in no particular order!!!

EDIT 2: More on BPI -> http://stockcharts.com/school/doku.php?id=chart_school:technical_indicators:bullish_percent_inde

EDIT 3: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1151078.msg12120908#msg12120908

EDIT 4: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1151078.msg12121417#msg12121417

So have u chosen these 19 coins? If yes, which ones?
