Listen, I never even heard of your little alt coin until I heard the discussion between Joe and Dave on that podcast I posted! Personally I don't give a flying fuck about your little project that another 500-1000 coins are doing the same thing! Get off your high horses. If untrue, don't shoot the messenger! Correct the source of said information (Dave seaman).
I lol'ed. You certainly do give a "flying fuck" because you're ranting about it, and you need to feel good about yourself. That's okay, we understand. Do you maybe have a temper problem? Just calm down. He never spoke to bryce for 1, DOnt know where you got that, David is a tool yes, But hes spreading bullshit about your coin. If you dont care about that fair enough. I never said you were bryce either!
Let's look at some of the contradictory things you've said. 1) David actually DID speak to bryce. Did you even look at the youtube link that HYPERfuture posted earlier? You don't even care, do you? haha gotchu. You DO care apparently. That's why you have to keep going on a delusional rampage. 2) Who's calling who a tool? I don't really know David, but I think he's a reasonable guy, and I'm pretty sure he has done more for the cryptocommunity than you have. If he did say bryce was involved in any way, please send actual hard evidence? If you link us a 3-hr long video, it'd be nice if you specified which part it was in. That way, we can actually have something to discuss. 3) You actually did accuse HYPERfuture as bryce. In your very first post, you say "Hyper coin is Bruce's creation YET AGAIN!". Umm, what? It doesn't even seem you remember what you wrote. You're a troll. Peace, And no offence was intended. Im just harsh and to the point. Yeah, you're harsh. But, I guess you don't like being treated the same way. I'm PRETTY SURE that you are being offensive. If you can't even see that in your own posts, then you clearly are psychotic.

Interesting discussion here! I have been trying with a group of people to keep coins afloat that were dropped by their devs. Since the amount of dropped coins is so high, we decided to take over the support of one coin mainly.
It is a lot of work to keep the community active and keep innovating. People pressure you to go with the latest fad, but until now, we have been resisting that.
Looking at the things you guys mention, I think the dev, the community and the longevity are the most important. Things like services and extra features require a lot of time from the developer and usually come with an ICO or a premine. This in turn leads to people running off with the money and keeping the BTC to pay off bills. The incentives are all wrong.
We'll just keep supporting our coin and see it as a long term thing. In a year or so, we can reevaluate how successful we are.
Good luck with your coin! That's pretty awesome what you are doing by trying to revive a coin. I think that if we realized how similar the ultimate goal is between coins, we would see coin communities joining forces and making stronger coins in the end. Even I, as someone who loves and promotes HYPER, would like to see combined community efforts. It's hard to get out of the mindset of "my coin is the best! I don't care about other coins because I know they are worse!". And if everyone does that, it's a bit disheartening. Coin communities that can get along should consider working together. Don't just waste time dreaming away. Get off your asses, and make things happen!

I completely agree. There has to be experienced people who really understand their field especially in regards to finance/business and how it relates to cryptocurrency to get things moving, especially before a release. I can't argue against the fact that experience does look good on paper and may attract investors or more serious players.

I think a good coin has a team with motivation, skills or the aptitude to learn new skills, and constant ideas. The team needs solid goals. The coin also needs a supportive community in which everyone can be a contributor to the success of the coin, and it should always try to attract new members and fans. The coin should also have a real-world purpose. It can't be just stuck within bitcointalk or a closed community. Having a really awesome coin with state-of-the-art features are great, but the coin probably will have trouble with adoption if it focuses too much on the tech. There will always be a way to improve on an existing coin.
Also, I don't think experience matters as much as the drive to learn and to actually accomplish things. It's more important to understand what experience provides and why it's beneficial than having experience itself. That way, anyone can continually be in a learning state. So, it's very possible a new person could be more valuable than an "experienced" person on a team.

SSL/TLS on transportion layer for any links between client and server, and server and database. Encryption for "data-at-rest". Attention to server and database security (i.e. firewall). Redundant and constantly backed up servers and databases. Spam and DDoS protection. MFA supported (optional) for sending transactions and logging in. Multifactor authentication, ability to lock payout address, deposit addresses that change for every transaction.
Not sure what the big deal is with changing a deposit address for every transaction. In an exchange, your account is associated with your addresses or any new address that is created for any transactions that you make with your account, so there's no reason to create a new address for every new transaction. I can see that this could be beneficial for someone who creates addresses offline outside of any exchange or service in hopes to not let anyone ever link your behavior with any one of your addresses, but an exchange is an exchange. You have an account on an exchange and your addresses will be associated with your account. However, I don't see this as a big deal at all. What's important is if the exchange is able to obfuscate the transactions that you make by moving the responsibility of transacting on behalf of a user through a "super"-address that is owned by the exchange. This is done by moving your funds into this "super" address. This way, even though it may be possible to determine that your address is linked with a particular exchange, it is not possible to determine the transactions you make. In this way, it adds a layer of security that is unique versus creating your own addresses offline because it's difficult to track what you do, considering the exchange does not store the transaction history that is linked to your account. EDIT: I can see that if the previous address was deleted and its connection to your account was totally wiped, then I understand changing the deposit address for every transaction would work as a security measure. Not sure if this is good practice tho. Think of it like deleting your private key (wallet.dat if we use qt as an example) and starting all over for every new transaction you make. Is this what bitcoin was designed for? I'm not sure. For me personally, a new address for every new transaction is edging towards paranoia.

Nice project. Sounds like you'll be very busy for a while! If it's open-source, when do you plan to show the repo? I could maybe contribute here and there when I have time. I'm pretty busy myself.

btw who is the dev? (so hard to keep track around here).
and is this the same hyper I lost to sharex?
The dev who started the coin is HYPERfuture. "weiner" is not associated in any way with HYPER in terms of development. It is a completely unbacked FUD. I never heard about sharex until now. Now that I'm browsing back, looks like sharex has been shut down. I don't think we would know whether you lost HYPER or not to sharex. ahaha

Wow, I love seeing all these ideas being discussed! In all honesty, I'd been looking for a coin that I can really focus my cryptocurrency energies on, and HYPER is definitely it. Falcon, as HYPERfuture already said, the store for trading virtually anything for HYPER is sorely needed, and would be an amazing addition if you'd like to start it. As a tip on that subject, Newegg already accepts Bitcoin, so I think it would be easy to begin trading HYPER for items sold there (and Newegg happens to focus on computer hardware & technology, so perfect inventory for gamers). As for the use and earning of HYPER on the game servers, you guys gave me an idea...not sure why I didn't think of it before. You're absolutely right that tournaments really only work once the server already has a somewhat large player base, and right now more players is what we need. I've already been trying to improve that front on the StarMade server (since it seems to attract random players who've never heard of HYPER), by including info on the login server message, and a link to this thread. However, there still aren't enough regularly active players to begin hosting tournaments (yet), and I have yet to find a way to truly integrate HYPER into the server (sent a message to the StarMade dev, but haven't heard back yet, and my own research into the subject hasn't found anything yet either...that's a lot of "yet", lol). But, a good way to begin getting HYPER used on the server is to implement a way to spend HYPER for in-game stuff. I think I can set up a thread on the HYPER forum, to allow people to set up trades in-game, where they can spend HYPER to receive resources or credits. I would have to work the transactions manually, but it can certainly be done, and the incentive is certainly there, as starting out in the game can be very laborsome, so an infusion of resources or credits can be very helpful early-game. I'm going to be very busy over the next several days (moving to a new house), but I'll try to get the system set up as soon as I can! We're currently developing plugins that can be used within game servers for server admins to easily incorporate HYPER for whatever they need to do (and also provide functionality for the players themselves). Ideally, people should be able to use and send HYPER directly within the server, and admins could set up automated rules to distribute HYPER rewards. It should be integrated within the game itself. Currently, it seems all the server owners have to manually do the transactions themselves. The only issue with game server plugins is that they are usually specific to a particular game. The good part is that there are games that use the same engine. For example, CS:GO, TF2, GMod, and DoTA use the Source engine, so adapting a plugin for each of those games is a lot simpler than creating a completely new one that could just work for one game. To help alleviate this issue, an API is in the works. Both the plugins and API will link with the web wallet that is currently being developed. Creating a marketplace is really hard work. haha. I would recommend pushing for HYPER integration on existing platforms. OpenBazaar is one of those projects that is pretty exciting, but it's still very early-stage and hasn't been completed yet. Also, a marketplace is a lot different than Hyperbundle. It's going to take a lot of dedication and time to build. If there is a github repository, I would be happy to contribute where I can, although I have lots of other things to juggle atm. I really like the idea of decentralized exchange. Just please do not use CounterParty for these purposes. ClearingHouse is much better suited for this purpose. Firstly, CounterParty operates on Bitcoin blockchain, and everyone knows about the speed of the transactions in the Bitcoin network. ClearingHouse operates on ViaCoin blockchain, and there is a transactions within 1 second. Secondly, the transaction fees in ClearingHouse network is tens or more times less than fees on the CounterParty network, which is very important when users will trade.
As for the decentralized exchange, I think we have something in NXT Asset Exchange, but I don't think that is going very well last I checked. ClearingHouse looks interesting.

Hyper is pretty cool, indeed, but I just never really like it when people spam other threads about their coins. I completely agree with you about the spam part. I'm just here to appreciate what you guys are doing. Keep it up! Perhaps, GMC and HYPER can join eventually down the line.

I agree with Ignatius, and I also back up HYPERfuture. He's been very helpful and responsive to whatever I throw his way. He takes questions and feedback seriously. There is no doubt whatsoever as to HYPERfuture's dedication to HYPER. I've been actively developing a project called Hyper Gaming Gateway (more info can be found in my sig), and HYPERfuture has been very supportive since the inception of the idea. Ignore the trolls. There are more important things to do!!

That coin has a 2.5% premine and does not have a lot of potential for growth any more. Our coin on the other hand has just went up x10 in value and can easily grow by that amount again! Haha, I didn't think I'd see you here, Falcon! I just found out about this because I found the coin on bitcoinjs-lib. I think the Game4commit fork off peer4coin is a wonderful idea. I like the development going on here. Neat projects! I wouldn't come to conclusions, Jonesd. I think what you guys are doing with GMC is great! I think HYPER will also see awesome growth!

Falcon let me know if you want to make a HYPER trading site like eBay for HYPER. This is desperately needed and I think you would be perfect to manage this project. I am also happy to hear ideas about how HYPER can sponsor more game servers that use the currency in different ways. Also we do need to have HYPER trading for other in-game tokens and assets. We can do this on a HYPER for eBay that you might set up Falcon. We could also do this on a decentralized exchange like Counterparty so there are lots of options! EDIT: for now people can also trade ANYTHING for HYPER on Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/HyperTrades So if anyone has anything they want to sell for HYPER they should post it there! Also ANY steam game can be bought 15% off at Falcon's awesome http://hyperbundle.com site. Yes, I think a site like eBay would be great! It's a natural fit to what we want down the line. My only worry is this: what if eBay begins to accept cryptocurrency? I also see other eBay-like clones that people have started, but there's nearly not enough traffic at those sites. Anyway, I do think creating this would be a big but very rewarding project for HYPER! As for ideas, source games like CS:GO have the ability to create custom servers with lots of different customization. I see a good use-case of HYPER within servers with zombie survival or jailbreak mods. Also, Garry's Mod has a lot of opportunities, too. I think what Falcon is noticing is what many of us feel as well. As the person who created hypergg.com, I also think there are not enough players playing on these servers. Most gamers don't know a thing about cryptocurrency, so we also have the problem of people not knowing or trusting cryptocurrency in the first place. Second, personally I think a faucet-like server is good to have but doesn't do much in terms of inspiring community-building. Community is such an important part of gaming and making HYPER succeed. Third, tournaments are good only when there's a large community that is excited and pumped about the tournaments taking place. Perhaps, people can take the initiative to promote HYPER and the tournaments within the real gaming community. Friends usually follow and trust their friends, so as soon as people who are not part of the bitcointalk community join the HYPER movement, more and more people would start to take notice. I also think part of problem with HYPER is that people don't know what it is or how to implement it in their servers. Also, the web wallet would be helpful for many gamers, so both the game server plugins and web wallet are something we are working on right now! Ideas are ideas until they come to fruition, and the HYPER community is working hard to make that happen. It's only a matter of time and resources. As get past this stage, I think we would have very different conversations. hopefully haha. Another thing that I am slightly worried about is outsourcing work to devs who may not necessarily care about HYPER. We can wait for people to join in or we can actively promote it within the forums. One thing that I see is that not enough people are promoting HYPER outside of this thread. A post here and there within other threads and even forums outside of HYPER could work wonders! Oh and one other thing, it's worrisome for me when the main website hasn't been updated in the past couple of months (or an year maybe?)! heh. I think it's awesome that we can have these conversations. It means we really care about HYPER's future, and we should deal with these issues as soon as we can. Acknowledging and addressing problems is such an important step for growth! On another note, HYPERfuture, I think we need a testnet for HYPER, so people can more easily run tests for HYPER transactions.

How about functionality or module to report someone with a drop-down or radio button of a list of common reasons (like spam, inappropriate behavior, etc)? If someone has been reported many times, the staff is able to research and give a temporary or permanent IP/email ban. The reports can not be seen publicly, and the number of reports decays over time. If people want to create new accounts with new emails/different ip address, then that's what they want to do. If new members are restricted to a section of the forums, that can get really frustrating and deter those who want to actually contribute and be part of the community. I do like the # of posts/time idea, but if that's going to be done, might as well do that for everyone.
