I want to clarify that a Kickstarter pledge is not like ordering in an online store. We are building a project for the Gridcoin community and the backers help us realize that project. Obviously there can be unforseen issues during the development of such a project from scratch. This fact combined with high expectations that we have ourselves and only a small (but growing) development team leads to delays. We would like to apologize for any inconveniences. Additionally I would like to point you to the Kickstarter conditions ( https://www.kickstarter.com/terms-of-use): "At the same time, backers must understand that when they back a project, they’re helping to create something new — not ordering something that already exists. There may be changes or delays, and there’s a chance something could happen that prevents the creator from being able to finish the project as promised." Quez Only five months of delay from the original promised date, and the give a fantastic compensation of 200 GRC. How many GRC can have they made with the 50 PiGrid sold during this 5 month? You think it's nice and fantastic, from a bit more realistic point of view I feel goxed. And with no project update for more than a month, last on 27th March and they told that time that PiGrid was almost shipped.

In future updates you will be able to choose between pool mining and solo mining mode. Great news Quez, does the PiGrid device connect to a pool?

We have a nice advertisement banner running on boincstats.com again. Last time we advertised for a month we jumped from 500 to ~1400 active researchers. I am looking forward to see the number rising so fast again

I think because lots people can't setup the wallet and can't wrap their head around how GRC actually works. Lots of complicated concepts, config file editing in obscure windows directories, we still haven't mobile wallet, which is a big deal. Most people these day's don't even use pcs, they just use their iPhones and iPads. We are still growing at a steady rate, but we could do much much better me thinks.
You are right, but I have a good feeling about additional dev power. One way or the other, we will get support for mobile devices and all-in-one solutions that grandma will be able to use

I really like the concept of this coin. Are there any other similar projects? CureCoin seems like one.
Are there any catalysts on the horizon for a big price rise?
Other coins: Yes there are similar Projects. CureCoin works with Folding at Home I think (folding proteins). Then there is Primecoin, letting you calculate prime numbers. Well, that is both something Gridcoin does also support with Rosetta@Home and PrimeGrid for example. And very much more. Catalysts: Well, Gridcoin Quant (the hedge fund) is on the "schedule" for the next months as well as another mandatory in March if I remember that correctly (content will be binary superblocks and more DAOs support I think). PiGrid is still developing and about to reach a first version that will be distributed among the kickstarter backers. Personally, I am very excited about all those milestones. In general, Gridcoin is very undervalued. Its the Proof of Research coin that makes a) POW just look stupid (wasteful) and b) POS look like a natural Matthew Effect scheme. I cant understand why GRC is not amongst the top 10 or even the top 5 coins. Quez

Have no doubt GRC will go big. But: Constant low volumes on exchanges combined with a downtrend makes me think there are some big holders just sitting on coin maybe going nervous and might dump. Will happily jump in when those 2 things look resolved. Both things will be resolved. In case it does not happen by itself due to people jumping onto the GRC train from both investor and researcher side, it will when Gridcoin Finance and our hedge fund kick off -> https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/11357-gridcoin-finance-project/BTW I guess the coin is spread more than one would think. Remember, Gridcoin exists for more than 2 years now and we had phases of more than 100 BTC of volume/day. Yea. I noticed that. Any ETA? I (as in only me) do not have an ETA assumption. As you can read from my latest post in the thread, I am also looking for a kind of roadmap for this process ( https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/11357-gridcoin-finance-project/?p=208957). I think the only bigger thing keeping us from going live with the hedge fund is legal stuff, but as you can read from the thread on CCT, we are making huge steps in that regard. My guess would be its more like a few months than a year until the first iteration of Gridcoin Quant goes live.

Woh what is happening to GRC price?
I assume first there were people who wanted to jump up on the Bitcoin bump in the end of last year. So they sold GRC. Then other people started panic selling because ... I dont know because they were panicking? Well, nothing changed technically, Gridcoins development still goes on as you can see and it works fine. We have great things ahead. Probably its a good time to buy in... well, I did Quez

Gridcoin Research 3.5.5.8/MSI=39.6 Leisure Upgrade - Modified GRCRestarter so that downloadblocks uses the new 960gb anti-ddos host (and modified height to be correct during download) - Fixed bug in Foundation Expense/Campaign Add to not throw a poll error while adding an expense or campaign - Added a new RPC command to allow data to be stored in burn transactions, and modified the RPC to report on the data (or custom beacons) in listreceivedbyaddress: a. To burn gridcoins with a custom data payload, execute the following: execute burn GRCBurnAddress GRCBurnAmount BurnCategory This_Is_MyBurnMessage Note that you create your own Category (for example if your project is called Asteroids, maybe use Asteroids for the category). To report on the burns, you may find the TxIds and BurnCategory and Burn Messages with this command: listreceivedbyaddress Note: The output will be JSON and the Key and Data values will only be in the JSON when they are populated with data.

With Research Age we now have - 6 months lookback period instead of 14 days
- a maximum magnitude cap of 20000 (now its ~850 to get the maximum payment)
- Maximum research subsidy in one block will be 13500 instead of 75 right now
That means we can now support/pay 180000 researchers in theory because one staked block in 6 months will be enough to be paid out completely. And as we have 1000 blocks a day over 180 days we can support 180000 researchers/miners which means "unlimited" scalability. The past system could support ~800 or less. Again, everyone is researching on his own, there are no pools necessary to get fully paid! If we ever reach 100k researchers I believe we will find a solution. The easiest one would be pools, but that means centralization so we would like to avoid that.

To start Gridcoin mining, in theory 1 GRC is enough. The more you have, the FASTER you will stake your first block. The amount of GRC staking/being in your walllet has no effect on the amount of mined GRC by research. @ Amazing: What you can do is encrypt your walllet and unlock it for staking only. Then it can't send more beacons. Usually it should stop sending beacons once you are in the superblock. It is normal that the GRC Adress field is not populated in the execute beaconreport until your first reward AFAIK. Whats your CPID? I am curious whether we have an issue here or whether you just need patience I suppose its the latter. Be patient the first GRC will come in soon! Also: Don't expect payments every day if your balance is quite low as well as your magnitude. But remember, we have a lookback period so if you stake one block in 6 months you will be fully paid for all research done within the last 6 months. How long does the magnitude take to update after I deposit balance to my wallet? is it 24 hours? I have 2000 GRC in my wallet and saw two Beacons going out for 0.0011 but my magnitude is still showing 0.00 Depending on the projects you participate its possible that your magnitude will stay very low. Whats your CPID and which projects are you researching for? Well within 24 hours you should definetely be included in the superblock. My magnitude right now is 46 how long before I receive the first payment? That is okay, the first payment might take a while, depennding on your balance. A balance of 1 Million GRC will take 16 hours to become mature from the time of being transfered to your wallt plus ~1 minute to stake, a balance of 1 GRC will take 16 hours to become mature plus ~weeks to stake. The rest is somwhere in between. Watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jX78dSvg8kg (~500 GRC, 3 days)

Hello from 'IndiaMikeZulu.'
Guys, we are an active group of Australia krypto geeks. At present, our Bitcoin exchanges are under flat-out attack from the banks. And electricity is expensive here.
And Gridcoin keeps getting mentioned as a candidate for cpu mining. (Your community members on Reddit Doge cryptocurrency do a good job.)
So we're interested to ask some questions. That is, Australia might become a enthusiastic outpost of Gridcoiners. Will pop in tomorrow.
Mark
