So, we had 27% of coins from the total supply stolled and do not know who is a victim!)
If we don`t know the victim`s name in the future who will decide what to do with the stollen funds?
Where did the hacked coins come from? Was it from cryptsy or a different exchange?
If my calculations are right that 62 billion is 27% of the circulating supply.
It was from Cryptsy derived addresses. Cryptsy was the biggest Altcoin exchange in 2014-2015, people kept a lot of coins there. These coins were not returned to legitimate users ( never keep coins at exchanges) and their outputs were frozen in official wallets, it looks like someone who had a control on these addresses by having their private keys, used unofficial wallets and a lot of hash power to overcome the protection, and not all Cryptsy coins were sent to Vassilis' address. Some people mentioned that up to 17 Cryptsy derived billion were already dumped, I don't know if it's true, anyways, exchanges were told to monitor the situation, and after that 62 bil went to Vassilis' address. It was not a donation, these coins are 'unofficial', they belonged to users and majority of their holders agreed to freeze them earlier. It was a small world in 2014-2015 and we know old members who are legitimate owners of majority of these coins. Also people have submitted Cryptsy claims in 2017. Obviously, Mooncoin could easily reach 15-20 Sats, if this situation didn't occur suddenly, now even junk coins have a market cap bigger than Mooncoin's one. People worry that coins can be dumped, that's why they panic and sell their MOON at these levels. We always discuss everything here in honest and transparent way. Some people even complained earlier that it indicated a lack of professionalism and marketing skills. In fact, very likely these coins will sit on Vassilis' address for months. Community members have different opinions on what to do with them. So maybe even in 2019 they still will be on the same address. My suggestion is to burn them (except for coins which people will claim), but Vassilis needs a confirmation from lawyers that burning of coins (even if their legitimate owners agree to burn them) is legal. There is a lack of crypto laws/crypto lawyers, so it can take much time to confirm that 100%. I agree 100%. Mooncoin is 4 years old and its community is big and strong now. Of course we talk for an undervalued coin, with some very important projects and news ! |

Don't forget that Vassilis is transparent. He earlier provided his real personal data to the community.
Investors can stay private, it's normal, but a dev who codes and compiles wallets should be transparent, and both, barrysty1e (James) and Vassilis provided their personal info.
We all know that some days ago the protection with Cryptsy coins was hacked (barrysty1e's protection was hacked, not Mooncoin, frozen outputs were accepted by the network, while private Mooncoin keys are safe, just as LTC, DOGE, BTC private keys) and 62 bil coins went to the Vassilis' address.
He published this address in his Bitcointalk signature earlier, he received several mil MOON to this address from the community as a donation,
and some days/weeks after that he also received 62 bil hacked coins to the same address,
so if Vassilis had bad intentions/was going to hack MOON,
then obviously he would never transfer coins to his transparent address and never would tell anyone that he received them.
The situation was a complete surprise for him and for the whole community.
For now, please let him think everything over, to discuss things in detail with lawyers and to make a step.
Vassilis already said that he would never spend these coins, because they don't belong to him,
also it's just illegal to sell/spend them, and he doesn't want to become a criminal.
Obviously it will take some time (maybe weeks or even months) to figure everything out.
Coins will just remain at his address during this period. He told he generated that address on a safe machine, and now he's keeping this PC offline.
Please be patient and don't ask him to give you coins for 'development fund' or anything.
It's not legal to spend these coins.
Please show some support for Vassilis in this not simple situation.
This situation will be the best test for unity of our community, for our dev and for security of Mooncoin.
After the issue is solved, there will be no arguments any longer for not listing MOON at big exchanges.

I want to inform the community with the following: 1)I met with Vassilis yesterday evening. 2)He confirmed that he coins will be safe until lawyers find a legal way to act. 3)That he receives a lot of threats via Discord and Bitcointalk that's why he doesn't communicate until the situation is resolved. I believe that we need little patience. I am optimistic that this issue will be solved soon ! So, the path of success for Mooncoin will be open... |

Unclear situation with blns of stolen coins can cause a deep submersion of currency.

Many people believe in Moon, but have no clue what happened, and how it happened. It's normal that this activity attracts a lot of attention. Depending on the outcome, and how happy people are with this outcome, you coin will or will not go to the moon. Since it's this amount of coins I'd suggest talking to the Cryptsy Cryptocurrency Administrator and a lawyer. It's not only about what people want, but also about what's legal or not. I lost 57 million mooncoins from Cryptsy  , reallly wish I could get those back. I had lost many more coins at Cryptsy. But what will be better, say, you have now 20 million coins and their price is 7 Sat. Or you have 20+57=77 coins and their price is below 1 Sat due to dumping. Or even worse: if coins go to the court, you have only some miserable compensation in BTC or in USD for that. But the point is not what we want. The point is what is fair and what is really legal and wise in this situation. In my opinion, burning coins if majority of their holders agrees with that right now, is legal and fair. The point is, what is legal and what is not. What is legal in one jurisdiction, could be illegal in another. Generally laws are based on ethics and fairness. If there is a lack of crypto laws, it's okay to act according to fairness and ethics. These coins were already returned to the community and are in hands of our dev at the moment. The majority of their holders decided already to burn coins. If someone wants to get his/her coins and not burn them, even if major holders want to burn their coins, then please tell now. But in this case he/she should have a legal proof that he/she is a legitimate owner of some amount of these coins. I agree 100% with you in this case ! All these people who want his lost coins (from cryptsy) back, must be have a document as a legal proof that they are the really owners of these coins. |

Please, community forgive me for my silence! My life 2 days now is a real nightmare! I get pm's from threats until asking money! I check every few minutes if anything missing from the account! The wallet is shield with the key and are not in network from yesterday. Now is in my law consultants hands in privacy and secured for my personal safety. Facts: The 1st wave started after the announcement of the new dev(me) The 1st wave used the old wallet.(the new wasn't working - in previous post i have post the commit/fix which published 1 day after the wave) The last wave which came to my account happened ~1 day or less after my last communication with exchangers which ask them if they can block a series of addresses/transactions.(I have no reply yet from both)(I guess I'm in their list now!  ) Good morning ! I have a question: Do you imagine that to receive in your lucky Moon address (in your signature) some extra billion coins...? I believe that you will do the best in this case ! |

Hi guys! I feel very weird and I'm shaking right now! I don't know exactly what happened.. I have no communication with Vernon and I think I'm the newest person in this forum(~1 month). With polemarhos found this weird address... and you can't imagine the shock when I realised that was mine! My address is published by me on bitcointalk and on discord, as donation address, i think ~3 days ago.. so, if i was a thief this will be very stupid from my side! The story is weird.. I started active development on Mooncoin about 1-2 Dec 2017. You can check the github repository.. https://github.com/mooncoincore/wallet/commits/master(commits are the change i did) For my good luck.. Barry had a bug in miscalculation on specific amount in memory pool(all we are able to make a mistake) and the new wallet was not able to send any transaction.. it was good only for observation. 14th of December we saw the 1st wave of Vernon account moves. The good think of me is that until Dec 15th and commit 3006d54 on github with the fix, the new wallet wasn't the reason of move.. because was useless! So Vernon for sure used older version! And this is proof I had nothing to do with those moves. With simple words, in a de-centralised coin is not possible to control the accounts and the transactions after they insert in blockchain! If any coin control the blockchain then is very suspicious and with big question mark.. who has the control? It's against the philosophy of de-centralisation. The wallet is opensource and anyone can alter the code.. the majority of the network wallets decides if anything is valid or not! But the principle of data not ethical limits! Now those 62billions are on my account!(i think the amount and i think i will fade out!) I am in communication with several members to see what we will do and how will managed this amount!
