1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Minera v0.6.1] Your next mining dashboard - Networked/CPUminer/CGminer/BFGminer on: November 08, 2015, 10:10:55 AM
I cannot make my antminer U3s work with minera any longer? i have updated cgminer to 4.9.2 using the built in script (nice feature).
But cgminer claims no devices was found. Tried superuser setting, manual/terminal start and config of cgminer fra the minera bin path etc.

Any experiences?

And yes, i know all about U3 issues Sad but these have been working recently.

just loaded the new image, seems to work very well here. Thanks!

However, it seems to be cgminer 4.8 still? isnt 4.9 the latest? and that seems to be better with my antminer u3s.

Got two issues i would like some hints on how to start debugging
1) cgminer stops (and restarts) quite often. The cgminer log from the gui seems to only show logelements for the currently running cgminer. how to see what caused issues and then a restart of the miner?
2) Minera stops responding every once and a while. both ssh and http. And no work put forward to the pool either. Where should i like to figure this out?

Very happy with the minera concept by the way;)

Thanks!

You should really buy something else than the supplies provided with the units from Bitmain... The factory supplies gets worringly hot and my U3 on a new and better supply is more stable.
(Sorry mikestang;)

Can anyone point me towards an absolute 110% complete idiots guide to setting up wifi on my Minera image?

Check this https://github.com/michelem09/minera/wiki/Configure-Wifi

@visvas check your cgminer log, you can find it in the bottom of the dashboard. For "stop" what do you mean?

Log seems to only be from the last time that cgminer started. It restarted about 26mins ago now, no interaction from me or otherwise.
Thats what i mean by stop. minera seems to have been running fine, but for some reason the miner had to be restarted. Its that i would like to have a look at in a log somewhere..

totally new to Minera, but really likes the concept so far:) which logs should i look into for trying to figure out why the miner stops sometimes?

Using Cgminer with two antminer u3s. Pi 2. latest Minera.

Minera seems to handle reset/restart of the miner sometimes, but not always.

Thanks!
7  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer U3: Decentralization continued. Order now, Ship on Nov. 5th on: March 06, 2015, 06:45:03 PM

I bought two more U3s, however, I cannot get more than one of my 3 to run at the same time

Is there something special that needs to be done to get multiple units running at the same time?  Any of the three work by themselves.  Thanks for suggestions.

Never been able to have more than one running "stable'ish" at a time on a windows computer. I can them both up and running if i only have one plugged in as I start cgminer, let it start and then hotplug the next one. But they wont run for as long then. Tried all combinations of usb ports, hubs, cables etc.
Seems to be an issue on Minera as well, but it handles the reset itself, at least sometimes.

I'm currently running stable actually  Cheesy, giving me an average of 63Gh/s, with the following options. --bmsc-voltage 0830  --bmsc-freq 0982

How long have you been running stable with such a high voltage?

A couple of days. testing out different options/tunings in a not so structured manner;)
reducing volt to 800 and keeping freq and --bmsc-options 115200:0.54, see what i'll average on then.

Got my second unit up and running on Minera on a new Pi 2 now as well. Always had issues with that one, only giving me around 42Gh and a bit unstable.
But minera seems to handle it quite well, had some fall outs untill i enabled auto restart/reset. So far quiet happy with minera, expect i havent been able to get any of the parameters for tuning to work. Picked up the U3 like nothing at least.

Using the cgminer version from bitmain, february dated and a cleaned up U3 with a new power supply and new usb cable.

Note that this is just with a single unit attached. With another at the same time both units are really unstable. The other working unit i have is unstable alone as well though... Tongue

Going to try a raspberry setup with the other units now, just got it delivered, but  minera takes forever to download.

WTF?
I have reinstalled the WinUSB Driver V6.1.7600.16385 with Zdiag Version 2.1.1 Build 674!
Months before this i have installed and used WinUSB Driver from Zdiag Version 2.1.0 for my
Antminer U2 and the Rockminer RBoxes!!!
The Antminer U2 and the Rockminer are using the WinUSB Driver V6.1.7600.16385 without problems!!!
If i plug in the USB from Antminer U3 my Windows 7 64bit will install the same WinUSB Driver as for my Antminer U2 or Rockminer Rboxes.

Antminer U2 / Rockminer R-Box and Antminer U3 are using the same WinUSB Driver.

DO NOT TELL ME ANOTHER TIME I HAVE TO INSTALL WinUSB Driver!!!
The Driver is installed and working fine with my other Miners!

Cgminer 0.4.9.1 don't recognize the Antminer U3.

Roll Eyes  Huh

No need to get worked up about this, it's actually a quite common error and myself i experience several times that i need to reinstall the winusb driver with zadig for the exact same u3 on the same port as i first installed it. Just check it at least...
cgminer have had native support working from 4.8, with a few new parameters specifically for it in 4.9. That part been working fine here both with the precompiled windows bin and my own compiling on ubuntu.

Thanks, testing one at a time alone now, believe it's one of them causing the most issues, so might send that back.

But just to be clear, i love the concept of these little units you guys made, how very well they fit with the need of a hobbyist miner. Silent, small and wife friendly:)
High hopes of the next generation of them, hoping we can get some experience shared here from someone testing the new ones.
12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: February 09, 2015, 07:42:59 AM
@Visvas,

what version of U3 are you using?  the new cage looking version or the rice cooker version?

Cheesy the rice cooker version. Rough metal with holes.
13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: February 07, 2015, 08:44:29 PM
Quick status around our "clean it up" testing etc.

Been running the two (out of 3) semi working u3s for a while. Both cleaned up neatly, applied non conductive paste, Noctua NT-H1. One of them has a new psu, Chieftec AC Power Adapter CDP-090ITX 90W.

Unable to have any consistent data on the psu effect on performance here.
Units are very much ureliable, needs to be reset at least once a day. Clean up doesnt seem to have affected reliability.
Getting better performance with cgminer from bitmain, but the latest version with changed parameters compared to the last 2014 version seems to be slower. Hopefully more stable...
Both units running open, no cover, and with extra cooling surfaces attached to the heatsink.
14  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: January 28, 2015, 08:01:15 AM
Done some more testing her, got hand on another u3 as well, total of 3 now.

1) Did work for a little while pretty well. then stopped functioning at all. Test different psu, cables, powered hubs etc. Cleaned up inside, still dead. Got a refund from Cryptocrane
2) The other one from Cryptocrane worked, but a bit slow. Faster now with the cgminer 4.8 build from Antminer, might be that one optimizes a bit better than i managed myself. Cleaned it up inside as well, no issues with just this alone now, nearly ever zombies. Directly connected to the pc, usb 2 port.
3) the new addition, reportedly unstable and zombie'ing. Cleaned it up inside, applied new paste etc. Working pretty well, but something wrong with usb recognition. I have to install the winusb driver again if i unplug it, even if back to the same port.

If i start cgminer with both connected, it fails. Starting cgminer, adding one, waiting till it runs, then adding the other, and they seem to be stable for quite a while. Not working with both of them on the same hub.
Zadig freezes if it believes driver install failed (even though it actually installs)
15  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 2 x Bitmain Antminer U3 not running the same speeds? on: January 23, 2015, 08:15:39 PM
Have you tried to run them with bfgminer???

bfgminer doesnt seem to find them at all. native support from cgminer 4.8+
16  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 2 x Bitmain Antminer U3 not running the same speeds? on: January 23, 2015, 09:27:34 AM
Yea I have 2. I opened one and cleaned all the paste very preciclsy and with proper tools.

It seems to have fixed the problem. But now the other one also runs fine.

So its wierd. Still trying to work out.

Some people say to use a powered USB since the U3 might use a bit more and cause reset on the USB port and force a "crash" on the driver.

Using powered usb hub is not a bad idea. Just find the one that using MTT chip.

Having similar issues. What do you mean with the last statement? MTT chip? i bought an icybox IB-ac611, didnt really solve anything.
Lots of people having issues with the U3 stability and performance by the way
17  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: January 19, 2015, 07:37:51 PM
Been trying to run my U3's for a while now, with a powered USB hub as well. Bought an Icy Box IB-AC611.
Does not seem to be a good idea however.
1) i plug in only the U3 that works best: a lot of plug/unplugs to get it up and running with cgminer. Averages at 45. Zombies very very fast
2) i attach the same directly to the laptops usb 3 port. averages at above 60. not stable, but maybe zombies only two times a day
3) I plug both into the hub at the same time: Always gets an error saying the last unit attached on usb was not recognized by windows. hence never get the two units up via the hub (device descriptor fails)

Weird thing with nr 3 is that i then might get the one nearly working unit up and running when windows disables the other usb connection, and i then get a higher average than 1), more like above 60.

So thanks for the suggestions Dogie, didnt solve all my issues however. I like everything else with this unit, so please just make a version that actually works well too Wink

That's a USB 3.0 hub, are you plugging it into a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on your computer?

Unfortunately there isn't a science to getting these to work, so if its not working without a powered hub, its time to try a powered hub and vice versa.

Tried both 2 and 3.

Antminer U3 Batch 2 & Batch 3 has opened sale Smiley

For Batch 2, $38 per unit excluding shipping cost and MOQ is 20 units.
For Batch 3, $39 per unit excluding shipping cost and MOQ is 5 units.
Shipping out within one week after full payment.

Interesting there have been no comments on the path of aesthetics bitmain have taken of late. Why on earth would you go with a wire cage over the decently styled version 1? If heat was an issue, turn it down. A wire cage ... pfft.

Was hoping more that they would focus on quality myself though;) any changes on parts in the new batches that could have positive impact on stability?

no psu
just pcie connector
