Thinking of two S5, outside of footprint, is there a real compatibility advantage to buying one EVGA Supernova 1300 Gold Vs two Corsair CX750M Bronze?  I understand the CX750M measures as an 825W supply (per Dogie), so it seems to me the reason to choose the 1300 is less space and fewer power cords.  Right or wrong?

Overall you'll have less loss using a single, larger PSU versus two individual ones.  Granted, its not much loss, but hey, electricity is electricity.

Anyone who rents with westhash, have you seen this before:

edit: NM, it cleared up after 15 minutes or so.

Is it still stable?

Westhash and Nicehash orders keep getting canceled after a half hour or so when I point them at Slush's pool.  I've been forced to only use CKPool for my rentals :-(

I had the pool "verificator" tell me the diff was too low.  After several tests it may say it is ok, but usually it reports that slush's pool is "incompatible" and occasionally that it is having connection problems.

If anyone wants to investigate, this Pool verificator can be found on the new order page only, an is only available to logged in users, but registration is free and you dont need to fund the account to get to the that page.

I'd love to know why Westhash + Nicehash can't mine at Slush's pool for me!

Because they know slush's pool is bad to mine on :p

No, in all seriousness its been fine.  I changed my order a bit, but in two and a half days its been solid.

184  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: March 29, 2015, 05:13:14 PM
Is it possible to clock Loop 3 lower than 0-2 ? Loop 3 always runs hotter and I'd like to run it a bit lower as the fan Auto setting adjusts itself based on how hot or cold Loop 3 is running. Would like to try to get the fans running quieter without it varying its speed as much as it is now (ranges from 6-39 depending)

Is it possible to set a Voltage Limit per loop instead of having be applied globally ?

Could that be done by limiting the Max PSU Power on Unit 4, it's safe, and the SP20 will try to run as fast as it can with what power is available to that loop ?

Eg: Have Max Power for each unit set to 200,200,200,100 and that's perfectly acceptable ?

That works fine.  I clock the rear loops on all my SP20s about 20% less than the front loops to balance out temps.

Aww yeah, that 20% block.

I own a metal fab shop, would anyone be interested in either galvanized, aluminum or stainless covers for their S5s? Cardboard is a really bad idea.

I'd be interested, what kind of price do you think ballpark?
187  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: March 28, 2015, 01:30:40 AM
ThunderMine, Yep, this is obvious if you not first time buyer, this is from their cloud, i'm glad if i receive miner in working condition  Grin

Did I miss something on their website for the product?  It references a "final production run", not used cast offs from their own mining farm.  One unit I received looks pretty good overall, the other looks like it's been running somewhere sitting on a dirt floor for several months.  Neither appear to achieve a stable hash rate near the claimed spec.  I'm lucky to get over 1TH out of either one although the GUI claims all the chips are fine.

Only running around 48 C on temps (seen 51 a few times briefly) in an ambient temperature of around 72 degrees F (that's fairly normal room temp for the metric minded), but with the suboptimal output, not surprising I guess.  Fans at 3360 RPM at 48C on the dirty one.  Seems like the fans could back down a bit.  Other is slightly less and runs slightly hotter.

I got the impression from the reviews that they built a pretty good miner, but I'm getting a little different impression first hand with these two.  I'd be willing to bet the fan on the dirty one fails pretty soon.  The dirty fan is definitely louder than the other.  I can hear it over my ASICMiner Prisma even, and that thing is loud.  At least it achieves (exceeds most the time) its claimed spec for the noise it makes though.  I'm way outside the -5% on both these units.  Average hash after an hour, 998.88GH/s on the dirty one which seems to run slightly better than the other speed wise.  I've tried different pools including AntPool with the same results.  Has 1947 HW errors in an hour too.

How do I tell whether I have the latest firmware?

definitely something weird going on..
my was new, shiny, and unused.. unless they did a really good job of cleaning mine.

I went back and looked all all 4 of my new ones really closely, the ONLY wear and tear I could see is possibly during the QA burn in period, there's very light dust on the edge of the fan, like you'd expect after being run for a day or two at most.

The PCBs are all 100% clean, no hidden dust in any of the nooks and crannies, no dust inside any of the heatsinks.

I don't believe any of my 4 were used.  I have two more arriving monday, I'll check them closely as well.

After getting my first Antminers up and running over the last few days, I can't say how much I miss SP20s being available.  Sad

question about these, i dont like how the top is all open, they will get very dusty after awhile.

if i cut some cardboard to fit the opening and tape it down.. making holes in it where the plugs go.. would that void the warranty at all?
would it cause any effects? the fan seems to blow enough air, so i dont think that will make them get hot?

it might even quiet it down some..

I doubt it will have any appreciable impact on the heat of the box.

Asked this earlier but didn't see an answer;

Is there a way to change the mining speed/overclocking/fan speed via a cronjob like I do with my SP20 boxes?
Short answer - no.

Is there a long answer? :p

Digitalmocking, Just load it via web interface. Like regular bitmain update. Do not modify tar.gz archive.

Thanks Smit!

Hi,

If anyone is interested, here is updated firmware for AntMiner S5 with extranonce.subscribe support and fresh cgminer version:

AntMiner S5:
https://www.nicehash.com/download/AntMiner-S5-SD-firmware_cgminer_4.9.0_nicehash_and_performance_graph.tar.gz
(There is some additional features in S5 firmware, performance graphs like on sp20e, they can be accesed by pointing browser to http://miner_ip/cgi-bin/graph.rrd)

Example of s5 performance graph:
http://smit1237.asuscomm.com:8080/img/graph.png

Details explained here: https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=software#asic, firmware was prepared by smit1237 (thanks!).

Kind regards,
NiceHash.com

There's no readme file in the S5 package, this is my first S5 so I don't want to damage it, do you have a link to the upgrade documentation?

My new S5s got caught up in customs so I rented 10TH to point at the pool for the next 10 days or so.

Take THAT customs.

These are my first bitmain boxes, I've used SP-Tech previously.

I'm pretty impressed so far, turned it on and it was hashing away 2 minutes later, doing 1.18gh/sec out of the box on decent temps.

Is there a way to change their frequency via a cron job like I can do with my sp20s?

Is this a new record for the pool in terms of time?

time maybe, but not percentage, we had a 500%+ block once I believe.

Well it isn't much, but my 6 new S5s will be coming online in the next couple of days.

j4bberwock, do you have any more of these boards in stock?  HolyBitcoin doesn't have them listed as an available product.

All these new S5 batch are getting powered up and difficulty is going to high new highs. Sucks for anyone who bought new hardware this month

Not too worried about it, my overall hash rate is outgrowing global hash rate by reinvesting in miners.

Not to mention btc dropping below 250 again may impact hashrate
200  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [PPS 2% fee] NiceHash.com pool - higher profits than direct mining BTC! on: March 23, 2015, 03:58:13 PM
Then why did he not simply say that instead of spouting a bunch of easily proven false non-sense and attacking me personally? I offered help to a fellow miner and was attacked by Kano for doing so. If that is what you call being a jerk you and I are not using the same dictionary.

P.S: I will let you know when I start valuing the opinion of someone who is farming an account so that it can be sold and used to shill the next new shitcoin scam, uhmkay?

edit: you aren't worth it.
