41  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How do small Farms of antminer s5's control all of them? on: June 17, 2015, 06:40:59 AM
Hey ! I'm fairly new to bitcoin mining, but Im trying 2 softwares right now.

1- Multiminer: The interface is discreet and precise + mobile miner app has the option of reviewing remotely miner info (temp, hashrate) and the best is the option of rebooting remotely through the app.
2- Cryptoglance: The interface is awfully designed with bright colors and awful interface, but it's the only one i've found it displays wallets info right on the main dashboard. No mobile app for this one. Bummer!!!

Hope this helps.

Crypto glance has an app for android at least.  Dunno about iOS

I'd recommend kano.is if you're looking for a good pool run by an outstanding member of the community.

low fees and the guy really busts his ass.

What's going on?Huh? Bitmain raised prices on the S5 to $360+shipping?HuhHuhHuh

you noticed they never lower it when bitcoin drops!

Bitmain is sucking every bitcoin they can get because they are going broke !

Its like milking the cow for its last bit of milk Because you know the cow is going to die any day now. way to go That's pure greed if you ask me. but then again that's business.

Don't lower the price just keep raising it that's real cheesy bitmain !

what are your thoughts foolish or otherwise ?

What are you, 12?

If you don't like it, buy from someone else.

Oh, wait.

I take half of the BTC I make mining and put it in a cold wallet.  My plan is to leave that alone for a looong time.
45  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] NiceHash.com - sell & buy hash rate cloud mining service / multipool on: June 15, 2015, 09:34:27 PM
I've had to move my S5s and S4+ boxes back off of nicehash to antpool.

They (antminers) slowly lose hash rate after the first 6 hours or so of mining until they're regularly hashing between 750 and 850gh/sec for the S5s and 2100-2200gh/sec for the s4+ boxes.  Rebooting the miner fixes the issue for 6 - 12 hours, then the decay starts.  I left 20gh/sec of hashing alone for 3 days and by the end I was seeing under 17th/sec on average for the last 12 hours I mined.  Losing 15-20% of my hashing power along with the fees you charge me just to sell my hash to you makes it not worthwhile for the antminer gear.

My Spondoolies gear never showed this particular slowdown.

you may want to hurry up...  Grin KNC is hammering the blockchain with their 16nm solar chips.

Bitcoin Difficulty:   49,692,386,355
Estimated Next Difficulty:   52,500,855,088 (+5.65%)
 Shocked

Next difficulty retarget occurs at block 360863.0 (eta 2.8 days): 46504486469.3 / -2.3% [est.]

wat?

KNC is full of shit like they always have been.  Scam artists.
47  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [PPS multipool] NiceHash.com pool - higher profits than direct mining BTC! on: June 12, 2015, 01:32:10 PM
I have tried so many times to put my miners nicehash, but after a couple of hours the miners fall, I tried with the pach of smith, xnonce and the problem persists, every day the prizes are always less than other pools. Now this weekend I try again, I target my 4x antS5 on nicehash, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and see how it behaves, if you lose power this pool of new abandonment.

Since the changes they put in about a week ago, none of my antminers have failed.

Make sure you're using smits 4.9.0 cgminer firmware.

Assuming you're in the US, use this as your pool URL: stratum+tcp://sha256.usa.nicehash.com:3334#xnsub

looks like a lot of network hash is coming online.. seems difficulty is about to go to the moon Sad

going down I did read the blog about KNC and there 16 mm chip it's not suppose to increase hash, if I read it right but save more on Power then anything and be one of the most efficient farms around.

That and the fact that KNC are a bunch of huge liars...
49  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years? on: June 12, 2015, 04:36:28 AM
the problem with whales jumping in theory is that it doesn't work.

Let's say bill gates really believes in bitcoin, and he wants to make more money. So he buys out 1 billion dollars worth of bitcoin. Sounds nice, but he won't do that.

There are a lot of problems with owning such a large proportion of a cryptocurrency. So if they wanted, they'd buy maybe 100k or 200k coins and that's about it.

You'd need either quite a few rich people joining in, or mass adoption, IMO.

What we need is a small struggling country suffering with hyperinflation of their current currency to adopt BTC as their currency :p

I can't speak for anyone else, but my dashboard doesn't show any data from the down time, but the payout once the graphing resumed is exactly where it should have been.

Mine wasn't even half of what it was at that time the last full day of hashing, I should say. Lucky you tho.

Post proof.  I think you're a completely full of shit troll.

Mine were exactly where they'd be expected, especially with about 40 minutes of failover to the backup pool.

Oh, Nicehash, whatever you guys changed recently took care of the stability issues with the S5 and S4+ systems.

Website is down but stratum servers are still running?

They had a maintenance notice up a few hours ago, but its just been down for a bit.

The obscene pricing people are trying to get for soon to be completely outclassed mining gear boggles my mind.

8 BTC for a used miner that's out of warranty and has poor power/gh ratio.

Good luck finding a sucker to buy a 4th/sec miner that uses 3kw.

I've got an S4+, I've seen a few weird behaviors on it, what does this fix?

You're in Portland OR right sidehack?

I'm local to the area and would be willing to help, I'm in a weird position to have a lot of free time for the next few months.

57  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1800 TH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: June 11, 2015, 02:18:43 AM
I see, so my miner was connected when the blocks were found, but just not when they matured? That makes sense, thanks for the explanation!  Smiley

No, even if you're not connected to the pool any longer, your shares have to age out.

So lets say I connect with 10TH and the speed is around what it is, it will take me 11 days before I'm paid for my full 10TH for any blocks found during that time frame as my shares are ramping up to full.  Once I disconnect, it takes 11 days for my shares to ramp back down.

So in the above example if we find a block on day 2, I'll get paid like I was actually mining at around 1.8TH/sec, day 4, 3.6TH/sec and so on until day 11 when I'm paid at 10TH/sec.  If I stop after I'm at fulls shares, they ramp down at the same speed.

This is all based on the current pool speed and expected time to find a block etc.

edit: after looking at it, expected time to find a block is about 66 hours at 900th/sec for the block, so 330 hours for the full 500% share.  It takes just under 14 days to reach full shares.
58  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience BM1384 Project Development Discussion on: June 11, 2015, 02:13:33 AM
This is pretty interesting stuff, I too would love to get in on this.
59  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1800 TH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: June 11, 2015, 01:12:55 AM
Hmm, I had my Blockchain wallet open and I heard 3 tx beeps in a row.... I got 3 payments from those lucky blocks, yet I unplugged my miner a few days ago... mind you I only had about 45 GH/s on the pool, but still... Is my unplugged miner ghost mining? Cheesy

Its how the payouts work, it takes 500% of average expected block time to reach full mining and about the same for all your shares to expire.  Right now that's about 11 days or something via napkin math.
60  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: June 10, 2015, 07:09:09 PM
@bitmain why did you enclose the S3 with a case and 2 fans and leave the S5 wide open with only one LOUD fan? this is terrible for airflow.....you could probably have used a less noisy fan if u enclosed it with a case like the S3.

You can make (or order) the case by yourself. Without it S5 became lighter, so the shipping is cheaper.

Heat dissipation is developed not so good in case of S5, so it needs a powerful (it inevitable means LOUD) fan. Sure they could sell S5 equiped with two less noisy fans (most of us make such mod), or they could sell S5 without fan at all. But we got what we got.

Recently I placed all S5 to the basement, so I installed a Gembird DC120SF-12AS3 120x120x38 fan as a push fan, and stock fan as a pull (on my new 2 S5s since stock fans on them are appearantly much quieter than it was before, on earlier S5s). It works OK now.  Smiley
where can i order a case?

There has been some impressive 3d printing of parts some of which enclose the center of the miner - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1072176.0

It's fairly recent and Bitmain even supported it by sending it's OP a little coin.  I would check it out if your thinking about enclosing the S5.

i think 3d printing stuff might be overkill. i put a 1/16 inch piece of acrylic on the bottom (because i havea wire shelf) and cut a piece of card board for the top (for testing purposes) and now my blades are the same temp. before they were 4-5c apart and one would always be hotter. now they are the exact same temp most of the time. ant this is just with some crappy cardboard cut out. imagine if i had a fully enclosed aluminum case. I dont have the tools to make a metal case or a plastic one for the matter. maybe really glossy poster board will work since it has a more smooth surface. which might be better for airflow.

Considering the heat generated, paper is a bad idea.
