why exactly? CF has a proven track record

i would rather have them protect their sources to the fullest, also its not information that would make a difference

Listening to mike on this podcast and I actually take that back. He does a good job explaining why they do things the way they do.

What podcast? I did not see a link.

Following a Delay in Withdrawals on PayBase Enhanced Security Measures Account for All Funds
Bloomfield, CT – After limited access during the course of the past nine plus days, users of PayBase and ZenCloud have resumed in the ability to withdraw funds from their online wallet accounts. The delay happened as a result of enhanced security measures employed by GAW Miners, the company that owns the PayCoin wallet services. The security measures taken are a part of an enhanced practice that has ensured the security of customer funds to the extent that no funds have ever been compromised. While the delay in withdrawals certainly caused some anxiety among PayBase customers, the delay versus a loss of funds was greatly appreciated.

Heightened security was implemented as a result of many of GAW Miners’ Hashstakers expiring, leading to a release of thousands of PayCoins and an overwhelming amount of activity. The enhanced level of security ensured proper funds were being directed to the rightful PayCoin owners’ ZenCloud account and the accounting of all funds.

“It’s no secret we’ve been hacked from outside sources, but these nefarious efforts have never resulted in customer funds being compromised, ever,” said H. Josh Garza, CEO of GAW Miners, the company that operates PayBase and ZenCloud. “Because of the ongoing attempts to undermine our systems, we’ve employed very rigorous levels of security that some just don’t like, but in the end are appreciated as we’ve never lost customers’ funds. However, we’ve learned that there will always be critics.”

The theft of cryptocurrencies has been pervasive in a category that can best be likened to the wild west of the financial sector, where integrity and honor are seemingly at a loss. The much-publicized Bitcoin theft in February 2014 is a case in point as cryptocurrencies, as secure as they may be are for all intents and purposes, a bearer instruments.

“Just recieved my missing bitcoin Deposit, thanks Paybase team, just please next time be quicker ☺ ) but still KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.” Said Archibullo, a blogger on the Hashtalk blogsite in response to the company’s effort.

A new comment on GAW from badbitcoin:
http://www.badbitcoin.org/gaw.htm
Quote
Our position regarding GAW and Paycoin. These unsupported "indisputable facts" versus the reality.

There has been a very vocal campaign against the previously highly regarded supplier, GAW Miners, and going even further targeting their CEO Josh Garza, and has also questioned our position on these matters. In response to this, I am issuing the following unambiguous statement.

We do not share the opinion that this operation,or Mr Garza are intending to defraud, or have defrauded any investor in Hashlets, Hashstakers, Paycoin XPY, or any other product or service supplied by GAW or it's companies. We are not associated with these companies beyond personal & private holdings of Hashstakers, Zen Hashlets and XPY Paycoin, and are not paid by these companies.
They are accused of reneging on contracts, there is no evidence of this. Reneging on promises. There were never price promises, beyond individual expectation of market value, and the anticipated $20 floor, a concept since reformed into the honours program, which whilst indefinitely delayed, pending the resolving of legal issues, is still very much active. Some proposed features have been shelved, delayed, or abandoned due to direct effects of the current hate campaign, and other features have since been proposed, some are better.
Leaked emails, widely circulated, have been obtained illegally and are legally confidential. They must be disregarded due to their origin being from a hacked external, and uncredited anonymous source. The hacking of privileged company resources also indicates that the hacker may easily have fabricated these emails using hijacked services, or had physical access to those resources.

Neither GAW, Zencloud or any other GAW operation, has at this time, directly or indirectly defrauded anybody regarding the conversion to hashstakers and XPY. This was always a choice, freely chosen by the individual.
The campaign against GAW is a phenomenon that is unprecedented, and has become almost a cult. The vehemence of these detractors - the majority of whom are non investors - has had a visible effect on trust and wider adoption of this XPY. This campaign was fuelled by a core few individuals, would be members of a kind of informal 'old guard' of Crypto. It is an indefensible action.
We cannot accept any of these third party, sometimes absurd allegations as hard evidence, neither can anybody else who does not have unrestricted access to confidential original company accounts, minutes of meetings and internal and external correspondence. Therefore, were we to conclude that there was a scam going on, it would be pure conjecture, and that is morally and professionally irresponsible, and would leave us fairly justly liable, to prosecution for libellous actions. The majority of the supposed evidence so far,  has no covenance and in some cases is even unknown of by the correspondents. Being unverifiable non original data, it is simply not worthy of consideration for any practical purpose.
GAW are also a registered company, with a strong track record. We have no desire to participate in any clearly orchestrated campaign against a hard working company.

Where we list other registered companies, it is always after confirming beyond doubt, that the company is using faked covenance, or is non-existent. We aren't here to investigate legal entities, already subject to outside audit.

I will finish by saying that personally, I am pretty adept at spotting a fraud. I do not believe that any deliberate attempt is being made to defraud anybody by Josh Garza. I do believe that the real damage being done to investors is due to this core group of 'haters' who resent this innovation and this rightly perceived threat to their own interests, and as such are prepared to originate and fuel this disinformation, not excluding illegally obtaining discreditable and confidential correspondence.

This is not intended as investment advice.

Ultimately, there will be a definitive outcome to this ongoing debacle. We'd like to come out of it with our integrity intact as well.

Attached is a word document containing an initial draft of the creative brief for CoinStand. What is there is not even proofed. It's a brain dump. There are holes that need filling such as copy points, mandatories and the personality of the brand...a la "tone."

Please complete these and send back for my review. When we feel good about it, we'll send to Josh for his feedback.

Thanks, John

Thanks for taking a stab at this however it's not what was needed. The objective, strategy and com strategy are ok as they are. what you added to Strategy was not a part of a strategy; it's an byproduct of what we're attempting to do.

Yes, objectively we are trying to create great value for paycoin which has been incorporated.

What was needed where nuts and bolts in how this was to be accomplished, the areas where I outlined needed to be done. Specifically, the communications points. What are the things that will distinguish CoinStand...the things we'll discuss in copy...

For example...
millions of items
Security due to blockchain
single source
etc.

What is the tone / Personality
timetable?

I believe this is what I asked you to do.

Please take another look at this...

Thanks, John

If you haven't already, please review the Conroy and co creative Brief as a guideline for what I commented about earlier; project wise, it is the same as what we are doing with coinstand. I may have time this afternoon to work on this if you're having a hard time. Also, what Josh provided to you and me may be helpful as well for content. Hope that makes sense. Effectively, the comm points  are a laundry list of what we want to communicate, the support points to our strategy that helps us fulfill our objective while informing the reader.

Hope that helps.

John

I know MrCoins is actually a very nice person, who is very devoted.

I would love to know what information that comment is based on.

Also this question has been asked a few times but I can't find the answer.  If those emails last night were released by a hacker, why were the google archives blocked so quickly?   Wouldn't the hacker want to keep them up for maximum damage?   Or did GAW complain directly to google to have them shut down?

Ideas in no particular order
- hacker/disgruntled GAW insider got cold feet after seeing the instantaneous shitshow this caused
- these groups were set up by GAW to facilitate the SEC response and they are so dumb they didn't realize everything was public
- deliberate leak by Josh because somewhere in his addled brain this will get him out of the SEC investigation/other criminal charges because he can say he got "hacked, LOL sorry kthxbi!"

DMCA takedown notice is also a possibility, although I'm not sure if it would work that quickly.

Regardless, enough juicy bits have been archived, I wish I had more time to read all this. It looks like for the last couple of months at least GAW has been operating from dump to dump, i.e. an invoice comes in, it's ignored until it's followed by legal threats, then miraculously it gets paid if it's deemed important, otherwise continues to be ignored. Like the BTC.com installment ($1 million purchase LOL), that one was important apparently. But the electric bill wasn't, let's just shut the hashlets down, who cares.

Was that email about the power bill archived?

https://hashtalk.org/topic/32776/paybase-service-update-2-27-2015-update

Update (3/1/15)

We want to apologize in not providing more information sooner...but we know you'll understand why. We believe it was in the best interest of our community and know that you will share in that sentiment.

On Friday, February 27, we learned about a coordinated and very sophisticated effort to exploit the databases for PayBase and ZenCloud. As soon as we discovered this, we felt it imperative to shut down the wallet withdrawal service, in the best interest of our customers and community. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

We felt it was important to provide general, non-specific communications as to the identity of the hackers / violators our networks, since they did not know we had discovered what they were doing. This, we felt, was precautionary and again, in your best interest.

While this was happening, we had all hands on deck verifying every database and ensuring there were no other holes or doors they could use. Verification of all databases is in the final stages and we expect to be online later this week, if not sooner.

We also wanted to point out that our existing precautionary measures such as "Pending Withdrawal" function worked as it should, giving us the ability to verify withdrawal transactions. This layer of security made it possible to protect all property, funds and PayCoins.

So one of the benefits (from Josh's point of view) of blocking the paycoin pages on HT if you aren't logged in is that archive.today no longer works. Apologies if this was covered here already but it's truly Josh at peak megalomaniacal pumping strength.

Muuuhhhh

"It's something that is going to change the industry as a whole."

"We still got another week or two out before the beta launches."

"I have had a separate team working on a secret project for a while."

"Anyhoo, I had it down all out of house, and split it up between teams all over the world, so it will stay secret"

"We gave an exclusive at a media outlet (no it does not have the word coin in it). And, I have already done the interview. So they will be launching it. But, it will be exciting"

Does anyone other than Vlad believe that gawceo had an idea that will revolutionize the industry, that he managed a multi-national team of software developers to make it a reality, and that a beta is going to launch in another week or two?

Wouldn't be surprised if he's roped TechCrunch into this.
