Any day now... will pop... look for 190.

I think the price will drop down to 190 in a couple of days.

Are we ignoring the point that government controls utilities, utilities control power, power controls internet, and internet controls bitcoin?

K, thanks, I looked in account history, and today it updated to say confirmed withdraw to my bank. No money arrived in my bank, but at least it confirmed the withdrawal. Will wait a few weeks before I actually contact Mt.Gox if it hasn't actually deposited by then. If I get a successful transaction I'll be sure to shout it to the world.

I put in a withdrawal request to my U.S. located bank account on 10/22 and only after the fact, noticed the Mt.Gox message indicating that withdrawals could take two or more weeks. Having seen no posts anywhere on this forum from anyone yet stating that they've been able to successfully have USD transferred from Mt.Gox to their bank accounts since as far back as April, I am a bit concerned. I initiated this withdrawal of $700 USD (less than the $1,000 limit) and my USD balance magically reduced by that amount. Yet no arrival in bank account. There is no "history" to see that the $700 is in "processing limbo" at the very least. Rather, it's as if the money were never there... a bit disconcerting actually.

It seems that bitcoin will prosper so long as it is used. The issue I see is the collapse of the dollar. If the internet survives such a potential collapse, then of course bitcoin would be royalty if not king (as it requires a functioning internet).
If the internet does not survive, bitcoin ceases to function, no? In such a case, silver and gold are still relevant.

You sound like the guys we eavesdrop on in Afghanistan. "Don't worry brother, this phone is safe." Then comse the hellfire missile. That's right, you get right in there and hellfire missile those hacker kids, Hoorah!

Let 4th dimension entities deal with 4th dimension issues and leave my 3rd dimension untroubled.

Well, Herr Garrison, It represents an exercise in liberty. Some people guard their privacy more highly than others, whilst others are drawn to the bohemian nature of the SR. Given the Internet is not owned by any state, it is not for any of us to restrict access to such communications, unless it can be shown beyond reasonable doubt that such activity is detrimental to that state. Far better that ten guilty men go free than a single innocent man is convicted.
"Herr" ...quite the stinging address that. TY, this was a bit better for an explanation. Now, FWIW Bricks, I agree with you on all points concerned. I would not for a second ask any government to restrict this. The only thing I would question is the usefulness of this particular venue for myself and others with any shred of moral integrity if it provides only access to those goods and services it is allegedly notorious for. Now if it were the central hub for trading of rare TY Beanie Baby collectibles and My Little Ponies, then you would definitely have my attention. I will not let any sovereign power restrict my access to collectible plushie toys!

Good question Bricks, what IS the big deal with the Silk Road? You apparently seem to know the answer by the manner in which you phrase your question. For the benefit of all, why don't you explain why I or anyone here ever want to download this and use it?

I'm a Jr. Member now, without even having requested whitelist. That worked out pretty well. So, the restrictive newbie phase isn't that big of a deal really.

They`r always in opposition. Specialy to opposition. Event when it means being not in opposition, they are in opposition. They are just / ;P
I'm pretty sure 4chan is in opposition only to opposable thumbs.

If this thread is still going I would love some bitcoins to see what i can do with this bitcoin currency :0
So far as I know, the bitcoin faucet still works for a free .005 BTC.

I am a relative newbie with Bitcoin (less than 2 months), but I pretty much split my eggs between Mt Gox wallet and Personal home computer wallet at the moment.

The only coinage such creatures deal in is the HERP DERP.

I wonder if there is a way to pay VAT and sales tax by bitcoin. That would help to avoid government antagonism.
This to me would seem an impossibility (and thankfully so). Incidentally, the IRS in my opinion IS goverment antagonism.

Hi Jeff. I just looked up Dwolla after reading your post. I'll check it out. I had never heard of it before.
Do you but and sell things/services with Bitcoins?
Hi lifeseed, thanks for your reply. Dwolla is just a way to transfer money (similar to PayPal) but which is also accepted by Mt.Gox (last I checked a while ago Mt.Gox did not accept transfers from PayPal). So Dwolla then, was just a vehicle for me to get my US dollars into my Mt Gox account so I could start purchasing bitcoins. I don't yet offer any products or services, though I have hopes that I might be able to at some point.

I like the requirements for getting past newbie restrictions. It makes it feel as though the ability to have full access will be something of a reward after having worked through the trial.
