Would make sense. Announcements could also be pinned.
To be honest, each major exchange\service should have their own subforum under service discussion.

What is Bankruptcy Protection?
"Bankruptcy protection" is the process by which a debtor is "protected" by a court while they reorganize their finances.
Protected from what? Protected from excessively hasty or harassing creditor actions, such as foreclosures, repossessions, law suits, harassing telephone calls, and the like. A more accurate lay-terminology for filing for "bankruptcy protection" would be filing for "financial reorganization" or "financial restructuring" under Chapter 7 or Chapter 13.

Site gets put back online next week with a rebrand (just a new logo).
btc withdrawals limited to 5btc per day\week purely to stop everyone running with coins and keep the business viable.
Mark announces step-down and takeover from a 3rd party. new CEO publishes a statement listing features\optimizations to the trading engine, altcoin implementations etc to help evolve the business and distance itself from the 'old' mtgox. financial reports published each quarter (similar to bitstamps last announcement).
in a few months, or whenever deposits seem to have built back up and confidence restored, withdrawal limit removed and trading fees reduced as a good will gesture for a set period to entice customers back that fled on the re-opening.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Mt. Gox has been subpoenaed by the US Attorney’s office in New York. Additionally, a few thousand miles west, Japanese officials have confirmed that local authorities are looking into the matter, too.
If true, it'll be be interesting to see which came first: the shutdown or the subpoena? Or both at the same time...

Economy / Speculation / Re: Why didn't MtGox halt trading like they've done in the past?

There's a million and one conspiracy theories on this forum. How about this one...
1. Gox really did have a bug in their bitcoin software. 2. They need to fix it like they said they do - and need to stop withdrawals to fix it. 3. 99% of bitcoin investors are either paranoid freaks or paranoid fat cats and so they all freaked and decided to sell loads of their coins - because they all read way too much into the hype and hysteria. 4. The price on Gox therefore tanked. 5. They will fix the bug and go right back to where they were before this happened.
Hmmm... almost tooooo simple?
So there ARE people on here who have the same train of thought as me! to coin a phrase, "A watched pot never boils". In this case though, its damn hard not to stare, and I have to admit, the price drop is slightly stomach churning In a couple weeks time, hopefully, all of this will be fixed and the only thing in tatters will be gox's reputation and not users $ or BTC.
