hello community,

newbi questions regarding mining:

(running: Windows 10, Intel core i5-4460s @ 2.90GHz, 8 GB ram)

1. got cpuminer-multi-rel1.1
2. changed config:
{
   "_comment1" : "Any long-format command line argument ",
   "_comment2" : "may be used in this JSON configuration file",

   "api-bind" : "127.0.0.1:22447",

   "url" : "127.0.0.1:22440",
   "user" : "UserIsSameAsEspersConfig",
   "pass" : "PassIsSameAsEspersConfig",

   "algo" : "quark",
   "threads" : 0,
   "cpu-priority" : 0,
   "cpu-affinity" : -1,

   "benchmark" : false,
   "debug" : false,
   "protocol": false,
   "quiet" : false
}
3.cpuminer-multi-rel1.1 runs without errors and shows something like:
quark block 178668, diff 91.06
CPU #3: 95.81 kH/s
CPU #2: 93.75 kH/s
CPU #0: 91.83 kH/s
CPU #1: 91.87 kH/s

Q1: is cpuminer-multi-rel1.1 really mining or just running without errors? I got zero blocks running it all night.
Q2: is kH/s in miner the same as kHash/s in Espers Wallet?
Q3: i get like 45 kHash/s in Wallet. Does cpuminer-multi-rel1.1 mine ~8x as fast? am i understanding this correctly?
Q4: Do you mine with the Espers Wallet at the same time as running the miner? Or does that produce conflicts, with the result that neither are mining?

any help would be appreciated

greetz

Hi. First off the algo is based on quark but its hmq1725. So replace quark with hmq1725 in lowercase.
And to solo mine its getting harder because of difficulty rising.
Maybe you should enable debug as a test drive to see if everything is running ok.
I was running it from a batch file. This is the command line i used cpuminer-amd -a hmq1725 -o 127.0.0.1:22440 -u username -p password -D
You can't use both miners. Wallet + miner. Only use cpuminer-multi-rel1.1 since its faster.
Good luck

@eye-drop (or anyone else that can/wants to help Smiley )

first, thx for taking the time to help
i replaced quark with hmq1725: and nothing, cpuminer-multi-rel1.1 doesn't even start

greetz

You need a miner with hmq1725 support, cpuminer-multi doesn't have it yet..

Ther are two miners to my knowledge. Suprnova created cpuminer-hmq1725, windows binaries
available here:

https://www.suprnova.cc/downloads/cpuminer-hmq1725.zip

Then there's cpuminer-opt, which runs on Linux or a Linux VM and is 57% faster than cpuminer-hmq1725,
link in my sig.

Hi all,

I just need an help to understand this error during compiling.

I'm trying to compile the ocminer following this instructions on a Raspberry PI 2 :

sudo apt-get update -y
sudo apt-get -y install git automake gcc g++ libcurl4-openssl-dev libssl-dev make

git clone https://github.com/ocminer/cpuminer-hmq1725
cd cpuminer-hmq1725/
./autogen.sh
./configure --with-crypto --with-curl
make

After the make command, it starts to compile but gives me some error (italian language):

gcc -std=gnu99 -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I.  -fno-strict-aliasing -I./compat/jansson -I.  -Wno-pointer-sign -Wno-pointer-to-int-cast   -g -O2  -Iyes/include -Iyes/include -MT algo/cpuminer-cryptonight.o -MD -MP -MF algo/.deps/cpuminer-cryptonight.Tpo -c -o algo/cpuminer-cryptonight.o `test -f 'algo/cryptonight.c' || echo './'`algo/cryptonight.c
algo/cryptonight.c:84:17: error: static declaration of ‘mul128’ follows non-static declaration

make[1]: uscita dalla directory "/root/cpuminer-hmq1725"

Someone of you could give me some suggestion?
Thank you in advance
ZioTantra

I'm not familiar with the ocminer version but this looks like a coding error.

If you're comfortable ediiting the source code you could try editting algo/cryptonight.c line 84 and remove the word static.

If that doesn't work there may be multiple definitions and it gets too complicated for non-coders.

Edit: just noticed you are using an RPI. That i sprobably your problem. No one would bother builduing a CPU
miner for an RPI, it's not worth it.
2303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ħ [HODL] 0.5% Interest Paid Every Day On Regular Balances on: May 21, 2016, 05:04:40 PM
Is there any more exchanges or sites where we can vote in Hodl?

Thinking on making a faucet or a dice site using Hodl as a coin. Maybe, we'll see how it goes.

we should stop wasting our time on shitcoin exchange and just trade in on the current exchange . It better to have 10 btc volume on 1 exchange then have 1 btc spread across 10 shitcoin exchange.

once we have daily volume then Bittrex then Poloinex may add us .

It not worth these exchange time of power to add Hodl atm as there no volume.

we should be aiming for higher end exchange. Bittrex and poloinex are the only exchange we should be aiming for.

Trade volume is artificially low due to the large amount, 65%, of locked up coins. This won't likely change until some
of the large TDs start maturing and interest rates are lower. Rating hodl simply on volume does not give a clear
picture of its viability.

I agree that more small exchanges aren't helpful unless they give access to an attractive fiat currency not provided
by existing exchanges.

Poloniex would be nice, I already have an account.

is OhGodAGirl wolf's girlfriend or at least she cna be.. since he refer to "her" i must assume she is a legit girl, also by the look of the defense he is taking on her she may be that thing really

besides this no-sense is that miner for sale? just curious about the price

Aye, it is. We've decided on a price.

If you're interested, shoot me a PM.

Also, nah, not his girlfriend - but I'll let folks infer what they want.

something smells really bad here people...

look very closly at those pics from wolf and from OhGodAGirl

looks like they both from the same machine... running root@freya:~

now that is odd... here are the links

I'm done with this shit - have one of my well-known signature posts:

Now, is that real enough for you?

and now they are asking for money

so sorry i pissed in your cherrioes sooner then you imagined
but goes to show  honesty
deal with it

You've made unfounded claims based on a couple of posts in BCT, you shit on a respected developer

Real scam-busters do a lot of research behind the scenes and present their findings in a coherent manner.
They don't go around drawing radically opposite conclusions from the same info as everyone else, or do
it with offensive and insulting language.

EDit: I'm not the thread starter so it's not my responsibility but this guy should be reported to the mods.
He's gone from simply offensive to blatently sexist.

./cpuminer -q -a hmq1725 -o stratum+tcp://esp.suprnova.cc:3453 -u user.1 -p 1                      (that is gpu port for suprnova since i read that it was better to use with this miner)

The CPU port at suprnova is set at a very low difficulty so when you first connect you might see a bunch of rejects
and the diff adjusting. After about half a minute it settles down and mines ok. Just want to warn people
in case they think there is a problem with the miner. I haven't had that problem with the GPU port which
is why I recommended it.

@monoxide, thanks for pointing that out.
2308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]: cpuminer-opt, New ESPERS support in v3.2.4 on: May 20, 2016, 10:17:31 PM

Thanks for the link. I think I'll include it in the README file, assuming people actually read it.

On github, readme is automatically shown.

You can make a nice looking page like this one -- https://github.com/hmage/cpuminer-opt

If you keep poking me about github I'll have to ask you to help me set it up. I want to wait until
releases slow down because I don't want to deal with learning github while also doing dev on
the miner.

I've already created an account and repository:

https://github.com/JayDDee

Next is to load the source, not sure how to do that.

Guide for faster cpuminer:

This is almost my first time on linux.
I did this in latest Ubuntu in virtual machine Windows 10 Pro and Hyper V.
There might be something that more experienced users notice that are unecessary options, so please advice.
I figured all this out almost by myself, but i gotta thank @cryptocoderz and @amorejaz for getting me started.

Okay, here we go, hold on to your hats and take off your pants:

First go here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1326803.0

Download the file from first post and REMEMBER TO THANK joblo <--- This part is THE most necessary
(you can even chip some btc in the address of his sig)

after downloading go to your Downloads folder and double click cpuminer-opt-3.2.4.tar.gz
then extract and choose a location to extract. (i used the destination it gave me in this guide)

Now open terminal and type:

sudo apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev libncurses5-dev pkg-config libgmp3-dev libssl-dev libboost-all-dev automake yasm

after that part is done type:

cd Downloads
cd cpuminer-opt-3.2.4

./autogen.sh
./configure CFLAGS="-O3 -march=native" --with-crypto --with-curl   (that red text is -O3, not -03, not -zero3)
make

./cpuminer -q -a hmq1725 -o stratum+tcp://esp.suprnova.cc:3453 -u user.1 -p 1

And that's it.

Hope this is helpful and you can always ask if you have questions, but i'm not sure if i can answer, since this really was first time i compiled anything.

My hashrate is around +200kh/s with i7-4790K @ 4.7GHZ vs older miner 130KH/S

Thanks @joblo

Excellent! And you're welcome. Your hashrate increase is in line with my results.
I would like to get some numbers for other CPUs (i5, core2, AMD) if anyone wishes
to post theirs.

If anyone has questions specific to cpuminer-opt feel free to ask in my thread (link in sig).
If you go there now you will see an example of how not to ask for help. Grin

That's impressive, I've been struggling with Windows since I forked. It's the number one FAQ I get.

Thanks Joblo, well it errored out on Line 25 of the cpu-miner.c file (could have butchered the name as I'm no longer staring at the directory), on "error cannot find /openssl/sha.h

The directories look to  be in need of re-organization for windows or I need to reconfigure the build. Either way again I'll give another go at this in a few hours.

Thanks for your interest.

Openssl is a library on Linux but there appears to be a Windows version in
compat/curl-for-windows/openssl/openssl/crypto/sha/sha.h. I don't know if it works but it might be worth a try.
I have no dea how to link Windows code but in many cases precompiled binaries of cpu miners require openssl
(dev package iirc) be installed. I assume they must use dynamic linking.

As little as I know about Windows dev I'll help out as much as I can.

I'm glad I stumbled into this coin, looks like a very interesting community.

Okay this seriously will be the last post for aminute.

CtGiant got past the openssl error i encountered but ran across other issues that he's looking into.

I personally attempted to re structure some directories as the sgminer we built was very similar source wise but apparently different enough that by quick one two antics didn't work work for it.

Will let you know how it all progresses.

Glad you're liking our project and community, you're awelcomed part of it. Hope to continue to see you around.

Don't read this until you've gotten some rest.

The file system is still a mess. It is a mashup of around 10 different miners with artifacts lying all over the place.
My initial goal with the fork was to propagate the avaiable optimizations to as many algos as possible and to
add as many algos as possible. Just get it working and clean up the mess later. I've also restructured the front end
with a "gate" using function pointers to isolate all the algo specific code. I've already cleaned up a lot but it's still
a work in progress.
2316  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: May 20, 2016, 04:26:41 AM
Thanks everyone for the advice on how to get this Nvidia rig to run with ccminer.  Last night I tore the rig all down and started from scratch, replaced a bunch of powered risers with versions that I think are better quality.  I checked the mobo PCI-E slots with a good GPU to validate that the rig boots and works normally in each of the PCIE slots.  Then attempted to plug in each of the GPU's as a single GPU to make sure they booted and worked.  Next I tried to plug in each GPU one at a time adding to the previous one to see if there were any issues.  The rig seems fine until you plug in that last(6th) GPU then it acts strange...

So I decided the only way to figure out if I have a bad GPU in the bunch is to plug in one GPU and launch the miner and let it run overnight if it will stay up and not crash... So I did that last night, connected a single GPU and ran the miner.  No intensity settings are set.  It mined fine, stayed up all night.  So this morning first thing I connected a second GPU and let it run all day with just 2 GPU's.  It ran all day, no issues.  This evening I connected a 3rd GPU and will let it run until the morning.  I will keep adding GPU's until I start to see the "validate on CPU" errors and crashing.

I thought maybe I was having the issue where the number of GPU's isn't supported, but after digging around today that issue appeared to be related to AMD GPU's, and I didn't see anything about Nvidia gpu's having that issue.  But I am starting to wonder what might be going on if I get down to the 6th GPU and the errors return... I don't want to get the cart before the horse here, but it seems kind of strange.

I will have to order some more powered risers.  I used the last of my spares last night replacing ones that I suspected might be an issue.   Hopefully things will stay stable with ccminer.  I am using the affinity 0, cpu priority 0, -C switches to startup the miner, but I left out the intensity and it seems to be working so far.  Any other thoughts or inputs would be great.  Thanks again...

I am sorry to hear that SP_ is talking about retiring.  It must be a great feeling to be ready to retire, but we really do need his talent here... I hope he will reconsider for a little while longer... :-)

Good plan, just make sure you rotate the 6th GPU into a working slot and also try with a working GPU
in the 6th slot but with another slot empty so there are fewer than 6 cards installed. That should isolate
the problem of one of:

- the GPU
- the slot
- the number of GPUs installed

Optimized esper CPU miner released, 56% faster than cpuminer-hmq1725 on
CPUs with AES_NI. See my sig for details.

I recommend using the GPU port at suprnova. The CPU port has a rough start until
the diff settles.
wow 56% faster in mining espers? what would be your average mine now mate if its possible to share and what's your mining rig you got a ggod code over I just don't know or sure if my laptop can handle it.

Thanks. I'll look into it.

Hey monoxide, when you get the new cpu miner working on a Linux VM, kindly let us know how you ran it, and what distro and stuff. I'm inclined to try it out on Debian (Jessie). If I can bump up my 100 khs to 200 khs that would be fun. I bought my home server because the Xeon chip on it had AES support. I think it's a e5640.

We'll give compiling a Windows version a shot for you guys, if it's anything like sgminer it shouldn't be too bad.

@joblo -  thank you for taking your time and putting forth the effort, it is seriously much appreciated.
well I'm gonna wait for that crypto I also wants to mine more i just don't have that capability working for the codes thank you for taking your time on it sir please let us know after creating it. good luck.

Well we almost got it, apparently I didn't configure the openssl correctly for windows for this miner... anyway personally I'm pretty tired anyway so going to catch up a bit on some sleep and try this again in ~6 hours. Afterwhich we should also have some pics of the newly compiled Client as well with the dedicated mining page and the Mailing system mockup page as well.

Very excited about the developments and sorry it's taking so long but all of this takes time lol.

Thanks again guys. Smiley See you in a few.

The miners I tried used getwork gbt version 112. This fork should work similarly. I'm willing to do the testing. I've been solo mining ESPERS.
