1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Encrypted wallet.dat, lost password, any solutions? on: March 21, 2013, 12:44:05 AM
Hey! I have a very similar issue which I posted about here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=153452.

I set up a BlockChain.info Wallet online. I gave it a 'main' password. I know this main password. The problem is I set the 'second password' which in effect performs double encryption, and I thought I knew that password! But it doesn't work  Shocked

Now, I've got 15 BTC in that wallet so it's definitely worth it for me to get back. To recap, I know the initial password that encrypted, and I'm confident I know most of the second password.

My question is how do I go about brute forcing that? I have a .aes.json file with the priv keys that are backed up, but I have no idea on how to go about brute forcing it.

I read the whole post and there are some awesome Ruby scripts, but they all target bitcoind, and I don't have the funds in a local wallet.

Any help?
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / BlockChain.info Wallet 'Desktop Sync' stuck at 'Getting Balances...' on: March 15, 2013, 07:46:56 PM
I'm fairly confident I'm doing every thing correctly. Essentially I am trying to sync my BlockChain.info Wallet to my local Bitcoin-Qt app.

I created a bitcoin.conf file with:
server=1
rpcuser=[user]
rpcpassword=[password]
rpcport=8332
rpcssl=0

(These are per BlockChain.info's instructions)

With that being completed, I go back to BlockChain.info and go to Desktop Sync feature. I then install the plugin for browser (on Safari) and it get to step 2! This is great so far, I am then asked for user/pass for RPC to Bitcoind.

I provide name and pass and it's accepted! I tested this by provided intentionally incorrect credentials to verify that it was even connecting properly. So, improper creds show 'user/pass wrong' while correct creds take me to the next page. Good

On the next page, I try to sync and BlockChain.info just reports 'Getting balances...' an that's that. For the fun of it I opened the JS console and it reports that 'balances' is not defined.

Does anyone have any experience with this or any tips?
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's get bitcoin support for OUYA! on: August 20, 2012, 02:50:04 PM
I'm totally on board for this. I think it makes more sense to be integrated by OUYA in their main store system. If it's a 3rd party app there isn't any incentive for devs to put their games on the 3rd party service.

*Drool*  Shocked

Some nice looking features here in oh6RC1. Soon as I'm back to my MBP I'm gonna test.

6  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Patching The Bitcoin Client To Make It More Anonymous on: February 17, 2012, 07:45:14 AM
This is the one reason I've been looking for alternative clients. I like the idea of controlling where it sends from. If this makes into the official build, I'd be totally convinced.

Any chance of a patched OS X binary? Smiley
7  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Pywallet: manage your wallets/addresses/keys/tx's on: February 16, 2012, 06:25:23 AM
Oh, wow! Thank you (and everyone else who has worked on it) for this awesome tool. It totally saved me, I was able to use it to dump JSON of my wallet. For some reason Bitcoin-qt would never actually open my wallet.

Then I realized it has a super awesome web interface via localhost.
This is brilliant.

9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How did you guys get into bitcoin? on: February 16, 2012, 05:39:56 AM
I honestly don't recall. I've been "into" the whole BTC thing for the last few years. Just never done anything with it.
I have a bit more hardware so started playing with mining and such.

Really interested to see Bitcoin really go somewhere.

Any iOS work?  Wink
I don't have Android, so.

I think a lot of people would like to see more Wallet clients. You can never have too many.
Especially on iOS where the couple there are suck.

Nice question! Good for noobs (read: me). I'm new to the whole Botcoin thing and have been reading about mining. This was really informative. I currently have an nVidia 9800 GT so this is helping me decide on a new card. It'll be a hybrid, not dedicated to mining.

I'm really digging this site, BTW.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOWTO: create a 100% secure wallet on: February 10, 2012, 07:48:51 AM
Just wanted to say "Thank you" for taking the time to make this.
As you've pointed out, it's no means 100% but every bit helps.

I'm going to implement this type of system.

Chris here, in the US.

I've been following Bitcoin for a few years now but never really done anything with it. Just dabbled with a few Bitcents here and there.
I hope to learn more and find cool ways to utilize it's potential.
