261  Economy / Economics / Re: Most bitcoins owned? on: May 21, 2011, 10:31:27 PM

What if they sold early at $0.07 thinking it was a fantastic deal.

And the folks who sold thousands of bitcoins when 1 BTC was at $0.001 "USD" (FRN), thinking it was a fantastic deal.

Unless there are people local to me that wish to purchase my consumer goods for BTC the marginal use of BTC does not exceed $ for me yet....

I know I'm probably not local, but what are the consumer goods you are selling?
266  Economy / Marketplace / Re: New exchange (Bitcoin Market) on: March 17, 2010, 02:53:55 PM
It looks like you can only have one open order at a time, is that correct? Is it desirable to add the feature of allowing multiple open orders?

268  Economy / Economics / Re: Market Influence on Exchange Rate on: March 15, 2010, 11:38:51 AM
I empathize with the concerns of those who feel otherwise, but I think not drawing the attention of the powerful entity that wants to step on you is a valid strategy, especially while the project is still in its incubatory period and still gathering critical mass.

No one promoting discretion is talking about taking any actions to restrict the use of bitcoins, and we all know that ideally can't and shouldn't happen anyway. We are only advising a strategy for survival until the point when it doesn't matter any longer.

We are all on the same team, and a diversity of opinions makes us stronger.

Nice, thank you.
270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do BTC payments have to be signed with the same keys used to get the BTC? on: March 11, 2010, 01:27:44 PM
Hopefully a dev will clarify this for us. Does generating a new address for each person you transfer with mitigate this risk, or is the key the same?

273  Economy / Marketplace / Trading Bitcoins for Online Game Money and Ripplepay IOUs on: March 09, 2010, 10:34:06 PM
If you PM me I will give you my Bitcoins for your Second Life Linden Dollars, Frenzoo Gold Coins, IMVU Credits, or Toribash Credits. I will also give you any of the above for your Bitcoins. I would also like to trade for Ripplepay and could be talked into other alternatives to money.
274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Suggestions to significantly increase bitcoin's users on: March 06, 2010, 03:25:33 PM
I think that since bitcoins primary utility will (at least for the forseeable future) be as a sort of underground currency like egold, for less-than legal activities like tax evasion and underground business rather than generic money substitute. As such, currency exchangers should cater to that crowd and offer anonymous bitcoin-dollar exchanges where the clients are..

While I certainly do not wish to make a ethical judgment on "less-than-legal" activities, I would like to register my opposition to a plan to explicitly "cater to that crowd", for at least strategic reasons.
275  Economy / Marketplace / Re: We accept Bitcoins on: February 27, 2010, 08:48:09 PM
I will send you physical comic books for your bitcoins. I'll try to work out a more formal system in the future, but for now you can pm me your interests or contact details and I'll let you know what I have that might fit and we can make a deal.
