Comments needed about my possible cooling system.
I install aftermarket Northbridge heat sinks to 1.15y FPGAs. As far as I understand, every Northbridge heat sink fits there or are there some differences with the mounting holes? How much pressure can the FPGA take? Can I use a heat sink that weighs 150g?
I use 1850rpm Gentle Typhoon fans to blow cold air to the heat sinks. FPGAs are placed in line inside of wooden tunnel so the air flows through the heat sinks.
Pros? Cons?

Back to the topic what is the best FPGA unit to buy?
For me it's ZTEX 1.15y. I can get them very soon and they know what they are doing. BFL says MiniRig ships in 12-15weeks and I have to pay in advance. It's probably 20weeks. Even if it's 12 weeks (not going to happen) I still can't buy anything from a company that doesn't even update their website or reveal their business license, names etc. Good luck for everyone who already have their Singles. I envy you but ordering Single right now is stupid.
ZTEX has a 2 year warranty.
I can get ZTEX 2-3 months sooner than BFL MiniRig. During those 2,5 months I have mined the price difference. And the most important thing to me: I do not have to wait FOUR MONTHS with almost 20k$ on the line.

You should also inform the scammer that you have filed a police report. Maybe that will make him realize that he will not get away with it. You have probably googled his name and address and they are real? If you want you can PM them to me and if he lives nearby I can pay a visit  I recently got scammed for about 800€. Guy lives in Germany. A lot of detective work, some threats (few calls to his wife) and a police report finally made him pay me back. Police can't do shit. Scammer just gets a criminal record and continues his life like nothing happened. Usually they don't have much to lose if they are so stupid that they cheat people in Huuto.net with their own name. I have two cards which are somehow damaged. They can't be used for gaming but they mine perfectly. One has been stable for 2 weeks now and the other 11 days. When used for gaming the screen starts to blink. Dunno what the problem is. Paid only 25% of the real value.

Any ETA for the reward methog change? Right now it sucks when people are pool hopping. They just collect the rewards from blocks that are found in four or less hours. After that loyal miners do the hard work and mine through the unlucky rounds. |

725/280 seems to be working in GPU2 and GPU1 runs smoothly with whatever I put there. Well, I consider this solved.

Hi,
I have two Asus 5850 DirectCU's. Using Afterburner and CCC 12.1.
AB can change core clock and memory only in GPU1. I can not do anything to GPU2.
With Trixx I can change the memory and core clock on both cards.
System crashes after 2minutes of mining. Without any OC'ing it is stable but MHash/W is so crappy I don't want to run it like that. Any solutions? Tried CrossFire too but same problem.

One of the 5850s has to be the problem. That same computer can run two 5870s without any problems.

Found the solution. Switched from CCC 12.3 to 12.1.

I tried unsync, doesn't work. I have tried everything that you are going to suggest GPU-Z shows the right information. 850/1200 without any changes and the same clocks that AB shows when I OC. This is really weird. Will have to give CGMiner a try. |

Hi all,
One mining rig with 3x5870 working well with no problems.
Today I finished with the second. Afterburner works just fine when the unofficial overclockingmode is NOT enabled. And with this I mean the text in the .cfg gile. So normal overclockin works fine. When I add the:
EnableUnofficialOverclocking = 1
UnofficialOverclockingEULA = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
UnofficialOverclockingMode = 2
AccessibilityCheckingPeriod = 0
Afterburner won't allow overclocking. Trixx doesn't work either. Re-installed windows, drivers, AB and Trixx. Nothing helps.

I got my 770€ back today.
Dropped all the charges of course. I still have some business to take care with the Chinese company that I paid. They haven't been very helpful with this matter.
