Δεν αντιμετώπισα πρόβλημα, εκτός από την κάποια σχετική καθυστέρηση, που χρειάστηκαν περίπου 10 ημέρες ημερολογιακές για να ολοκληρωθεί η μεταφορά.

Όσον αφορά το ρεύμα, μην κοιτάζεις μόνο εκεί που ορίζεται η τιμή της κιλοβατώρας. Αν προσέξεις στον λογαριασμό σου, θα δεις ότι υπάρχουν κι άλλες χρεώσεις (όπως για ΑΠΕ) που βασίζονται στο πόσες kWh έχεις καταναλώσει, αυξάνοντας με αυτό τον τρόπο την τιμή της κάθε μιας. Υπολόγισε επίσης και την αναδρομική αύξηση της τιμής της (δε θυμάμαι ακριβώς να σου πω πόσο και πότε αυξήθηκε)

Για να μετρήσεις την κατανάλωση του υπολογιστή σου, μπορείς να χρησιμοποιήσεις έναν μετρητή κατανάλωσης. Αν σκοπός σου είναι το χρηματικό όφελος, τότε είναι προτιμότερο ν' αγοράσεις κάποιο νόμισμα, όπως αναφέρθηκε ήδη, περιμένοντας ν' ανέβει η αξία του με το χρόνο. Αυτό όμως εμπεριέχει και το ρίσκο να μην ανέβει, ή και να πέσει κι εσύ να χάσεις τα χρήματα που έβαλες.

ΠΡΟΣ ΘΕΟΥ, μην κάνεις Mining με Laptop γιατί κατά πάσα πιθανότητα θα το σκοτώσεις. Δεν είναι σχεδιασμένα αυτά τα μηχανήματα να δουλεύουν 24/7 και μάλιστα στην τσίτα. Ασχολούμαι επαγγελματικά με υπολογιστές και μου έχουν έρθει δεκάδες μηχανήματα, κυρίως με nVidia κάρτες, που έχουν καταστραφεί λόγω υπερθέρμανσης της κάρτας γραφικών.

Οι Έλληνες είμαστε εξαιρετικά συντηρητικός λαός. Όπως θα δεις στην υπογραφή μου, διατηρώ για πάνω από ένα χρόνο ένα ενημερωτικό site για το Bitcoin και δε μπορείς να φανταστείς τι μου έχουν γράψει. Αλλά και από συζητήσεις σε άλλα fora, έχω ακούσει τα απίστευτα. Τέλος, ένας γνωστός μου που τον ξέρω χρόνια, μου είπε να το κλείσω γιατί θα κινδυνεύσω να πάω φυλακή!(;;;!). Δυστυχώς, οτιδήποτε καινούργιο το αντιμετωπίζουμε όχι απλά με δυσπιστία αλλά με αρνητικότητα (για να μην πω επιθετικότητα). Το αυτό και για τις συνεργασίες... Γιατί προτιμούμε πάντα να ψοφήσει η κατσίκα του γείτονα, όπως λέει και η παροιμία. Με τα λεγόμενά μου, δεν έχω σκοπό να θίξω κανέναν προσωπικά.

Το μηχάνημα με τις 3 κάρτες γραφικών που σκέφτεσαι, θα καταναλώνει (πολύ χονδρική εκτίμηση) περίπου 600-700W άρα περίπου 15 κιλοβατώρες την ημέρα. Κάνε τους υπολογισμούς σου, για να μην πέσεις έξω.

Ένας ωραίος τρόπος για να «πετάξεις το κερασάκι» ώστε κάποιος πελάτης να θελήσεις να σε πληρώσει με bitcoins είναι να κάνεις μια γενναία έκπτωση. Αν αναρτήσεις στη σελίδα σου ότι κάνεις π.χ. 20% έκπτωση στις τιμές σου για πληρωμές σε bitcoins (ή κάποιο άλλο altcoin), τότε θα δημιουργήσεις αφενός ενδιαφέρον σε κάποιον που δεν έχει ακούσει για το Bitcoin κι αφετέρου θα το σκεφτεί σοβαρά να βρει τρόπο να σε πληρώσει με αυτό. Η διαφορά των χρημάτων θα καλυφθεί σε βάθος χρόνου, αφού αναμένουμε ότι θα ανέβει η τιμή του Bitcoin.

Wouldn't GPG Signed messages help? I mean, it should be mandatory for the person organizing the lottery to sign his announcement and the sign every following message including PMs. Even if his forum account would get hacked, the hacker wouldn't be able to sign the messages.

But then again, who would take the trouble to verify the signature...?

Things to consider:

1) If you only have the wallet.dat file and not the client, will the future client support your old wallet file? Consider making a backup of the software as well (and the environment maybe?)
2) Suppose you make a CD/DVD/FLash Drive backup, store them and forget them. Will you be able to use those media/hardware after 20 years? (its like having valuable data on a 5 1/4 floppy today)
3) Consider things like checking and renewing every couple of years or so. Checking that your wallet file is still compatible with newer software, you media/flash drive can be used with modern computer and so on. Might also be good to transfer to new wallets every no and then.
4) I think an UNencrypted wallet is not a good idea. Suppose you buy a new computer some day and dump the old one, but some guy manages to recover your deleted wallet file.
5) The private key thing already mentioned sounds good. Give it a shot and mix it up with other methods.

Have a plan for some else to be able to recover the coins when you're dead/injured/not capable of recovering them yourself. It would be terrible if you find yourself in a situation where you're in a comma in a hospital and need money for an operation that will save you, but others can't have access to your funds.

Thanks again for the nice software which I've been using for almost a year now.

I recently upgraded to Bitcoin-Qt v0.8.0 and noticed that Armory stopped showing my balance and stuff. So I went to http://bitcoinarmory.com/get-armory/ and grabbed the following files:
armory_0.87.2-testing_windows_all.msi
armory_0.87.2-testing_sha256sum.txt.asc

The computed SHA1 for armory_0.87.2-testing_windows_all.msi doesn't match the one found inside armory_0.87.2-testing_sha256sum.txt.asc
Two different programs I used, are saying that the SHA1 hash of the downloaded file is e9f67376c5f2072b03ed692b6344a91109d784b0 but the SHA1 hash inside armory_0.87.2-testing_sha256sum.txt.asc is 68fc84d041bdb2d36a2b88c7d7b84d14709b8e14fabd19a7c384a60f787bc678

Am I doing something wrong here?

EDIT: I just noticed that the download page at https://code.google.com/p/bitcoinarmory/downloads/detail?name=armory_0.87.2-testing_windows_all.msi shows the correct SHA1 hash, so I guess it's all OK (I guess the hashes in armory_0.87.2-testing_sha256sum.txt.asc are outdated...)

I read about this ripple thingie and it looks promising.... I also like the idea of IOUs

What's next? I didn't get the connection between https://www.bitstamp.net/ and Ripple. Does BitStamp accept XRPs that can be traded with Bitcoins or Fiat? And one last thing... Are XRPs mined or what?

I suppose it will be both; spend some, keep some. But if there are more people with bitcoins in their hands (so to speak) that need to be spent, then there going to be more merchants wishing to accept them.

Please allow me to make some suggestions:

- All the options of the campaign should be editable. It seems I can't change the option on the right side (Language, Rating, Traffic sources). I understand that I can create a new campaign with the correct settings but that would create a mess; bitcoins can't be transferred from one campaign to another (can they?) moreover if I have ad units that deposit profits to campaign X, then I need to create new ad units to point to the newly created campaign Y.

- Ads should be editable. I don't see an option to change an ad which means that if someone deposits BTC and starts a campaign, he can't change the banner for example, without creating a new ad and campaign, and pouring more BTC in.

- There should be a mention somewhere in the FAQ, that we need to turn AdBlock off to be able to see all the site's options.

- Since referrals get a cut, you should mention that in FAQ along with the fact that an ad unit's link contains the referral code. Advertising this, might bring more peeps to your service.

Now that's a n ice idea! Face2Face meetings are great and more "productive". I live in Athens, how about you guys?

Maybe I haven't done my full homework, but I can't seem to find any site or service to provide a cheap Web2SMS service (not bulk). Something like 3-5 cents per SMS. Is there? By the way, I wasn't thinking about contacting an existing service asking them to accept bitcoins. I was thinking about creating a whole new web service doing just that; send cheap SMS via a web page. The idea behind the project is to provide a useful service that accepts bitcoins to demonstrate (especially to Greeks) that bitcoin is not only about drugs (we only see negative articles on the Greek press about bitcoin >.< )

Up to now, I've set up the interface and the user management back-end but I got stuck with Greek-character problems.

P.S. I didn't know about time4sms.gr. They seem to offer the service for 3,57 cents/SMS (VAT incl.) which is OK. I'll check the other providers you post ASAP.
