1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Google to ban adverts for cryptocurrency and ICOs on: March 15, 2018, 07:14:19 PM
" Google is to ban cryptocurrency adverts following a similar move by Facebook that sees the two giants of online advertising blocking controversial cryptocurrency promotions.

Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are unregulated and many adverts promoting Bitcoin are misleading or scams. Google's ban will cover Google's Ad Words advertising products and YouTube, blocking adverts on cryptocurrencies including so-called initial coin offerings (ICOs).

Adverts promoting cryptocurrency and ICOs, which see people buying volatile tokens in the hope they will go up in value, have spread following the surge in interest in Bitcoin in 2017.

Many adverts appear to be scams, offering get-rich-quick schemes or encouraging people to invest in risky and unregulated ICOs, many of which have failed or even vanished with investor money. The price of Bitcoin fell around $400 this morning to $8,895, according to CoinDesk.

From June, advertisers will be blocked from posting adverts on several other controversial financial products. "This year, we updated several policies to address ads in unregulated or speculative financial products," said Google director sustainable ads Scott Spencer.

While cryptocurrency advertising will be totally blocked, adverts on speculative products such as binary options, foreign exchange markets and contracts for difference will only be available to certain certified advertisers, according to the new Google AdWords policy. Affiliate adverts, which take a cut for referring new customers to these products, will be totally banned.

The move follows a similar ban by Facebook in January. Facebook said at the time most cryptocurrency advertisers were not "operating in good faith".

Google's ban would affect adverts on YouTube, which has become a haven of cryptocurrency news and advice. "

5  Economy / Scam Accusations / qhoster.com scam. on: July 06, 2017, 04:49:35 PM
What happened::

Hello, so yesterday I've purchased for $14.48 a web hosting plan for my personal website for a duration of one month in the website www.qhoster.com as you can see in this invoice https://bitpay.com/invoice?id=8uzHKFg5GNWgVtP9DkTTtj

They delivered the service in 30minutes I was able to upload my files and my website was running well, today when trying to access my website it did not work so I logged into my qhoster account and saw that they suspended my hosting plan without giving me any reason, I've contacted their support 2 times asking for answers and a refund using the ticket on their website but they keep deleting the tickets (yep literally deleting the tickets not closing them) without giving me any response.

So basically they took my money and the service I've paid for, this is no more no less a scam, as the bitcoin payment are handled by Bitpay, I've contacted them asking for a refund, we'll see.

Sir, for $100k I'll burn it, pee on it, poop on it, shove it in the anus of a dead body, eat that dead body, puke, and finally burn the vomit.

How as an individual can I know if the Earth is a sphere or a flat disc? What experiment can I do that doesn't involve trusting information from a 3rd party that would prove what the geometry really is?

Maybe by studying a bit of physics and stop being a fat fuck who believes that everything is a complot?
8  Economy / Services / Re: writing professional emails on: July 02, 2017, 01:42:44 PM
Could you post some examples? Also what do you charge or is it based on the length of the email? Is your native language English, French or something else?
My native language is Arabic, however I have studied French since 2001, and as our educational curriculum is completely based on the French language we manage to master this last perfectly !
about the length of the email, I think it is not a reference anymore, in the meantime the length can present a constraint especially speaking with very busy men !
Following your request here is an example of mail that I sent like a request of second correction of an examination :
"bonjour madame,

Nice to hear.  Smiley
Did you get the powerline adapter working too?

Yep it worked fine, I didn't even have to first connect it to the router to set a static Ip, everything worked directly.   Grin

Problem resolved  Cheesy

I resolved the problem by checking those 4 checkbox on my router's configuration panel.
12  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can I connect my Antminer S7 using a powerline adapter ? on: February 25, 2017, 12:36:45 PM
If the person before you had a static IP that doesnt match your network you will not be able to connect. The best way to go about this is to perform a factory reset. There is a pinhole next to where the ethernet cable plugs in, that is the reset button. Use a paper clip or something similar to push the button down and hold it for 5-6 seconds until you see it flash both the red and green light at the same time on the status LEDs. Once that is done give it about 2 minutes to reboot and it will be on DHCP with just the factory antpool configuration for mining. You should be able to see it on your routers DHCP table at this point and you can then access the GUI to complete the setup.

Hello, I already done a factory reset but the problem still remains  Huh.
13  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can I connect my Antminer S7 using a powerline adapter ? on: February 24, 2017, 06:55:35 PM
Where did you get the antminer from? If you bought it secondhand then ask the seller what the ip address is/was.

Or download IPScanner (not the bitmain one) and scan your network but using 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 range and see if it finds it.

Yes it's secondhand, I tried with IPScanner but I got nothing.

1. Figure out the powerline adapter link. Follow the instructions. Test it with some easy device.
2. When you got that working, then you can try to connect the miner and setup it by first finding it's IP address via router web setting page for example and then following instructions available in the Bitmain Antminer S7 manual (www.bitmain.com) or instructions available here at the forum.

The thing is that even when I tried to connect it dirrectly to my modem I got the red light and beep sound.
14  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can I connect my Antminer S7 using a powerline adapter ? on: February 24, 2017, 06:01:10 PM
You are right to say that the beeping sound is caused by a faulty internet connection.
Have you configured your pool? Can you access the miner with its IP address?
I can't even access the configuration page of the antminer because I don't know its IP, I used the software Ipreporter and even checked the DHCP list on my router's configuration panel but I couldn't find anything.
I've just tried to connect it directly to my modem instead of using the powerline adapter but the same thing occur, red light and a beeping sound after 5-10mins.
15  Bitcoin / Mining support / Can I connect my Antminer S7 using a powerline adapter ? on: February 24, 2017, 10:50:56 AM
Hello,
I just received my Antminer S7 with his bitmain APW3 PSU

This is how it looks like when the psu is powered

I would like to know if it's possible to connect the miner to the internet using a powerline adapter like this one I have here

I tried it, but the light won't go green, it keeps flashing red and after 5-10 mins the miner start making a beep sound ( I think it's because he can't access the internet but I'm not sure)

Thanks in advance for your help.

Well I'm going to make the payment today for this one https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Bitcoin-Miner-Antminer-S7-4-73TH-Asic-Miner-4730GH-Newest-Btc-Miner-Better-Than-Antminer/32611434906.html
I hope I'll not have problems with the customs.
17  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is a $0,032/kWh electricity good for mining ? on: January 10, 2017, 11:11:48 AM

I don't know this seller, but if i remember correctly, i've seen S7's on this forum going for around $400 (in BTC).
Given that the shipping is free, and you get a PSU, it might be a reasonable deal.

Don't forget: maybe the shipping is free, the customs charges might actually cost rather much. I know in some countries, those charges go up to 50€ + 20% (or even more)

That's actually the thing I'm worried about right now : the customs.
There are only 2 countries in the world where UPS, FEDEX, DHL, guarantee the delivery only until the customs, after that they removes any responsibility ( the first one is North Korea   Grin )
If you ask someone from my country to describe our customs using one word, they'll directly choose "thief"  Sad , they're reputed for stealing everything especially electronics stuff, they're basically making their own laws, sometime they'll charge you 75% for a graphic card and sometime they'll charge you 0% for a PS3 (both are true stories), I hope I'll not have problems with them,I think I might ask the vendor to fake the price on the invoice to avoid those thief, but I know that they do a research with the item reference on google and the first price they see on ebay or amazon they'll make it the original price  Huh.
18  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is a $0,032/kWh electricity good for mining ? on: January 10, 2017, 09:58:58 AM
With that electricity I would go for the S9 miner. In China with the right knowledge (i.e aliexpress, verify everything thoroughly there) you can get the S9 Antminer less than 2000 USD and with that price for electricity you can make at this moment :

http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculator/?h=14000&p=2350&pc=0.032&pf=0.00&d=317688400354.03400000&r=12.50000000&er=913.53000000&hc=0.00

250 USD net profit monthly so you need about 6-8 months to break even. Then you will have profit. And with that electricity you can be profitable for a long time. In this case I would be a risk taker but can't as in my country energy is f*cking expensive 0.16 USD/kWh.

To be honest the exact price of my electricity isn't $0.032/kWh, we have like consumption ranges with different prices, for example if I consume 2793  kWh in a trimester (we pay every 3 months), the price is calculated like this :
The first 125 kWh are for $0,01/kWh +
The second 125 kWh are for $0,024/kWh +
750 kWh are for $0,028/kWh +
The last remaining 1793 kWh are for $0,032/kWh

So basically if I would run one antminer S7, the electricity would cost me around $100/trimester.
I know that with a S9 it would be more profitable, but as it's my really first time in mining I want to try first with small hardware.

I've came across some listings on AliExpress especially this one https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Bitcoin-Miner-Antminer-S7-4-73TH-Asic-Miner-4730GH-Newest-Btc-Miner-Better-Than-Antminer/32611434906.html
If you guys can tell me what do you think about it, I think I'll order this one because he offer a 1600W PSU with the miner and the shipping is for free ( and the vendor have 94.5% Positive feedback and they have been on aliexpress for 3 years.) but if you have better choices for me please let me know  Smiley

19  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is a $0,032/kWh electricity good for mining ? on: January 09, 2017, 10:40:31 AM
Hello, I'm thinking on taking some Antminer S7 and start mining but I'm wondering if it'll be profitable with a $0,032/kWh electricity ?

http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculator/?h=4860&p=1210&pc=0,032&pf=0.00&d=317688400354.03400000&r=12.50000000&er=900.57000000&hc=0.00

Long story short, at current diff, price and block reward, you'd make about 100 bucks a month.

Now, you can see which risk you're willing to take... see how much an S7 + PSU + air conditioning + shelves + tax + shipping would cost you, divide it by 100 and see how long it'll take you to break even.
Do realise the price is dropping, the diff might rise, the block reward will halve in a couple of years,... I'd personally guesstimate i'd make $70/month instead of $100 to incorporate the risks, and i'd personally want to break even in less than 6 months... So, personally , i would only undertake this endaveour if my total purchase and setup costs were lower than ~ 6 * 70 = $420... but then again, i'm not really a risktaker Wink

Thank you for your answer,
$420 for all the setup is just impossible in my case Sad just the shipping price will cost me like $100...
But why would you want to break in less than 6 months? I have read that the Antiminer S7 have 5 years lifetime, is this true or just bullshit? also I wanted to know what is the importance of the batch number when buying a miner.
