1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: July 31, 2015, 04:22:43 AM
This all goes back to sFards  and how they market this item.

Remember they are the builders of the blade which came out last year at 3000 usd and dropped and dropped and dropped until they were under 200 on eBay.

I liked zoom hash and purchased 7k in blades last year total of 17 blades . I am not going to say do not buy from zoom hash or iTop I am going to say I do not like the way sFards went about introducing this to the btc ltc world.

Stop giving the guy a hard time. He is NOT a manufacturer but clearly a reseller. If anyone thinks they are a scam, simply do not buy from them, period. I am sure their prices will put off a lot of people, as the very same rigs can be got from the manufacturers cheaper (albeit subject to taxes).
But honestly, would any "respected" member of this forum asking for a rig to be sent before paying actually pay for it if it were sent (at their prices)? The answer will be a convoluted one, arguing price point, shipping et al and ending with NO. So why do you ask if you know you can not (and will not) pay for it? Cut the guy some slack.

If I recall he refuses escrow. My thoughts are new person refuses escrow and wants btc payment is asking to be reamed and asked to prove he or she is real.

If they run dual mode power is 970 not sure if any one has shown they really can run dual mode at 970 watts

I would like my -1.01 to -1.25

Thanks

7  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: July 28, 2015, 02:33:27 AM
These machines have only been running for about 40 days in our farm,

Just as I speculated, about long enough for manufacturer to ROI the machine.  Nice business model, they basically get paid twice for each machine.

Thank you for stating it publicly, now if only you'd price them to reflect their used nature!

in 40 days S5 produces just ~$130 minus electricity (has to be at least $18.48 if the cost is 3c/kwh), so no more than $110 produced.
It could pad the margins, though.

And if they get 110 usd in coin before they pack it. Then charge 10 usd extra for shipping
By this charge 50 to ship when they pay 40 to ship.

they are 120 plus 410 which is 530 per machine. The most an s-5 cost to build is 200 usd so an easy 330 profit.

Now I want them to do well. Why? I think they can sell the s-5 for 250 plus shipping and I think it is a bad idea to do it. I think selling low will make  make btc drop under 200. Usd
8  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What is the best/most current device for mining purposes? on: July 28, 2015, 02:08:24 AM
As per subject.
Looking for mining options to use come fall. I have cheap power($0.08 USD/KWH). Previously I was able to heat my home cheaper by mining than with the actual heaters in my friggin house. For the first winter I even made a hefty profit and kept the home nice and toasty but since GPU mining is more or less dead I sold off most of my gear. Whats out there these days that I should look into?
I'll probably fund the purchase using BTCJam so cost isn't an issue assuming the device actually has potential for a decent return.

Eight cent power and a heat benefit means you are close to six cent power.

So I would argue s-3 may make sense. Since the s-7 is not available. The s-5 is really loud and more than three times the price of the s-3.

An s-3 at 80 usd is 240 usd for 1200gh. The s-5 is more then 425 usd for 1150 gh one uses 950 watts the other uses 300 watts. So the s-5 saves you about 18-20 a month but costs you 210 usd extra up front
9  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain Antminer S6 and S7 Speculation on: July 28, 2015, 01:14:18 AM
what if s7 will come out ~December! Shocked Shocked Shocked

they should arrive nov 1. You read it here first
10  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: what percentage of all hashing are individual miners? on: July 28, 2015, 12:52:58 AM
I would arbitrarily define individual as anybody with less than 0.1PH (100TH)=~100 S5 or ~20 Sp30-35. If you have more-you are a real business.
My prediction is not more than 10-15%, but I could be wrong and would appreciate pointers to an accurate estimate.
How many SP30-35 were produced? I remember seeing $28mil revenue for Spond.
With an average price of probably ~$4000 over lifetime of sales, this would be ~7000 machines or ~30 PH. Maybe 1/3 are individuals or 10PH.
Phil was posting estimate of S5 sales somewhere, but I could not locate it.
Antpool has ~20% (~80PH), but it is not necessarily all S5. Maybe 1/3-1/2 are individuals=26-40 PH or ~20K-33K machines which looks like an overestimate, so perhaps these numbers are too high. If estimates are correct, then ~36-50 PH are individuals (9-13% of the total hash) without counting S3.
Opinions?

I did two breakdowns of f2pool .  They have 70ph at least twenty percent or 14ph is from 20 th or less.

The s-5 numbers I did are old from March 15000 minimum sold and paid with btc.

My guess for under twenty th miners is forty to eighty ph total of the network.

Ten to twenty percent of the 400ph in the network.
I am willing to do a breakdown of f2pool on weds as I know I will be tired after I drive from Virginia beach my Howell no home on Tuesday

Every time I run a group buy some a-hole try's to copy my philipma1957 account.

I get back on Tuesday I will mark him with my good account.

So do not pay anyone for Avalon mini gear.  Wait for my review with my legend account.

Thanks to all reading this thread.

And the chips keep coming.
14  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: July 25th to Aug 8th diff thread (temp) on: July 27, 2015, 01:17:46 PM
Blockchain.info shows 144 made for Sunday and 78 for today. Basically the real time diff is under two percent.

Two percent of 400 ph is eight ph about seven thousand s-5 machines
15  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: new to mining, what hardware do i need on: July 27, 2015, 12:46:04 PM
I think your best bet is to find a cheap S3 around $80 and start mining with that.  It's a lot more profitable than a usb stick miner.

If you are set on a stick miner than sidehack has a really good device coming out you can grab and mess around with

The s-3 is stand alone just needs an Ethernet jack and a decent power supply.

In order to make profit 8 cents a kilowatt is good

Number six
I think a direct order from bitmaintech may work.  Www.bitmaintech.com
17  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2900 TH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: July 27, 2015, 02:42:10 AM
I am close to even for the two fifty th I rented during the the 2x satan block. I think I need two blocks in under 125 percent.
If you started any time during the last 167% of the 666.666% block, then you will be on target of 100% (or better the later you started) for 4 blocks already.
So yeah that just depends on the next block if you hit the 100% for 5 blocks and the expected average payout.

Also, the average fee was quite good on those 4 so the PPS on them (again if you started mining during the last 167% of the 666.666% block) should be ~99.95% after removing the pool fee.
I like your 5n system.

So I keep an eye at the pool and every once in a while do a nice rental.  Must be the eighth on ninth time I have done it.  Kind of fun.
18  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: July 27, 2015, 02:25:03 AM

1999 why bother.

I will tell you why some people will pay that.

I can tell you if it can mine at the claimed power numbers you will still need six or seven cent power and under 1200 shipped to stand a chance to get your money back.

When grid seed blades came out people on site said wait I did wait and paid way under 3000 a machine.

I still lost money with them!

20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S5 reliability and losses from defective miners on: July 27, 2015, 01:48:26 AM
I may do an s-5 survey but think that 5 percent is a safe guess for a six month time period.

Wow! 5% loss is quite painful if it's true!
Does anybody have actual numbers about S5?

I don't think 5% is a shocking number especially for a new style of hardware that is running 24/7 (these mines never ever turn those things off) I mean just look at major hardware companies and they have a similar death rate and those things are turned off commonly.

Also most miners have a lot of gear.  This means a lot of heat and heat kills gear.
