361  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What are miners doing with their profits? on: March 03, 2016, 12:54:37 AM
I once heard that miners (in China) are selling their coins to the rich Chinese people who want to transfer money out of China.

Therefore, maybe they do not use exchanges to cash out their profits.
362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Halving is a profitable??? on: March 03, 2016, 12:52:21 AM
Halving is just one of the many factors that may affect the price. If most people think the price will increase (=profitable), the price should have increased by now- it is only about 4 months from the actual halving.

I guess most people are still in the "wait-and-see" mode so it is going to be exciting in the coming months.

363  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: i heard bitcoin illegal in Taiwan...why? on: March 02, 2016, 10:08:07 AM
I think there was a recent presidential election and the winner is from the other political party. Maybe there are some changes in the regulations? Any formal statement from the government of Taiwan??

365  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help! My bitcoins are not confirming! on: March 02, 2016, 09:33:39 AM
No worries. We are having some stress tests at the moment, which is a rather frequent exercise for the network. Your transaction should eventually get confirmed.

However, if it fails to confirm it will return to the sender, so please keep your private key/wallet access of the sending source...
366  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: A question about confirmations during stress test on: March 02, 2016, 06:55:00 AM
A very simple question:

During stress test, it will take quite a while before a transaction gets the first confirmation, which will depend on the priority (fee, age of unspent input etc).

However, after getting the first confirmation, can I assume that the tx will receive the 2nd, 3rd and subsequent confirmations in every 10 minutes??
Yes. A confirmation simply means that a transaction has been included in a block. Once it is included in one block (one confirmation), the rest of the confirmations mean that the block it is included in is X blocks from the most recent block. The only way to get those is for more blocks to be found. Of course, due to randomness, blocks are not produced every 10 minutes. On average it is 10 minutes, but it isn't always exactly 10 minutes.

Thanks for explaining this... I was wondering what is the difference between 1 or a few confirmations. Now I am happy to accept transaction with 1 confirmation as a "confirmed" payment.

368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Core, how many connections is too few? can you have too many? on: March 02, 2016, 12:53:31 AM
I think the more the merrier, but really depending on your bandwidth.

If port 8333 is not forwarded, then 8 connections are the max and not contributing to the network.
369  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best physical wallet? on: March 01, 2016, 04:17:53 PM
Paper wallet is the best to me- cheap, good and easy to obtain!

However, I think Trezor is the one I will get when I get my first 1 (or 2) bitcoin.
370  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to motivate women to use Bitcoin? on: March 01, 2016, 03:19:15 PM
Basically women = credit card
So when they meet it, they can be easily spend it all.
If bitcoin also can be implement just how cc's work, nothing is impossible that woman can use bitcoin more frequent than using cc

It's definitely not credit cards that attract women.

"Diamond is a girl's best friend!"

Let's persuade a diamond shop to accept bitcoin or maybe just build a BTC/diamond exchange. I am sure the women in the whole world will start talking about bitcoin!
371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool is now up to 25.5 MB with 22,200 transactions waiting. on: February 29, 2016, 02:52:25 PM
Any particular reason for the high mempool? Any stress test on going?

If Classic were to be implemented now, would this still happen so frequently?
372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does the bible say about Bitcoin? on: February 29, 2016, 02:46:45 PM
Bible talked about wealth and money many times. For example, in Ecclesiastes 5:8-20, the author (most likely King Solomon) explained what wealth and money is.

"Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless." (Ecclesiastes 5:10)
373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just booked a trip using BTC on: February 29, 2016, 02:01:03 PM
I'm going to the Bahamas in April! Cool
Thanks expedia!
I just wanted to share. I had no idea they excepted BTC.
This is my first "big" purchase using bitcoin and I'm stoked.

Excellent. Did you book everything including the hotel, flight, ground transport, meals and guides?

Maybe you can throw a few message-in-a-bottle with loaded bitcoin paper wallet while you enjoy the beach. Someone might pick it up one day!

374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why most of btc users are russians? on: February 29, 2016, 01:57:13 PM
I don't know where you got this Info. but according to me the users seems well scattered. mostly I see people from US, India and EU and some of course Russians.
As far as Russian being scamers, nah u don't think I haven't seen any Russian to scam, but then scammer don't have a country  Undecided

Totally agree. I have many Russian friends and they are all honest people by nature and in their culture.

I think many scammers just pretend to be from Russia just because most people think it is difficult to trace someone from a country so far and less understood.
375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My Bitcoins Are Stuck - Unconfirmed After 20 Hours on: February 29, 2016, 01:54:02 PM
I guess there is nothing you can do and most likely it will get confirmed eventually... but at least you will save about 100 bits for the delay. Which wallet/client were you using?
376  Economy / Economics / Re: Anyone here part of "1 million club"? on: February 29, 2016, 07:24:22 AM
I would love just to have the 2.1 bitcoins.  Some of us have a long way to go.

You can just step out and buy them. $1000 is not huge money, even for somebody in the developing world. If you are looking to make 2.1 bitcoins online through faucets / signature campaigns, it could take quite some time.

I think I don't have the patience to work on faucets. Signature campaigns are still ok for me since I love to join the discussions.
I have a friend who worked on faucets and managed to get about 0.1 BTC before quiting, which I think is already the extreme.
377  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin and Litecoin in 20 years on: February 29, 2016, 07:16:20 AM
Bitcoin will become the "gold" of the internet while Litecoin will become the "silver." With Bitcoin trading above $3000.

Sad part, there will be a lot of unclaimed Bitcoin by that time.

Just my thoughts.

When do you expect bitcoin to trade at above $3000? 20 years is a bit pessimistic. Where are the unclaimed bitcoin?

378  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitcoins.work is Scam! on: February 29, 2016, 07:11:19 AM
I am sorry to hear this. This is just another scam.

Most of the investments that give you ridiculously high return are scams. There is no free lunch in this world.
379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why mining option was removed from bitcoin core/classic? on: February 29, 2016, 01:27:14 AM
I agree that mining using the nodes is really pointless and kind of "duplicate effort" since there are so many industrial level miners around. Mining will slow down your PC and make it difficult to use. For me I just run the node in the background and continue to do my daily work using the PC.
380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens when we have mined all the BTC on: February 29, 2016, 01:20:44 AM
I really hope this day will come sooner but unfortunately not in our lifetime- Out of sight, out of mind!!
