I agree with the minimum order pricing for a unit specifically designed for mass adoption. It reduces the portion of costs being paid to a courier company significantly.

The reason why we set 4 units as minimum order for overseas market instead of 1 or 2 is that the cost for shippment is too high. DHL in China is rather expensive, we can get relatively cheaper price only if the goods reaches certain level of weight. Please kindly understand of it.
123  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 08, 2014, 02:49:51 AM
Does the price include shipping ?

No. Shipping fee will be calculated separately according to different regions.

Rockminer, can you provide dB (for noise) estimate for one unit or four units at 1m distance?
Video is not clear on that.

Exact dB level needs to be further tested. Will release it soon.

Can you declare a low value like ~400-500 USD for customs?

Yes. It's flexible.
130  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 07, 2014, 09:18:56 AM
rockxie,
it's still a bit confusing.
Let me repeat what I understood and ask for clarification:

it's 1 btc per xrbox (minimum order 4) ?
when we receive the xrbox, we mine for ourselves, not for rockminer?
if after 60 days of mining, 1 btc is not mined back (or USD equivalent, reference $650/USD) then you will pay back the difference to bring the total to 1 btc (or USD equivalent with starting reference of $650/USD)

it's 1 btc per xrbox (minimum order 4) ?
Yes,1 RX-BOX=1BTC

when we receive the xrbox, we mine for ourselves, not for rockminer?

For R60 we have two different understanding:

To ROCKMINER: Miners help ROCKMINER to host RX-BOX for 60 days after paid the hosting deposit, after hosting 60 days, ROCKMINER will refund the hosting deposit (subtracting the theoretical income),then ownership of RX-BOX will be transfered to miners.

To miner: An insurance for the mining machine is added when he buy a RX-BOX, He will earn back his cost of miner after 60 days, no matter how difficult soar, no need to worry.

Yes.but this is the theoretical income.
Here is the  theoretical income of 600G in last period : http://www.rockminer.com/R60/mining_calculator.php?hash=600000&sec=1076243&diff=10455720138

I am sorry, but it is still confusing:

1. What is the minimal order? 1, 2 or 4?
2. Can 1 RX-box function on its own while connected to a router?
3. If not, what is needed in addition?
4. marketing materials need work

1. For domestic China market, we sell by minimum order of 2 units while for non-China market minimum order is 4 units.  If one wants to buy less than 4, can buy from resellers.
2/3. You need a Raspberry Pi to connect to a router. One rpi has 2 ports which can be connected to 2 RX-BOXes. For official sales mode, 4 units RX-BOXes are equipped with 2 RasPi.
4. We're improving our marketing related materials.

I dont like how they just adjusted 1 unit = 4 @ 600ghs when it was 1 unit = 2 @ 600ghs.  But I guess thats what we were assuming it was and never got a clear answer. Roll Eyes

For domestic China market, we sell by minimum order of 2 units while for non-China market minimum order is 4 units.  If one wants to buy less than 4, buy from our resellers.
132  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 07, 2014, 07:46:34 AM
R60 is very interesting. It is too bad minimum order quantity is 4 though. The problem being that the set would require more current than a single US circuit can provide. So if we haven't already run electric for a small farm then we are either doing that or running extension cords or networking cable to connect to the Pi.

I'm thinking about this from the perspective that was mentioned: getting more people involved in mining. This is targeted at someone with lower risk tolerance, who may not already be involved in mining, but who still has the infrastructure or space to run something that power hungry (in Quantity 4). It seems like a narrow market.

Is R60 going to be sold by resellers in quantity 1 or only in higher quantity?

Thanks.

Yes. Directly buying from ROCKMINER official website, minimum order is 4 units. If just buy 1, you may buy from reseller.
133  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 07, 2014, 03:48:23 AM

1) The 60 day hosting peroid begins on day of delivery. What is in place to help guarantee timely delivery?

R60 starts on day of receiving,we will leave 3~5 days after shipping. And our resellers are also can help us solve this problem.

2) Do we have control over which pool the RX-Box is directed to (wallet also) at all times?

Yes,you have the RX-BOX,it is a normal mining machine.

3) Is our 1BTC per RX-Box hosting deposit held in escrow? If so will it be held until the full 60 days hosting period has passed even if RX-Box is delivered 8 weeks late?

No,we need money to reproduction, this is one of the reasons we do this project. We will start shipping on 25th this month.

4) Is there a cancelation policy in place if you deliver late?

We will cancel orders and refund the hosting deposit if we can't ship out in JUNE and users ask to refund.

5) How can we be sure you will pay any shortage of earned BTC?

Just with ROCKMINER's company's reputation.

6) Your site does not allow selection of country or cities for shipping calculations in the checkout section!

Should be fixed now, please re-check it.

137  Local / 挖矿 / ROCKMINER“全民挖矿”计划续集之“R60计划”,RX-BOX,算力600GH/S,单位功耗1.2W on: June 05, 2014, 03:44:39 PM

One small update from an "early user" of the Rbox (i.e. last Friday I started). I have put my old Kill-O-Watt P4400 device in to measure the power draw of the device. Right now I am running at the stock 270M speed, and getting about 32GH/s (as seen by Slush's pool). It appears to be drawing about 39 watts at the wall with a "nothing special" 12V 6A power supply. I have no idea of the efficiency of the power supply, it was just handy and I wanted to get started. I have yet to try a faster clock. I am using a Raspberry Pi, and the power draw for the RPi is NOT included in the 39 watts.

So far I have zero complaints about it's speed, power draw, it's construction, packaging , or reliability. Right now, It appears to be a roughly 100x BE100 USB Block Erupter in terms of performance. I expect the software inconvenience will get ironed out over time, and then it will be a pretty easy device to do whatever you might want with.

Thanks for your neutral comments, we are going to improve it. I suggest not running up than 290m, we tried run 40 units with one hub and R-PI, performance was good.

Am I missing something?  $110 USD for 35Ghs?  With FREE electricity it's over 110 days to ROI.

they are not for roi

their purpose is to introduce into mining, basic miner education

Smiley

That's the point, we're trying to improve our products, which can cover education and professional mining investment, R-BOX is the first step of it.

Did you see the price on shop.rockminer.com? You can buy R-BOX from distributors of RM,some of them posted infos at this thread:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=528464.0,and we are going to adjust price too.
