It's gone already. Didn't earn a single cent with this, oh well...

Tried this out now. Sent the coins from a blockchain.info wallet. Used the "Custom" option on the "Send Money" screen to make sure everything was being sent from the same address, and that the change address was that very same one.
Sent without transaction fees, it's included in a block already (and no, I didn't get lucky).

But as IT, this is a great OS for me because new computer users aren't going to be able to do anything to repair there system. Its like windows its hidden thru two layers on anything you want to do.

Microsoft has made it pretty easy to "reset" the OS, that is, formatting it. Users will just wipe everything instead of calling support, and probably they won't even need to care much about backups if they choose to give all data to Microsoft and sync their account online.
But yes, Microsoft hid pretty well the safe mode as well as the other recovery options.
184  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin advertising networks - oh, the irony on: September 05, 2012, 08:41:14 PM
I don't understand how advertising can sustain a website. I probably haven't clicked on a single ad since I was a little kid.

I agree with you. I never clicked ads not even when I was a little kid, and now I use an ad blocker which is disabled on the websites I support (still, they'll only make money if the advertiser pays per view).

Running my websites based solely on the ads profit would be impossible. 8 months after I started putting ads on the websites, only now the sum of what I earned with ads is enough to pay for a small VPS... for one month. It's the result of using bitcoin-accepting advertising networks when you don't want to have intrusive ads on your website (and note that most ad blockers still don't block ads from these networks!).

I'll also use Linux instead of Windows whenever possible, but I thought MS released a free 90-day-trial for people to test Win8? I just don't know if people can activate (or "activate") that copy or if it will obligatorily stop working after 90 days.

So if I have an URL shortener, I'll see ads about URL shortening? Oh, noes! Wink
187  Economy / Marketplace / Re: $1,000 bounty for Blockchain.COM (not .info) on: September 05, 2012, 07:44:47 PM
Why do two people want it?  Did the .info owner put a bounty on it?

piuk has put a 5BTC bounty on another thread, and before him there was an user looking for it already.

Now this "Blockchain_Helper" wants to contact the owner too, and "World" has replied to every thread about the subject (including this one) with the same message:

Is there any information that can help them to find the owner.thx

188  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does Bruce have a deal for you... on: September 05, 2012, 06:02:57 PM
Looks like the website owner didn't even take the time to switch from the default Wordpress theme...

I may as well start trading Bitcoin for a price of $30 USD/Bitcoin. Buy only, of course.
189  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoid flexcoin! on: September 05, 2012, 05:58:37 PM
You know, Flexcoin is not an altcoin. It's a "Bitcoin bank" (their words, not mine).
I'll leave the link here so you can see how it is not an altcoin... http://www.flexcoin.com/
190  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoid flexcoin! on: September 05, 2012, 05:35:59 PM
I sent the very little coins I had there to somewhere else a long time ago (before they changed owners), and now that I think on it, I think I had a similar problem... because of the fees math, I had to leave a little amount in there, not that it matters anymore.

IMHO you should stay away from Flexcoin [not only because of the reasons mentioned in the OP but also] because the fees to take money out of the account and into other Bitcoin addresses are really noncompetitive compared to other online wallets. That wouldn't be an issue if enough people used Flexcoin (transfers between accounts are free), but I don't think its userbase is significant enough, so you'll find yourself transferring to outside Bitcoin addresses more often than to Flexcoin accounts.

Interesting how the OP asked the question and then didn't say anything else on this thread...
192  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: anoMsg - Anonymous Message on: September 05, 2012, 03:08:39 PM
Well, I tried it, it's interesting but what about an option to specify how many times the message can be viewed before it is destroyed?

193  Other / Off-topic / Bitcoin advertising networks - oh, the irony on: September 05, 2012, 12:13:56 PM
In these days when bitcoin-accepting ad networks seem to appear (and sometimes, disappear) faster than the advertisers interested to place an ad with them, I managed to get this nice screenshot where you can see four ad networks advertised on two banners from different networks:

http://tny.im/gN

So there we have: BitVisitor, Anonymous Ads, CoinURL and now also the new Bitcoin AdSmart.

The supply of people interested in placing ads on their websites and visiting others' websites to earn money is nowhere small, but I don't think we can say the same about advertisers... personally, most banners I see these days don't show more than half a dozen different ads.
This hurts affiliates too, because if there's no variety, people won't click the ads, meaning less profit.
194  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info wallet question on: September 02, 2012, 11:02:33 AM
Perhaps piuk could develop a feature so that when it detects that the browser doesn't support WebSocket, it would "click" the refresh button automatically every one or two minutes? I know this is not real-time, but it's still better than having the user click the refresh button manually.
195  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info wallet question on: September 01, 2012, 11:47:52 PM
You can always manually refresh the transactions by clicking the refresh arrow icon at the top right of the page, next to the logout button. I think it works on any browser no matter if it supports WebSockets or not.

197  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Free CoinURL referral links on: August 31, 2012, 06:42:33 PM
Just so you don't spend time checking, this is not for people who have, on their websites, ads from networks other than CoinURL.
198  Other / Off-topic / Re: My Private Investigator just found out some info on Pirate on: August 31, 2012, 06:38:32 PM
Pirate Investigator? Yeah I saw those for sale on Bitmit the other day, only BTC9.999995, what a bargain!
199  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Combating cheating by analyzing browser fingerprints on: August 31, 2012, 05:23:20 PM
extra 0.001 BTC/day
Actually it's more like 0.0001 BTC/day on OP's faucet.

IMHO, adding yet another variable to the list of things to check only increases the chances that one of the validation steps fails, making it more cumbersome to get that 0.0001 BTC. And when people can't get money from your website, they'll stop coming back to it, which equals less advertising revenue.

More and more people care about their privacy on the internet and some don't like the fact that they are being tracked and bubbled. This means the crowd of people that already block ads, Google Analytics and JavaScript on unknown websites will get into the next step and block websites from knowing their user agent, referrer and other browser information. Sure, you can always ask them to disable these privacy features on your website for it to work (much like "we're the cops, show us your ID"), but then some will say "so much for this? I'm not coming back here!" (and in the specific case of Bitcoin faucets, they'll say in addition "I thought you were going to give me free bitcoins, is this a SCAM?").
Personally I go away from websites which force me to disable my ad blocker before I can visit them, now imagine if I hid my user agent and these websites forced me to disable my ad blocker AND show them who am I.
200  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcrate resurrected! Free Bitcoins everyday on: August 31, 2012, 03:44:40 PM
Indeed, whenever the admin posts on BitCrate's Twitter saying the site's been reloaded with funds, they disappear within a hour or two.
