You would have to use a trusted escrow. You send the Bitcoin to an escrow and then he sends you the miner. You confirm that the miner has reached you and then you tell the escrow to release the funds.

How do we both agree on someone we can trust though.

You use someone trusted from here, like OgNasty. The list is here;
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855778.0

There are also actual escrow services in offices, but that sound a bit silly. You're probably better off turning the money into FIAT and buying with credit card or whatever. Beware though Ebay tend to be 50-100% overpriced.

I am finding it hard to get one in europe though so will have to pay a bit extra to get one over here, unless you know any decent place to get one in europe.

An issue i have at the moment is that i want to buy an antminer off someone on eBay. He says he will accept Bitcoin. If i send him the bitcoin then what security have i that he will send me the antminer to me. There is no protection yet which is a pretty big problem.

If you deal with him directly with bitcoin so you are not buying now from ebay and he might scam you so take care and ask him to accept escrow to be in the safe side

Yes thats what i am worried about.

Hi there, i am looking to buy a Antminer off ebay. I contacted the guy and he said he had a few to sell and said i could pay by BTC if i preferred. My question is how do i send safely. If i send to his address what is stopping him from just keeping the bitcoin and not sending. So my question is how do i protect myself.
Thanks
Niall

confirmation time.

As it gets more popular though expect this to drop.

Security is also a big issue. You cannot expect the normal person on the street to be able to keep their coins safe. Its too hard for them.

why not? because they don't know how to create a secure offline cold storage? it's not hard at all. it's just a matter of saving your wallet file to a thumb drive. it also doesn't require you a lot effort to create a paper wallet. if you meant something else, please explain.

Yes its easy for us on here because by the fact that we are on here we all pretty technical, but i could not imagine trying to explain it to my mother or father and expect them to understand.

29  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why did you come to Bitcointalk? on: December 02, 2015, 08:42:40 PM
I came because i have an interest in bitcoin and i have decided to write my thesis on the viability of mining for bitcoin in my country. So coming here has already giving me a good feel for what is going on and people are very friendly and quick to help although i have had one person try to scam me but there are always a few bad apples in the group.

I am confused. Does anyone know whats going on with the price.

HELLO!

i know where price is going at all times what would you like to know?

Should i buy buy buy or sell sell sell. In fairness its all pretty exciting, I have a lot of shares in J&J and the price hardly ever moves so the volatility of Bitcoin is great to watch.

you should hodl hodl hodl.

price is due to test 333, this will prove to be unbreakable support and then market will gain confidence, pop back up and start to demolish resistance at 380, and then head for 500 where we will briefly bounce violently between 400-500 untill mainstream media picks up on the story and they have "experts" come on TV setting price targets of 10K+. Immediately after the stunning and very convincing mass media hype price doubles over night, the world takes notice 2 weeks later we are at 10K+ and experts now predict the end of the FIAT by 2020, the world GOES NUTS, gramma dump her 401K's,  China lifts its ban on bitcoin, we are at 32,000$ and climbing fast, Some kid in his basement creates a new type of digital currency, and everything start over again.

Love it, so you are saying wait till it hits 32,000 dollars then sell.

Im telling you Perez is going to buy Neymar,
just dont tell me its not possible , same he did with Figo.

Madrid were doing better than barca at the time of that move. There is no way neymar would want to leave Suarez and Messi. They will win everything. No amount of money will move him.

I now own one bitcoin in my coinbase wallet. It feels good. I am not sure why it feels so good but it does. I have a good feeling about Bitcoin. I am already up 20 euro after today. What could possibly go wrong. Grin

What is your technique to hav that in 1 day, please teach us haha Smiley

Took me a while to get there. It wasn't just one day. I just went over 1.00 on that day.

Thanks for all the help so far guys. I plan just to keep my bitcoin for a year at least and see how things are then. Would i be better off moving to a paper wallet or just keep it in electrum.

This is the same as the old roulette trick of backing black until it comes up and when it does change to red. Every time it does not come up you double your bet. They will not let you do it in a real casino and if you try it online you get crazy averages. I got 13 blacks in a row one time.

Is it safe to keep all of my assets in Bitcoins? And how Department for Combating Economic Crimes, can affect my account?  What permissions they need , to freeze all my money ?

I'm not sure what you mean by "safe" , If you mean storing so no one really finds out about them then yes most likely you can do that . But if you mean selling all and buy BTC instead then... no one can be sure about that , price can decrease with time and can increase .. It all depends on many factors such Miners wanting to continue mining (If they see profit) , Supply-demand etc ...
Bitcoin cannot be frozen , and if you hide them I don't see how they will find out about them honestly .

Just want to hide some money. And I dont see, how I can get Bitcoins anonymously.

If it only costs you that to clean your money then you are getting off very lightly. Why not put it in the wifes or kids names

First of all , you shouldn't use exchanges (at least not Centralized one) that asks you for ID , passport and other personal information's .
You can search for someone to trade with on "Currency exchange" section (depends what are the payment methods you have) and that's it , who can know what the transaction was for ? unlike buying from an exchange .
Or you can use LocalBitcoins and try to find someone to meet him face to face (in your country/city) and you buy BTC against cash.

Not sure it would be easy to find the person or website that is willing to sell me a Bitcoin in the amount of more than $ 600,000. And, who also want to do it anonymously.

yeah that would be hard. why not find several people to transaction with and buy bitcoin in small amount, it will take long but aleast you wont reveal youre
identity.

Thank you for the idea , but it is difficult to find 500 -1000 people willing to meet with me personally, and as I'm sure the price will be different and in the end I lose 7-10% of my assets.
