81  Economy / Speculation / Re: Finra Alert says bitcoin more than a bit risky on: March 11, 2014, 07:07:49 PM
New York’s Superintendent of Financial Services, Benjamin M. Lawsky, has issued a public order that confirms the state is now accepting applications for digital currency exchanges. You can find article in Bitcoin Discussion under Bitcoin news every day latest post. This will be a leap forward. Now we are talking "Consumer Protection". People are used to keeping currency in a bank this will serve that purpose. Exchanges you can trust that changes everything and leads to more people adopting BTC.
82  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2014 is going to be a GOOD year for bitcoin they said... on: March 11, 2014, 06:39:11 PM
if you aren't the sole holder of your own bitcoin (private keys) then you don't own any.

Lets just make this saying a sticky at the top of BitCoin Discussion. Sorry to hear your one the many who's funds were stolen by MtGox.
83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there any Bitcoin emergency plans? Migration to BTC 2.0? on: March 11, 2014, 06:31:44 PM
Bitcoin may one day fail or be replaced with a better way what ever that is. The concept though is here to stay the old saying is "The first one through the wall always gets bloody". This is the best most effective form of rebellion against a government I've ever seen.
84  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HOLY SHIT! Mt.Gox returned my Bitcoins and funds today! on: March 11, 2014, 06:20:20 PM

87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TwoBitIdiots backs up from revealing the damaging documents about TBF on: March 10, 2014, 04:04:07 PM
OP please press the edit button of the first post and change the title to '.. backs away from.."

Agreed "Backs Up" could easily be misinterpreted.
88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How I Got Some Of My Friends To Invest In Bitcoin on: March 10, 2014, 03:57:50 PM
First I helped them set up a Blockchain.info wallet, sync with their phone, and sent them a few millibits. They said "That's cool, but what's the point?" Later when we went out to dinner and drinks, when it came time to pay the bill, I said "Sorry guys, I don't have enough cash. How about you cover me and I will settle with you in bitcoin?" They asked what they can do with bitcoin. I told them to go to Gyft.com and buy something from Amazon. "OK, fine." Two new bitcoin users.

That is great to hear not only did you get them interested but got them to use it that's progress. My face is permanently blue from trying to convince people and now with the recent news I have egg on it too. Your story made my day .
89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We are losing Bitcoin.Bitcoin had its 15 minutes of fame We are losing our dream on: March 09, 2014, 05:03:58 PM
Math-based currencies are here to stay.  Whether Bitcoin will be a part of it or not, remains to be seen.  You make the very point I made many months ago, how can you seek mass adoption, while seeking to be completely disconnected from the masses?   Huh  Me thinks it won't work but at least the tech is here so regardless, the world is still moving toward a better financial place.

Bitcoin is good enough and secure enough, it still needs some active development though. What truly is required is strong infrastructure which is truly lacking

To the person not involved with BTC it's a tough sell all they hear are the horror stories. It's easy for the media to manipulate those folks even with their half ass reporting. If the Winklvoss twins opened an exchange in US stating your $ and BTC are safe and all members funds are in a separate account. It should get more regular people and businesses to adopt the concept. Maybe not but an Exchange you can trust would be a 1st people are just used to keeping $ in an account.

91  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have we hit a dead zone? on: March 08, 2014, 07:16:10 PM
Have we hit a dead period it seems like everything is quite on all crypto currencies all of them seem to be going down on the trading sites. Any idea if they will increase if so when?

not sure how closely you follow the news, but things have been the exact opposite of quiet recently.

multiple exchanges hacked
companies going out of business
ceo's of exchanges killing themselves
companies stopping services in america
the real fake real satoshi nakamoto found
tbi calling for foundation members to step down or on monday he is leaking damaging documents to the press

Exactly there's a whirlwind of shit going on right now. It's gonna get worse when we finally get an official account of what really happened @Gox . Trying to oust Satoshi made me think...Not now I really don't need this right now.
92  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: When did you first hear about bitcoin and when will the masses support us? on: March 08, 2014, 06:43:03 PM
Early spring 2012 listening to Donk Down radio Bryan "The Icon" Micon.
93  Economy / Speculation / Re: Peter R's theory on the collapse of MtGox and its effect on the price of bitcoin on: March 07, 2014, 10:02:57 PM
This has to be the best explanation I've seen. Excellent article well done Peter R.

A seat on the Virgin Galactic next to the Winklvi.
95  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto's P2P foundation profile makes a reply on: March 07, 2014, 04:51:59 PM
Just saw Dorian did an interview and CNBC aired a few seconds of it. He denies having anything to do with BTC and that the name Satoshi Nakamoto is probably fake.
96  Other / Off-topic / Re: Mark Karpeles revealed Satoshi Nakamoto's identity on: March 06, 2014, 11:32:25 PM
So many idiot newbies posting pointless threads this site is all the sudden full of them.
97  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will hit $1000 by this Friday (07-03-2014) on: March 05, 2014, 04:51:18 PM
If your gonna speculate a price out of thin air with nothing to back it what's the point?
98  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why haven't the prices gone back to 750-800+ yet? on: March 02, 2014, 02:27:16 PM
Gox fiasco is over and should quiet the panick storm for now.  Yellen said bitcoin is not touchable.  News of possible exchanges (NY).  People buying miners like crazy to add to the hashrate.  Mobile apps dedicated to the blockchain.  Overstock accepts btc.

What else do we need for the prices to go back to what I believe is normal (750-800+)?

Thanks for the option We need OP to stop making posts/polls. Seriously though with so much uncertainty about MtGox it's a wait and see situation it's far from over.
