1041  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Storj - Decentralized Storage on: August 09, 2014, 05:10:54 AM
Still don't understand how Storj could compete with maidsafe...

I thought they were different:
MaidSafe - decentralized internet (big picture)
Storj - decentralized storage. (a component of the big picture)

This is a clusterfuck of a distribution. I will be surprised if it gets adopted well. The community here does not look kindly to botched distributions, unless it is technically very innovative.

Yeah that sums it up.

is that a new term? gee.
1043  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: August 09, 2014, 03:15:18 AM
There are more than 48,000 on the waiting list atm. That will indeed take weeks before you get credited if they are screening each account one by one.

Current stats: https://www.stellar.org/stats/

yeah , that is amazing .... 48'000 wallet  in less 2 days xd

about 100K from 30 July to 6 Aug 2014. crazy.

I read all your considerations (flames apart) and I will take everything into account for the imminent upgrade.

any ETA for the upgrade?
1045  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: August 07, 2014, 06:17:54 AM
Yup, just think about this:
A lot of people, that mostly doesn't understand cryptocurrencies, are going to get some XXX coins (Stellars)
They have probably heard that "someone" has become rich with this kind of shit (Bitcoin)
They will find they their Stellars value is no more than $10 o likely.

How many of them will want to sell their Stellars just to get only $10!?
My guess is that they will start to hoard them ...

correct, or even they will buy more, if 100,000 facebook users buy 20 usd worth.. thats like 2000 btcs.

So, guess we already have a competitor for btc..

heard from a friend, do you agree?

Bitcoin is 1.0
Stellar is 1.5
NEM is 2.0

1046  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: August 06, 2014, 03:02:06 PM
Why do you think this isn't being added by exchanges?

There are already 2 bigger exchanges for it.

Justcoin.com and the thai one.

bx.in.th (thai)
btc38.com (china)

* apologies. it was btc38

1047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: August 06, 2014, 03:01:30 PM
probably it means the .001%  of the avalaible supply of BTC at that time (snapshot).
Actually there are 13,105,025 (coinmarketcap data) so the 0,001% is 131,05. With that amount of btc you would get 190k stellars, and with 0.001 btc you would get 1,45 stellar in this scenario.

You switched from american commas to European commas half way through your post.

And then back again and then again.

EU -> EU -> USD -> EU -> EU -> US

LOL! I laughed harder than I should have had with this. I still get comments for using the commas that are most mommon here in Eurpe as well but this was over the top. :')

I always get confused when I shop at US and EU sites....all this american commas to European commas.

123,817 Facebook auths in the past 4-5 days? wow

That's the power of facebook, even some noobs in facebook that have no idea what stellar was and know nothing about crypto world, were 'forced' to register and sent their coins to someone else

Yes but you have to give it to stellar, they probably reached more people in the few days than bitcoin attracted in the last 30 days!

true. it was pretty viral and they got a lot of traction. it was really awesome.

Have well established Bitcoin-OTC trust or happy to do escrow (seller pays fee).

PM if interested.

Thanks

Coinex have become the first Stellar gateway, complete with interest payments on USD and NZD balances!  https://www.coinex.co.nz/

They have been a Ripple gateway for a while and I have used them - they are pretty good.

thanks for the tip on Coinex, looks like they are a legal company in N.Zealand.

I paid minersource on 12/2/13 order #400 for 2 X1's, which ultimately turned into #2434A on their new system... i have yet to get any tracking info.. Communication with minersource has been excellent in the past, but i havent been keeping up with this in the last few weeks.. are we still this far behind?

Almost August and no updates from BA, really bad.
