Used to live in Cashmere just west of Wenatchee on Hwy 2. Just wondering what the building used to be cause it looks like a fruit warehouse or juice plant that went out of business.

Got my X1's yesterday. All set up and running...so far so good. Quick question for anyone who ordered from Minersource. When I was setting up my pools I noticed that Minersource had been testing my miners on BTC Guild. So just wondering how long they were mining before they got shipped out.

I saw in a recent thread about how it would take forever to get bitcoin to be accepted at the pumps of gas stations due to most pumps not having internet access. It got me thinking, what if instead of a bitcoin credit card styled solution, there was a QR code at the pump with a wallet address, sending BTC to that QR through your wallet address would notify a server inside the store and turn the pump on for the amount of bitcoin you sent?
What if you wanted to pump until your gas was full, would there be a way for the pump to check the amount available before you pumped, so that it could pull it afterward?
I think a lot of pumps have internet access... I am assuming that is how you are able to currently stick your credit/debit card directly into the pump machine (rather than having to walk into the gas station itself). I'm sure a one of those bitcoin debit cards would solve this problem and allow people to purchase gas with BTC, but getting a Gasoline Company to accept BTC themselves is a different beast entirely... No the dispenser does not do any transactions of any kind. The POS handles all the credit/debit transactions. All the card reader does is just that...it reads the card, sends the data to the POS and then waits for authorization. |

There are pumps in service that are intelligent enough to accept QR codes (like Dresser Wayne & Gilbarco)... Mobile uses this type of technology for their speed pass system... several offer loyalty programs that are fairly sophisticated...there are also pumps that can be retrofitted with a side box for passing payment codes to the POS system.
Besides the cost and durability challenges you have to deal with proprietary POS systems (the largest being RUBY)... these systems have to be able to map all types of transactions that are unique to the petroleum industry (ie underground fuel storage inventories, fuel shrink, agriculture tax discounts etc).... hence very little competition.
If the demand is large enough it will force their hand... it took 8 years for Ruby to come out with an upgraded model...
I wouldn't count on the Petroleum fat cats to be early adapters.
btw, never blame a convenience store for the cost of gas... it is so competitive that they are lucky if they make 10 cents on a gallon (after numerous taxes)
10 cents is lucky...most of the stations here in WA only make about 5 cents. Plus gas is the lowest money making item a store sells. The fuel is just an added convenience. Cigarettes and beer the 1 and 2 money making items. I used to work on Gilbarco and Tokheim/GASBOY (and there are not called pumps anymore as they do not actually "pump", but "dispense" fuel...as why they are now called dispensers) dispensers and Gilbarco used to have color displays on the CRINDS. It also had the ability to offer internet via the G-Site but it really never took off. The RUBY console which is made by Verifone is a generic console. It has proprietary software dependent to the station branding (TEXACO, SHELL, CONOCO...etc) but you can load it with generic software. |

Thanks to Black Arrow I've lost thousands in this venture and I'm no longer in the mining business.
If you have been using block eruptors and GPUs then you haven't actually been in the mining business for a while. Like he said...... |

Try resetting it to default. I had to reset my last S1 three times before it came up. Reset it. Cycle the power and see if it comes up.

I've been getting high stales (26566) , high duplicates (8753), and high low difficulty (2458). Something is very wrong

It's almost a done deal at this point. Bitmain is firm on not giving me any refund, only replacement unit to be shipped tomorrow along with 3 coupons x 0.05 valid for 15 days. I'm giving up my fight for refund. I just want to resolve this, cut my loss as soon as possible, as each day my loss mounts bigger and bigger.
At least Bitmain has responded quickly AFTER UPS issued the loss claim.
Personally i would have insisted in a refund, cause you have already lost a lot of time that won't help in your ROI I would rather they gave refund, but they won't budge. Frankly, I need to cut my losses at this point. Good luck getting any refund from UPS. My dad shipped some speakers and they got all smashed up. He insured them and UPS told him it was not packed correctly so he would not get his money back. |

The Grand Coulee Dam in Washington is the largest hydroelectric power producer in the United States. Most commercial/industrial rates range anywhere from .049 to .06 kWh. Gotta love Washington...we have the highest minimum wage being $9.32 and some of the cheapest power.

Beware of buying miners from others. I have a half working single that I bought from a friend and BFL is being iffy about it. Got a email from support saying that they don't show me ordering any singles from them. I explained that I got it from a friend and got the same response. I think there like 45 cfm ... I wouldn't worry bout it too much if you leave the covers off the temps will go down. |

Swapped out the fans with some old 120mm coolermaster fans. It is so quite now. Temps range from 68 to 72c.

If your in the US try one of the kits from Harbor Freight. Its like $150 for a 45 watt kit. Add some deep cycle golf cart batteries and a inverter. Im going to try it out this weekend. I have a BFL jally and a netbook that draws a little over 38 watts.
