Consider the efficiency of these units 70-75%?   and you can calculate power savings 6 months or a year down the road if you are using to mine btc 24 hours a day.

Ive not used that specific unit but I haven't come across a server grade psu made in the last 3-5 years that has been below 88% efficiency personally.

As we know psu highest efficiency is most likely at 50% load and not as efficient at 20% or 100% load.

You will notice the majority is at Bronze 85% and less.  And at lower load 20% or highest load 100% Brozne 85 is only about 81-82%

This is not even including the many many server psu on the market that dont even have a 80 Plus rating (probably Chinese, or fake) :  so they are much less and into the 70% range obviously.

You are correct I tested my Dell server PSUs and they use 860-870watts per 2 S1s at the wall. This is the exact same as my thermaltake bronze PSU. My EVGA and Corsair golds use exactly 800watts at the wall for the same 2 miners. Doing the math the difference per month in electricity would take a long time to offset the initial savings savings of buying a server PSU.

The 60 watts savings for the Gold psu per day at .16 per kwh running 24/7 for a year would save $84

For platinum about $125 a year.

Fixed I meant to say my Platinums use 400watts per overclocked S1 at the wall. Also, buy used Platinum PSUs on ebay for cheap

  same results as you the dell servers are power hogs compared to any good platinum psu.   or this one it is gold but runs 3 ants a freq 393.

on sale for 195 at amazon with a 15 dollar rebate form.  so 180 to run 3 ants.

it pulls 1215 watts   if you run 3 ants at 393 freq just about 600gh.

the dells would do more then 1290.    the dells have a real shock issue.  as wires are more exposed.  the dells are real bleeping loud.

Wow, $170 for a 860 watt PSU.  Spend $240 and get a 1300 that can drive 3x OCd S1s.  Pulls about 1025W at the wall @ 115V.  I used three of these for my 9 S1s.

Well, I couldn't wait another day, so I emailed Bitmain asking to get my BTC back. It cost 0.554 BTC when I ordered it on April 30. I don't want a replacement unit because I've already lost 2 weeks of mining as a result of UPS losing it. Even if Bitmain offers me a coupon to cover the price difference, I don't see any point in getting another S1.

Let's see if Bitmain comes through for me.

    this would mean you got 2 for a total of 0.854btc.

Yes, sad but it's true, they just won't refund. It looks like I will be getting a replacement S1, instead of 0.554 BTC. As for asking for another S1 for 0.3 btc, I just don't NEED or WANT another S1. I've already maxed out. Even the replacement unit is questionable at my place, I may have to sell it. Because UPS lost it, I will be out at leat 0.1 btc, assuming I can sell the coming replacement S1 for 0.4 btc, which may not be realistic.

So, your point is that I should just take whatever they offer?

    I am not sure what his point is. but the only refunds I have seen them give were if someone overpaid.

 Lets say you sent .6 btc for a .5 btc machine.
 I have not read of many refunds for a problem like yours.  The offer they gave you is not that good.

 Ask them for the replacement and a second one for .3 btc  

Then list the two for .8btc  your loss will be less.  but I hear your compliant and have some sympathy as I got a dud back in feb.

 if it were not for bobsag3 giving me a replacement  up front then waiting for me to send him a the dud. the exact same thing would have happened to me.

If UPS loses a delivery, how do they reimburse Bitmain? I guess it depends on how Bitmain insures the shipment, if at all. I know they send via UPS World Saver but I'm sure insurance is optional. Does UPS have an automatic minimum insurance included??? I don't know.

It's almost a done deal at this point. Bitmain is firm on not giving me any refund, only replacement unit to be shipped tomorrow along with 3 coupons x 0.05 valid for 15 days. I'm giving up my fight for refund. I just want to resolve this, cut my loss as soon as possible, as each day my loss mounts bigger and bigger.

At least Bitmain has responded quickly AFTER UPS issued the loss claim.

Bitmain responded by offering me a replacement S1 and 3 x 0.05 coupons on May 17th/18th, 2014.

That is great customer service. You got same day turnaround. The moment UPS called it quits they replaced the unit and offered you transferable coupons. Nowhere on their website do they offer refunds. Nowhere on their website they guarantee profit margins. This is the chance you take when you order anything that will be shipped. Next time buy one from a retail store.

Personally i would have insisted in a refund, cause you have already lost a lot of time that won't help in your ROI
