Nice idea.  What sort of rates are you going to offer on virtual goods?  You are surely not going to know what the value of all goods from all games etc are?

Why do you need to buy the account?  Is Pirate no longer issuing accounts?
1143  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you generate your Bitcoins? on: September 06, 2012, 07:37:12 PM
I am investing in Pyramining.  See signature for details.  I let my coins generate coins for me!!
1144  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What Happens To Lost Bitcoins? on: September 06, 2012, 07:34:42 PM
Argh, I have done exactly this. Accidentally transferred coins to a wallet I don't have access too :/

Many thanks!
1145  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think that there is something funny about BFL's new ASIC on: September 06, 2012, 07:32:38 PM
BFL have proved they are a serious company, shipping physical product and not a scam.  the only thing they have been reluctant to reveal is delivery dates etc, probably due to development issues.  When they first started accepting preorders, they probably had not developed the tech, but hopefully by now they have and its a question of asthetics etc?!  After all, they are due to start shipping in 4 weeks!
1146  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do people play satoshidice? on: September 06, 2012, 07:29:49 PM
Its the same as any gambling.  You will lose in the end, its just a question of how long it takes you.  The house always wins, (otherwise the % edge would be meaningless).

This all sounds so complicated, especially running a different OS if you are on windows.  Why not just use Armory?  I am not trying to sell it, I just want someone to tell me if I have missed an obvious vulnerability and it is not as safe as I thought?

He may not be trying to scam you but many others are.  Use an exchange.  Its not worth the risk!
1152  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Moneybookers closed my account!!!!!!!! Anti-Bitcoin policy !!!! 2-12-2012 on: September 05, 2012, 08:10:36 PM
Paypal has always been a nightmare in my book.  They regularly froze my account when I was selling a lot on e-bay and accused me of selling fake DVDs when I provided receipts etc and all other paperwork they requested.  They kept the cash frozen for over 6 months and refused to close my account afterwards stating that they could not because it was frozen.

As for Money bookers, they sold my e-mail address to numerous gambling sites etc.  I set up the address purely for Moneybookers and within 2 weeks I was getting loads of spam, some of it very suspicious.  I stopped using them as I dont believe that a financial insitution should sell my personal details.

Bitcoin is definately the way forward.

Speak to your bank.  They should be able to reverse the transaction.

I am not sure about the US, but in the UK we have a small claims court where you can take someone who owes less than £5k.  You can use a solicitor if you want but cannot recover legal costs, so most people dont bother.  You present your case to the judge and he can make the other party pay up.  You may have something similar.

I have a couple of coins in my mobile wallet, more in my PC online wallet and the majority in my offline wallet accessed via armory.  This is a brilliant wallet that allows paper back ups and true offline operation, without risking anything in that wallet (and no, I have no affiliation with Armory- I just like the app).

You have to be careful and do your research.  Even then, it pays to not put all your eggs in one basket (no matter how good the interest rate that basket is offering)!

Take a look at what is being offered and think is it realistic.  If the proposal doesnt sound realistic it probably isnt.

If this is a pirate enterprise, how is it still functioning?  and why are people still using it?  I suppose greed is still stronger than fear!

It is not solely pirate.  A gentleman by the handle of Zux0r handles most of the administration, and does a damn good job.

As for why we use it?  It is an amazing operational tool for managing large farms.  I utilize it to monitor and manage my 30+ miners, and it makes the task of re-directing power to different pools a snap.  The public work aspect is simply a bonus, and some do not even bother with it.

There is a huge difference between lending a guys 100's of thousands of BTC on nothing but a prayer, and utilizing a good service that you can withdraw from instantly if you choose.

I can understand how it may be useful, however, your arguement is that because its run by a known thief and some other guys, the other non thiefs make it ok!  Seems a little mad to me.

And as for the 'withdraw instantly' thing, I seem to remember Pirate saying something else about his 'investment fund'!
1160  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: The sorry and thank you Pirateat40 thread on: September 04, 2012, 09:00:45 PM
Thank you Pirate for demonstrating the best way to run a Ponzi and to part willing volunteers from their coins!
