141  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: bASIC BTC refunds list - v2.0 on: March 23, 2013, 01:33:15 PM
Orders # 89x and 163x still not refunded.
142  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: bASIC BTC refunds list - v2.0 on: March 21, 2013, 01:05:09 AM
this is starting to get really painful. BTC just hit $53 each... Tom is clearly waiting for the price to keep going up before paying out remaining BTC refunds. I submitted by request for refund over 2 months ago. The 244 BTC I paid will get returned to me in the form of just over 50 BTC even if he refunded me now. So I'm just supposed to take a loss of $10,000+ while not having access to my funds for half a year? This is unacceptable. I only live 4 hours away from where Tom supposedly lives, I'm really tempted to drive up there.

To start off my reply I am going to say that I too had units pre-ordered. 5 of them.
As Tom has stated the website you purchased the bASIC units from displayed prices in USD. Since that is the case when you paid in bitoins you take the price of the unit divided in USD by the market price of BTC at the time of purchase. That determines how many bitoins you paid. Just because Tom didn't deliver a product doesn't mean you entitled to a refund worth over ten grand. Had tom actually shipped the bASIC product and then you decided you wanted a refund do you really expect him to take a $10,000.00 loss? Before you decide to rant and rave on the forums you should put yourself in his shoes and really think if you ran this project and you had failed and you wanted to make things right would you refund person X the amount they paid in BTC or USD?

You bought a product in USD with bitcoins. Therefore you will get the same amount in USD back. The fact that Tom is even trying to refund his customers is good for the bitcoin community.

You misunderstand. I don't want a refund of my full 244 BTC back at $64/btc, I want what was owed to me in BTC when I requested my refund over 2 months ago. BTC was at $28 when I requested a refund. People with orders later than mine who paid in BTC have already gotten a refund; there is no excuse for the prolonged wait I've had to go through.

145  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: LEGAL COURSE of ACTION Discussion --- bASIC / BitcoinASIC on: March 12, 2013, 08:34:37 AM
would love to see my refund cablepair. you stated in an email to me that it would be a friday or the friday after from the date of that email, and 2 fridays have passed since then. the ones who are pissed are people like me who paid you in bitcoin because we had faith in you. i even went so far as to support you and dave on your own btcfpga forums, telling people that bitching you out was a bad idea and isn't helpful to anyone; now i can see i was the idiot for believing in you. the btc i paid you for 3 of your bASIC's would now be worth over $10,000, and you can't even refund me the $2,759.97 i'm owed.

to the people who believe tom had kept the btc from the beginning of preorders, this is highly unlikely, the payment method used at the btcfpga website was bitpay which, if i'm not mistaken, immediately pays off the merchant in USD, not BTC, so tom received USD.  what is extremely likely however, is that tom bought a bunch of coins and continues to mine them as refunds start to go out, and now he's decided to sit on them as value has more than doubled since the start of refunds, so that he doesn't have to pay out as much. my 250ish BTC will probably be more like 50 BTC when and if the refund actually happens, and i'm more inclined to believe that tom is doing this on purpose. tom, you have used up your 'benefit of the doubt' pass. send my refund for orders #894 and #1638 to 1CYZtxqNFNJ4x7RGDCohro3PQuFhV5e9fi

it would cost me less than what you owe me to hire a private investigator and find out where you live. don't make me resort to measures that we'll both regret.
146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Most Expensive Thing You Bought With Bitcoin? on: February 27, 2013, 10:35:52 AM
244 BTC  on bASIC's that never materialized Sad

Even if I got the refund of $2,759, I'd be out a loss of just over $5k at current Bitcoin price.
147  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: LEGAL COURSE of ACTION Discussion --- bASIC / BitcoinASIC on: February 18, 2013, 01:07:11 AM
Does anybody have an address for Tom? I have some free time this week, maybe a road trip is in order.
148  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: LEGAL COURSE of ACTION Discussion --- bASIC / BitcoinASIC on: February 16, 2013, 03:40:27 AM
Still awaiting a refund on orders #894 and #1638.
Originally paid approximately 250 BTC.  Have screenshots of the Bitpay page where payment was confirmed.
I live in northern Virginia. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to speed up the refund process.
149  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: LEGAL COURSE of ACTION Discussion --- bASIC / BitcoinASIC on: February 12, 2013, 09:38:41 PM
Tom owes me $2,759.97. (2 full bASICs and 1 half bASIC)

I do have screenshots of the Bitpay payments made to BTCFPGA.

I have my pitchfork and torch ready to go.
150  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The bASIC Refund Tracking Thread on: February 11, 2013, 08:25:27 PM
I was finally able to login to btcfpga after remembering my 19 character email password lol Sad
Please change my status on the list to:  Payment Address Requested

Although I've already emailed both Tom and Dave an address to send refunds to. Dave replied saying he's no longer involved in the project at all, and no response from Tom.

Who's ready to bust out some pitchforks and torches?

May as well add the bASIC to this list, I got scammed out of roughly ~230 BTC which is a big chunk of money for me, especially since BTC value has doubled since I placed the order.
152  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Drama from BitcoinASIC on: February 08, 2013, 04:10:51 AM
Tom owes me $5,000 worth of BTC. In certain parts of the world, even in the USA, people get killed over less. Just saying. Tom, choose your next course of action wisely.
153  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Have you read https://www.bitcoinasic.net/ today? on: February 01, 2013, 08:43:05 AM
If BTC refunds don't start soon we might have to storm the castle. anybody got spare pitchforks and torches?

155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Over an hour and no confirmations...? on: January 25, 2013, 02:36:49 AM
I didn't, but it also didn't prompt me to give one.
156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Over an hour and no confirmations...? on: January 25, 2013, 02:21:11 AM
I sent a payment 1 hour and 13 minutes ago to somebody. No confirmations so my purchase hasn't gone through. I received a payment earlier at 4:26PM eastern standard time and it's now 9:20PM and there are only 25 confirmations on it. Is something wrong with the network...? surely these numbers can't be normal.
157  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The bASIC Refund Tracking Thread on: January 24, 2013, 05:10:13 PM
I paid for 3 bASIC's with BTC, and I want the exact same amount of BTC I paid for them. It's bad enough that my money was inaccessible for 4 months. So I'm going to lose 100+ BTC because I placed a pre-order with Tom...? That's fucked... so fucked...
158  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need expert opinion on a GPU on: January 14, 2013, 03:12:37 AM
5970's are the most energy efficient GPU's for mining.  I can refer you to some people who'd sell these and/or some 5xxx series and 6xxx if you want.

P.S. BAMT (Big A Miner Thing) is a good usb sized OS for mining.

Uhh, 7970 > 5970 for power efficiency

7970 pushes 650mh/s @ 200w on average
5970 pushes 750mh/s @ 275w on average

not rocket science to determine energy efficiency here.
