Right now demand is keeping up with the supply. Hence the stability.
Resolve the block issue and the demand will be greater than the current supply.
Cut the supply in half and the demand will be far greater than the supply.
Face reality that there are not that many Bitcoin left to enter circulation, and demand will skyrocket.

I agree that the halving will create a self perpetuating snowball effect from the buying pressure.

Another word for "self perpetuating snowball effect" is "bubble". Bubbles pop.

Agreed and as we know if the fundamentals are tight they find a floor stabilize and moon again with higher lows and higher highs until the next halving.

the higher low is what matter, before the first having the bottom was 0.1-1? after the first halving was 12? now before the second halving is 440, so after this second halving it will probably higher(even 10x)

this is my logical conclusion

I agree that the halving will create a self perpetuating snowball effect from the buying pressure. Im being liberal with some assumptions but presently there are 3600 BTC mined per day. At a stable price of $450 per BTC that's $1,620,000 that's entering into BTC to maintain the price.
If the creation of new coins is cut in half to 1800 and $1,620,000 is still entering the market its inevitable the price will rise. The snowball will grow bigger as BTC gets more mainstream media attention and FOMO starts to take hold of the masses.

Its funny when I talk to common folk today about BTC the 1st they ask "is bitcoin still around?" 2-3 years ago it was "whats bitcoin?"
Point being almost everyone knows what bitcoin is or has heard about it but we didn't have the on ramps we have today. When the media hype starts it will be much easier for average folk to buy in. Once they get the taste of BTC it will be a slippery slope into the altcoin world.

Definitely exciting times ahead.

SYNCING PROBLEMS WITH the NEW WALLET

The old wallet is syncing perfectly. However, the new wallet, v2.4.0.0-TEK, isn't (I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 on an Acer i5 machine).

I'd like to echo others who have reported syncing problems with new wallet and getting this warning message:

"WARNING: Invalid checkpoint found! Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or notify developers."

Developers, please take note!

I have the same issue. It was running fine and even staked a bit then it started to lose sync and after a restart the checkpoint error message appeared. Now after several restarts it does not sync and the checkpoint error message is continuous.

@Gifted, I want to thank you for this post. I've been looking into starting a faucet and your information has been invaluable.

I looked at your file for starting a Xapo faucet, can this be installed on a hosting service like bluehost or hostgator or does it have to be on a server like AWS?
AWS seems like it will be an extra expense and that would be against your suggestion to make a profit 1st before spending any money on it. Xapo seems to be the best chance of being profitable.

I already installed faucetinabox on a subdomain and its in a iframe on a wordpress site so I can add sidebars and stuff.
Does it make sense to just run with the faucetinbox until I turn a profit then switch over to Xapo or start an additional faucet using Xapo?

Thank you for your response.

I use to think that there was a correlation between the price and PoS difficulty. The higher the the diff meant more people were staking and less coins were available for sale so price went up. That seemed to be somewhat correct when we had cryptsy/volume and it worked for me. Now not so much. Difficulty has been relatively high the last couple of weeks but the price stays low. I wish Cryptopia had more volume. Short of a big exchange adding tek I think the BTC halving is what will raise all ships.

This definitely is a great time to buy and cost average tek holdings.

Price is up. Why? Did I miss some news.
I understand the price going up on craptsy because of withdraw issues and folks dont have anything else to do with their money but its also up on cryptopia.

Any theories?

Any suggestions on how to get this wallet to load? it keeps crashing. I reinstalled 3x's with no luck. I cant get past the logo splash page keeps crashing.

This coin is dead.

Good buy indicator when this guy turns up and says a coin is dead...will be building a larger position here over next few weeks

I had the wallet running for months with an occasional crash but now I cant get it to load at all. I reinstalled it about 3x with the same result. Any suggestions?

Ok, half the BUCKS have been burned (250k GONE). The other half popped into stake when I unlocked the wallet, but I'll burn them as soon as they confirm again

getinfo will show new supply on moneysupply so you can verify the first half is, indeed, gone

250k left to burn

Thanks for the update. That might explain the 8 orphans I got 2 minutes apart.

pjcltd,
You sent me my 1078 coins aprox. 10:12 est. in two transactions. Then 15:52 est. I received another 1078 in two transactions.
I did not withdraw anything extra it was sent to me.

Do you want me to send just the extra coins or everything I received?

Howdy guys.
Received my Gorillabucks letter in the mail yesterday. synced up the wallet on my remote staking PC (Than had what I like to call a Meditation Cig break) and carefully entered the enormous Private key. Everything going smoothly so far on my end, Now I am just waiting for the gates to open on the 10th.

Feeling good about this. Keep up the work dev.

Side note. I think pulling all this MMXIV out of the wild is doing wonders for the market over the last 10 days. I kind of wish I waited until the last day to buy my Bucks so I could of keep staking in the meantime.

So did you get a thumbs up? Or is it OK to enter the key without the thumbs up? I thought the message said to wait for the thumbs up.

No sure if it is ok but when it looked like my wallet syncing was stuck I restarted it and the thumbs up message went away. I entered my key and staked a tiny amount .021903 bucks off of my a 100 buck balance.

I have a thumbs up now.

I have my letter, it arrived quick. I put the code in with one character wrong. The last character in the string and checked it so many times I gave myself some kind of mental block, but Spots is the man and has me straight.
This is legit and while no one can predict the future I assure you the past and present have and do work well.
I can't wait to see the trip uptown on the GorillaBucks ride.

If anyone needs any help let me know and get your Gbucks!

Are you on gorillastake or on a local box?

If local how do you know wallet is synced?
I've been on block 9835 for a while now with no indication of many to go or if it is synced.

I am on Gstake, but I can fire up a local client for Bucks.
I will report back.

I encrypted my client.
When I try to importprivkey it comes back with
Please enter your wallet passphrase first with walletpassphrase first (code-13)

How do I do that exactly?
Do I enter in
walletpassphrase myencryptedpassword importprivkey myprivatekey
all on one line?

Edit: Nevermine I figured it out bucks are imported.

Thanks
