141  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Restrict max hash rate for a pool on: September 25, 2013, 10:25:10 AM
- 1 million different, level-2 block chains, reward will be millionth of 25 BTC
- per minute level-2 blocks, merging to main block chain every 10 mins
 - ...

May be I'm wrong. Any thoughts?

Education not going to help. We need protocols, and make technically impossible for anyone to own more than 1% of hash power. Later this can be adjusted further down to one millionth, and one billionth, if required.

Why did you make this?

I find it silly people have projections with difficulty going to 1 trillion or more (I think the highest I have seen is 200 trillion). At a mere 300 billion difficulty all current and proposed mining devices would be operated at a significant loss (assuming $100 exchange rate & $0.10 electrical rate).  So at 1 trillion in difficulty even a Cointera rig would be converting $4 in electricity into $1 in Bitcoins.  Anyone think that is likely?   Significantly higher difficulty is going to require either more efficient hardware, a higher exchange rate, or the average cost of power for the network to decline.

Interesting numbers. We can understand that home / basement / garage based miner's time has come to an end, or will end soon. Considering a data center environment, where hosting / rent is calculated based on 'Rack unit', I am wondering how these numbers would be calculated.

Total network hashrate is still a unpredictable. Is it possible to say an investment amount (miner + hosting cost) will break even in 6 months?
145  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Restrict max hash rate for a pool on: September 21, 2013, 05:43:09 AM
If it is technically possible to restrict pool max hashrate to one hundredth of total network hashrate, then at a later point of time this can be further restricted to one thousandth, one millionth, etc.

In future, miners can try to solve a block in a agreed upon range, and be rewarded equally based on their hashrate. This way mining will become a shared task than a competition.

Surely you jest... It would just end up making BTC Guild1, BTC Guild2 etc as a way around it.

That's bad.. Sad

Any ways exist to restrict pool Max hash rate? Technically, theoretically, or through protocol..?!

Is it really possible to restrict pool max hash rate to one hundredth of total network hash rate?

This way Bitcoin can be truly distributed, and not controlled by few big entities. Also, if this could be implemented, then 51% attack will become impossible.
148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 20, 2013, 03:12:00 PM
I think, it is not always hash rates. sometimes luck also play a major (small) role in winning a block.

Is it the largest pool is winning the most blocks? at least, proportionally winning most? I don't think so. So, even if you get your miners by October, you are going to use it till next two years. by this time, total network hash rate could go up to ~100PHash.

Lets hope 22nm ASICS not going to happen in 2014.. Smiley

so, let's just relax. Cool
149  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: why not just ban any trades, 1 mbtc < $1 ?! on: September 20, 2013, 11:16:48 AM
This kind of price fixing is done for many other products too; for example eggs, etc. Idea is to match demand with supply.

Let's say it takes $200 to mine 1 BTC on average, then shouldn't there be some price protection? Like, setting minimum prices or circuit breakers, etc.

2nd payout. 1 week remaining. Cool

I'm following two group-buy orders; 3003 and 3641, paid on 11 and 15 July, respectively. Cool

Shipment by September / October, means it can be October 31st.

48 days to go. Cool
153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 12, 2013, 04:41:10 AM
May be someone who wants a quick profit only cares about ROI, but if someone wants to stay in business for long term and earn reputation will never do that.

I like, free 20% hash rate for 30 days delay scheme of cointera, and it feels better too. That's a commitment, yet we're not sure whether they deliver.

If you say September shipments then that means it may be September 30, it can never be September 1. If anyone gets their miners before October 15, then they should consider themselves lucky.

In the meantime, if there are any spike in exchange rate, say $300+. This could further delay the product, and no one knows what went wrong.
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 12, 2013, 04:21:06 AM
Instead of September shipment, preorders should be in terms of total network hash rates, like, "we'll ship before total network hash rate reaches 1PHash".

If there are any delays then like say, 10 days and total network hash rate jumped to 2PHash at that time, then 10 days loss (minus shipment time) should be paid by the vendor.

This way we know they are also willing to ship ASAP.

May be they can price miners bit higher for doing this, instead of giving users assumption of 1 month break even.

Just saying. Cool
155  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: why not just ban any trades, 1 mbtc < $1 ?! on: September 12, 2013, 03:11:09 AM
Illegal trade prices obviously go up. Now for reference people look up to exchanges, but when we have a base price that would become a reference.

I think, there must be a better way for pricing, or better way to manage units. We always don't have to follow mbtc / btc / satoshi, in exchanges, it can be a new unit like,
  m * satoshi = n * newunit

156  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: why not just ban any trades, 1 mbtc < $1 ?! on: September 12, 2013, 02:55:50 AM
IPOs will do this always, right? They start with a base price, but of course they can go down.

May be exchanges should adopt smaller units. People will surely like to buy more units, then sub units. Say, 1 btc for $200 sounds like a steep entry point, but 5 mbtc for a dollar sounds better. Now that you have 5 units, and it feels better.
157  Economy / Service Discussion / why not just ban any trades, 1 mbtc < $1 ?! on: September 12, 2013, 01:50:37 AM
Why not agree all exchanges together, and set base price for 1mbtc as $1, and not allow any trades which quote less than that?

Do you think this will stop all trades? No. Or, may be for an hour or two there won't be any trades, but I think, somehow further trades will proceed.

Is it even possible, to do so?
158  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware wallet? on: September 12, 2013, 01:43:40 AM
Yes, if $20 or less.
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 10, 2013, 04:50:25 AM
You can take your order number from your My Orders page and paste it into the order tracking search box on the main page to see when your miner is going to ship.

It just says paid... That dont tell me much. Let alone when it will be shipped... Huh

Yeah, not much details. I'm also tracking 2 group-buy orders.
160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 10, 2013, 04:36:20 AM
Hi @KNC, out of first thousand miners you make, may I know, how many of them you,

1. keep to yourself?
2. host for others?
3. ship for others?

Am I asking too much? Smiley
