281  Economy / Services / Re: [FOR HIRE] Escrow for cryptocurrency related trades on: December 30, 2016, 06:24:27 AM
Close your thread and come back when you will have done some deals over here. You can't become an escrow just like that.
282  Economy / Services / Re: WTB - hacking services - ethical on: December 30, 2016, 06:22:26 AM
One more piece of advice: "hackers" don't care if a job is "ethical"  Wink

So cliché. We're not in a movie. Not all "hackers" are bad boy hiding in their mom's basement, hacking and stealing all day. Some care if what they do is ethical or not, some don't.

for 2.5 BTC we could get a livecoin listing a a exchange with lots of volume

Only shitcoin need to pay to get listed. Exchange will add us if there is demand don't worry.
285  Local / Annonces / Re: [ANN] Byteball on: December 28, 2016, 02:13:34 PM

Don't forget to use an escrow when you trade ! Either me or yassin54, or any reputable member.

And please never relay on quotes ! Always contact the escrow yourself and they will never ask you for your bytes if you are the seller.
288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 25, 2016, 07:16:12 AM

289  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 25, 2016, 07:14:25 AM
Any info on these tiny BTC addresses that are getting a huge share:

Bug in the display on Chrome.

Developer here unfortunately opted for waaaay too complicated and "unfair" method of distribution. It would be much better if forum accounts were used in a following way:

1. One must have account older than 1 month counting from the date starting post was made.
2. One must have a certain amount of activity points, to remove inactive and unused accounts from participation.
3. Install Byteball wallet then add your Byteball address at the top of your signature (increases Byteball visibility on this forum for free!).
4. Copy profile link ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=515876 ) somewhere at byteball.org website
5. Bot would scrap data from user profile and put all valid entries into database for coin distribution.

That would solve an issue where someone gets thousands times more coins than most others. No single person here have even 100 accounts that would pass the test hence the worse case would be multiaccount owner gets less than 100 times more coins than people who have just one account. Proposed procedure is also much much easier for noobs (not total ones) to follow and claim coins.
Hopefully phase two will be modified.

It's not unfair please stop crying. With that method newbie member will feel it's unfair too. There is no 100% fair method. The one based on BTC distribution is good. So accept it.
291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 21, 2016, 11:42:37 AM
i don't know if it was discsussed before, but what about unlinking addresses? is there any option?

If i undrstood well removing some or all BTC from the linked address will unlink it.
I'm notsure.
Try it to chek if it works.

Removing the BTC will not unlink it. The address will still be linked but since there will be 0 BTC on it, it will not receive any Byteball.
292  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 20, 2016, 06:56:22 PM
30,000 BTC linked!

And there is already a 15% whale.

It was worse before. 15% is "nothing" and we still have some days left before the snapshot.

Thanks for the stats, as deisik said it would be interesting to to see how many (old) legendary users are still active here in the forum.

I would have to write a script for that. Will see later if i can.

296  Other / New forum software / Re: New rank? on: December 16, 2016, 05:15:34 PM
You're right, there's a whole generation of users that will become Legendary, and this rank will get what Sr. Member is nowadays, cool but not so much awesome.
There was really no need to quote my post back from 2015. I don't think there are a lot of legendary (yet). I'm sure that someone could run the numbers (which may be a bit difficult considering the status of the members page).

There is 1095 Legendary members. The oldest one register in 2009-12-10 (The only Legendary member from 2009 ) and the most recent one is from 2014-09-26. The number should be correct if the "Search members" - by position is working correctly (it seem to work correctly).

EDIT: More stats :

  • 2009: 1 Legendary
  • 2010: 38 Legendary - Total: 39
  • 2011: 256 Legendary - Total: 295
  • 2012: 142 Legendary - Total: 437
  • 2013: 480 Legendary - Total: 917
  • 2014: 178 Legendary - Total: 1095

When lounching ico sir

"There will be no ICO, no crowdsale." Source, page 1 of this thread.

Don't bother answering to these question. He post that just for his signature campaign.

So 35Rwwc9e2Mj7smFXJ1iXF826cMW3tqfz6x has 2578 BTC.
http://transition.byteball.org/

Looks like the top address is from an ICO
https://blockchain.info/address/35Rwwc9e2Mj7smFXJ1iXF826cMW3tqfz6x

This should be removed considering it is the same as an exchange.  Using other people's BTC to benefit.

Evidence here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1605144.msg16595419#msg16595419

I'm sure there are others as well...

It's not other people's BTC anymore. The BTC are owned by the Komodo team's. People did invest in their ICO to get KMD back. So they have used their BTC to get something else in return, it's not their BTC anymore.

No reason to ban ICO address.

And the only reason exchange address are ban it's not because it use other people's BTC but because other people than the exchange owner were able to linked the address.

ICO funds are in fact borrowed funds. ICO token is no more than acknowledgment of debt. These tokens are not earned by ICO starters, they are blown out of the air. Using ICO fund for snapshot is the same as exchange using user's money, no difference.

Those who put money in an ICO just buy tokens. That's it. It's not their fund anymore. Since when an ICO is a loan ?

No, they don't just buy tokens. ICO investors give their money in return for different promises. ICO token is an acknowledgment that its holder will get promised reward in the future. It is essentially a loan. Ok, most ICO don't fulfill their promises, but they should.

But the main point is: whom do you want to distribute bytes to? To shitty ICO scams (most of them are) or to regular users? If you don't care, fine. Few ICO will get 99% of bytes, and this will be a darn wide distribution.

The distribution is done to those who own BTC no matter who they are. If shitty ICO scams linked their address okay cool for them, they will either probably dump it rapidly and/or it will promote Byteball to their communities.

Definition of a loan : "a thing that is borrowed, especially a sum of money that is expected to be paid back with interest.". In a ICO there is no paid back and no interest.
