The government doesn't want to have an distraction for their leadership in their country because if they will let a currency that is decentralized to take over their country then they will be on a risky situation because the people will not use the fiat more often and they will just depend on the decentralized things which will make the government powerless.

I think some altcoins do have an opportunity to reach the current bitcoin level, but not much. There are some that can be quite interesting alternatives out there. Altcoin will never achieve the same bitcoin popularity.
Having such resemblance and then coping that level, this is really different but yes not impossible. If you wanna be day trading you've to be Online 24/7 to be able to Know when to lay trades. You have to take a close look at the 24hr chart and probably join telegram channels that do give signals. Yes day trading is very tough to keep up with and not the thing for people who are crypto enthusiasts. I prefer to trade at times when prices seem good to buy or sell. Otherwise I check coinmarketcap once or twice per day and keep coins on hodl. Anything that empower the individual is always controversial, just look at cryptography many countries hate that fact that the average people has now access to military grade encryption, since now a person that does not want to reveal his information can encrypt it and if does a good job then there is not a way to access that information and bitcoin is similar, bitcoin empowers people around the world and the more power people have the less power governments have over them. You just have to set yourself a rule or something to limit yourself from gambling and losing your money at the same time. I'm sure you have enough money to gamble with using bitcoin and so the only thing you need to do is just set up a certain target amount in a day that you'll only use for gambling and the rest would be for saving.
This is what I did, I set that when I gamble my rule is that I must save more than the amount that I'll gamble. It's not a perfect example to other gamblers when I play and I save nothing. I'll pursue saving than gambling and mostly if possible I'll hold the fund I use to gamble which is bitcoin. I am also against the selling of Bitcoin now but my reason is different from yours .the right time for this was when its price crossed $19,000. That was the highest value of this pump. I nearly achieve that goal however, I tend to spend it to gave a laptop. So that I made up my mind that I will never spend a little in order to fulfill my goal. Yeah this is the right thinking.
