1261  Economy / Speculation / No Crash Today. Buy your coins back (Holidays started in china) on: January 30, 2014, 04:40:26 PM
People are confident, Price is pretty much stable too, if you are thinking some big chinese whales will wake up and sell their shit load of coins in cheap today... you are damn fucking wrong.

If you have sold your coins some days ago, I feel sorry for you. Buy your coins back before everyone starts buying and price goes back to 820+ or 850+

Have a nice day.

Ps:
Spring Festival
(Jan. 31 - Feb. 6 off)

Official Public Holiday

Folks.

This whole argument is purely theoretical nonsense.

The practical reality is that there is not one single 3rd party generated key that Evil can crack with his software. The flaw in the hypothesis is the point that "it has to be a weak address".

The word "weak" here does not mean "weak" as in "not strong". It is a misnomer. By deliberately generating a "weak" address you are basically telling the software what the private key is (relatively to feeding the hacking software a random address).

Public private key encryption security is based on ** probabilities **. Please put the word "weak" out of your heads and instead consider the fact that you are drastically modifying the solution domain for the address generation algorithm. This changes the nature of the key because it impacts on the probability of solution.

The correct measure of whether a weakness has been found is being able to crack *any* address with a significant probability, not "pre selected" addresses that happen to suit your particular hack algorithm. As Evil said himself in response to my analogy with sandgrains, it's like sending 100,000 people to all the beaches looking for a blue ball. Well that works if you know they have to go to a beach, but the fact is that you don't. Evil's algorithm **assumes** this by arbitrarily picking the rendezvous points.

Watch Evil's video at 0:20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC43aOdsf4g&hd=1

He says:

my random address generator is... "just generating bitcoin addresses that are potentially weak". The word "weak" here is used as if those addresses have some kind of hackability about them. Whereas what in fact has happened is that Evil has generated addresses deliberately close to the rendezvous points, thereby "telling" the hacking software where the solution domain is. It's a bit like me telling my password cracker that my password contains the letters "t, e, w, y, s, a and r" and then saying - "hey look - it cracked it" ! Well obviously because I basically told the hacking software what the password was, it just had to re-arrange the letters.

i.e. What evil is doing is modifying the data to fit the required result. He is not finding weaknesses in bitcoin addresses, he is creating a set of locks and then creating a set of keys that fit those locks.

+1 Couldn't say better.

Code:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://bitcointalk.org/Themes/custom1/mobile.css?fin11" media="handheld, only screen and (max-width:600px)"/>

Try this one, I have seen it working here. http://responsif.terminus13.com/ but max-width in this theme was 480.
Ps: There's a good article about mobile themes.

I've seen the same font thing on Reddit. I guess it's a browser bug.

I notice that Chrome doesn't use the forum's small-screen stylesheet, which is stupid.

Well even my cell's stock browser (Android 4.2.2) doesn't use that stylesheet.
I have tried almost all browsers and so far chrome is still best as i can click on page numbers easily.

1269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: Did you actually read the entire Charlie Shrem Criminal Complaint? on: January 28, 2014, 02:44:00 PM
Read whole document. It's pretty simple.

1. Charlie Ignored his own company's AML policy and didn't notified US Govt because he was getting good gains from deals with BTCKing guy.

2. Charlie knew BTCking was selling coins on silkroad and used his company to receive cash from silkroad users, He banned BTCking's email and asked him to make a new once to continue his reselling services on silkroad. When Other co founder asked him to ban btckin, charles defended btcking and said "we make good profit from him".

Oh, great Sad Look at the PM we just received...

Hi Theymos,

We've written to you a few times privately about this. gmaxwell suggested trying this approach. :-)

We simply want to change the username of this account from 'grabhive' to 'hivewallet'. That's it! Thanks for your time!

Hello,

The username 'hivewallet' is available for purchase.
price: 0.1BTC -- with credentials exchanged immediately.
Price will rise to 0.2 by February 1
if no buyers, will transfer to open auction.

Don't worry about that, just wait for theymos, he will rename both accounts.

true...i think both have built encryption options....but i also like the idea of people not knowing my identity when i send an email, unlimited disposable address, and my own domain email.
Disposable emails are only good if email does not contains any sensitive information.

As for offshore email accounts you can try mail.ru and some others like qqmail (Chinese) and use PGP.
1273  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stop panicking and hold your bitcoins on: January 28, 2014, 02:38:57 AM
Soon all these "panic sellers" will buy back in under 600, and you will be mad you missed an opportunity to increase your BTC holding.

Just because you think something will go up, does not mean it will not go down more before then.

The only reason people start threads like these is because they didn't buy at the opportune time, and want their stash value to stay in the green.

The next opportune time will be in the next 4-5 days.

I am a daily trader mate.  Smiley I don't care about crash or keeping my stash green, I buy and sell everyday and book my profits.

Then you should be screaming "this is only the beginning" so you could buy in lower, not hold.

Or did you already buy in and hoping to cash in on a bounce?

I have sold some of my coins yesterday morning.  It's night here now.  I am holding rest of my coins and will buy more on right time..  It's not about you and me dude.  It's about not being greedy and stupid.
If everyone will start selling to buy at low rates, where do you think it will stop?

"knowingly contributing to and facilitating anonymous drug sales"

Isn't that's what everyone running TOR nodes doing too?
1278  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stop panicking and hold your bitcoins on: January 28, 2014, 01:01:04 AM
If people will hold and sell slowly as per their requirements,  we can save it from any kind of crash.
This is the type of talk that applies to a ponzi scheme or a pump and dump. How about instead we talk about how to get more merchants to use bitcoin as a payment system and how to get more new customers to actually use that option.

that type of talk is better than those fucking rumors and fud which people are spreading here.

Also the more price will go up, the more merchants will start accepting bitcoins.
No merchant likes a falling currency. So it's better if people hold or buy.
1279  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stop panicking and hold your bitcoins on: January 28, 2014, 12:51:48 AM
do not hold, shotr whilst you still can. 102% shotr interest at the moment means your profits will be leveraged.

It's not just about profits.  If everyone started thinking same btc will go down below 100$ in a day.
If people will hold and sell slowly as per their requirements,  we can save it from any kind of crash.
1280  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stop panicking and hold your bitcoins on: January 28, 2014, 12:20:51 AM
Coinbase was showing $737. I refreshed 10 mins later and it's up to $759!  Shocked
bulltraps

chinese have several days left, they have until the 31st to withdraw
jan 28, 29, 30 and 31

4 days left to trade, friday the 31st will be the last day

they will have to dump because that's also when the weekend starts

the ''pump'' we saw last weekend is/was the last real pump (from 18.5 to 22.5)

I think ltc will go to $8

All Chinese already knew that 31 is the last day of selling bitcoins on exchange sites, do you think they are stupid enough to wait for the last day to sell their bitcoins in cheap prices.  All smart  and big sellers have sold their bitcoins already
