181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / BITONOMY.COM - a social news aggregator (reddit) for the Bitcoin economy on: February 20, 2013, 05:34:29 AM
For several weeks I have been thinking about it...

I finally set up a social news aggregator a la reddit or HN for the Bitcoin economy.

Check it out at http://bitonomy.com
 Cheesy
Please use it to share and find any valuable information arround cryptocurrencies.

Any serious feedback is strongly appreciated.

Searching for a JSdev: This project ist very early stage. I have also developed a concept on how to integrate bitcoin micropayments in order to reward the sharer and the creator of the content. If any decent JSdev would like to join forces in order to make this happen please contact me!

Have fun sharing! Smiley

183  Economy / Services / Re: ★ +16GB Dropbox Storage Space for 0.5 BTC (for life) ★ on: February 18, 2013, 12:44:03 AM
Great!

1. Does it work if I already get like 15 GB free storage for 2 years by participating in this Dropbox university program?
2. Do you give discount if I only need 29 referrals instead of 32?

186  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: If cost of power is not an issue what is the best HW investment right now? on: February 14, 2013, 05:54:19 PM
Guys, thanks for your answers. But I am still not really sure about where I get the most hashing power for one USD. Only buying GPU-mining rigs does not seam like a good idea right now.

I recommend you also trying this calculator. Looks pretty neat: http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/

187  Bitcoin / Mining / If cost of power is not an issue what is the best HW investment right now? on: February 12, 2013, 04:28:25 PM
Hi there,

if the cost of power is not an issue, what would be the best investment in mining hardware right now? How do you calculate the ROI of a mining HW investment? To simplify the calculation lets assume there is a free and stable 10kW power source. How many BTCs can be made per day out of 10kW?

Options:
- buy used GPU mining rigs?
- buy FPGA rigs? New or used?
- preorder ASICS Huh

have a look at colored bitcoins. with them nested and trusted economies in the total bitcoin economy are possible (as far as i understand them).
189  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Have you heard of Litecoin? 2 FREE LITECOINS FOR SIGNING UP on: January 25, 2013, 05:49:23 AM
ok, i got it. LTCs are only efficient on CPUs? isnt that a security problem? think of the giant supercomputers consisting of thousands of CPUs and controlled by central authorities? with the evolution of the BTCspecific hardware it will be far more difficult to attack the network.

191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A novel attack against bitcoin on: January 21, 2013, 11:06:12 PM
Wrong......

you are right. but since information is a matter of encoding you could also encode illegal stuff into random code and publish an algorithm which decodes this random code... it is simply to complicated. have fun!
192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A novel attack against bitcoin on: January 21, 2013, 10:53:42 PM
What if someone were to put illegal information into the blockchain itself? Top secret information or magnet links for example.

nobody would care.

194  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: January 09, 2013, 09:28:22 PM
I want to get whitelisted.

I am since over 12 years a trusted member of several online communities and have had different roles like moderator or even admin. I know how to behave.

About BTC I know since almost 2 years. I own BTC since then. First just a few, now a bit more. I attend the monthly real-life community meetups on regular basis and people from the local BTC community know my face. I am also about starting a BTC business, just not sure yet which exactly. I have developer experience and a university degree.

We really need a new forum software. But shall it really be a "forum"?
