Trying to mine under Ubuntu 14 and getting error:
"There is no RPC client functionality in bitcoind anymore. Use the hodlcoin-cli utility instead."
Huh? It worked an hour ago, I rebuilt from source again and now this. Did something change?
And if so, how do I use hodlcoin-cli?
Edit: False alarm. I forgot the dash in front of "-genproclimit=8" in the command to start hodlcoind.
Sure was a weird error for that mistake though.

Wow, you certainly are smooth. That was like Kibo Parry the way you arrived.

any exchange Not yet. You can buy some HOdl from this site, zeewolf sold me some and it was easy.
|
|

Yeah, but I have three addresses there already. One I used to receive some coins I bought, one is the savings (HOdling) wallet and the third is where the "change" went when I did the transfer.
I'm assuming the change wallet was the original one, and that mined coins will go there, but just don't know.

Yeah. Seems like he's "moved on" to CNC routing. Sheesh, that's so 1980s. Not to worry, I know lots of geeks, just posted a msg to Facebook looking for someone with a spare PC.
Q: If I mine using the Windows wallet by clicking "Solo Mining On", what address is the coin sent to?
|
|
|
Naah, he wasn't interested. Kept going on about needing GPUs and ASICs and the cost of setting it up.
I just couldn't impress upon him that he only needed a fast CPU. Seems he already knows everything.

I have a friend who is a total gamer nut and has a bunch of superfast PCs. I've asked whether he'd like to mine some coin for me. Which is the best processor in terms of running cost per coin?
|

From a quick scan (2 hours, the threads were fairly long) it seems someone is trying to block the coin.
Is that a fair appraisal?

Thanks. More reading ...

Hey Dev,
when will you be using your new Vergedev name now that it is switched over?
i dont know, probably.. i just dont want to use a newbie account lol You could ask the bitcointalk admins to do a name change for you.

Nice concept dev! My poor old T60 laptop only gets 2H/s so I bought 250 HOdl and stored them, maturing just before Xmas. The squirrel certainly is an appropriate mascot. Assuming a linear rise in value my AU$29.33 investment should be worth a little over AU$640 by then.
I be HOdling.

Can you mine Verge using 1.3MHS Gawminers fury ? If so how to do it ?
Sure you can but once again, I'd strongly recommend the 5 chip gridseeds. I spotted someone selling eight of them for AU$100 which seems reasonable. Might be a bit if fun, although not sure how I'm going to power them all given that electricity is limited here. Being off-grid has its downfalls sometimes.

Windows 10 is likely going to be the reason I finally switch entirely over to linux.
I swapped to BeOS in 2002, then Microsoft killed it. Yes, I know about Haiku (I used to be a dev) but it's not the same. Never took a shine to Linux, but then I started with early Slackware and it sure was slack. p.s. Could someone please delete that f&*%ing 360 second delay. I'm tired of losing messages.

If the people renting our commercial building weren't 3 months behind in the rent I'd throw more at it. Maybe next week.

Relaunch, rebrand - you're being a bit pedantic there.
Anyhow I hope your judgement - and mine - bear that out, I now have 5,000,000 of them.
Just clarifying, as relaunch tends to indicate Dev walked away or something has changed in the code. OK, that's interesting. What I'd like to know is why they were down to 2 sat then. I know a little about: 1. Something happening at Cryptsy (but no details) 2. The old name being associated with a clown coin, and 3. Perhaps some of the better features having only just been completed Is there more to it than that? I mean, even AsiaCoin - which is a complete scam - is still at 11 sat.

I'm in for 6,000,000 now. Last mill at 12 sat, I'm horrified at what I paid for the rest.

Yeah...while your job is watching over other people's money they are tying to make, while others are trying to steal it, while trying to follow regulations, while you can't keep everyone happy no matter what....too much pressure for me. I would pick a small cabin in the woods over a dangling mansion.
Meh. I tried that, someone left a pair of goats in the yard then someone else broke in and the goats crapped everywhere. I didn't hear about it from the neighbours for 3 months. Unless you're there 24/7 *someone* is gonna mess up your life. Probably everything I own has been stolen, but the house is in New Zealand and I can't go there right now. Even living on a yacht sucks. I went ashore for my birthday and the anchor dragged, now I have a government order to haul out by next Friday because they consider it "unseaworthy." Dealing with people is a PITA generally.

Yeah, they're 19/20 again at 'trex. Should have bought another mill at 16.
