So in an anarcho-capitalistic society what do you do if ...

You are with a couple of people and one guy says he'll give you something if you do something, you do the thing and come back for his end of the contract.

He refuses and won't hold up his end what do you do?

NOOOOO, I missed pg 420 xD

Also this crash is due to the dwolla thing, if you think otherwise then that's cool too I guess, I for sure can't change your mindset.

But it's due to dwolla seizure.

That is all.

Can you guys not see why some guy googling you and your family might get someone a little angry. If you can't then just stop edging him on and Italian dude calm down pm a forum mod to delete the post or something ... ask nicely.
Everyone cool your jets.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Roger Ver and Jon Matonis pushed aside now that Bitcoin is becoming mainstream on: April 29, 2013, 06:57:21 AM
This disturbs me.

Idea..
Can we get roger and matonis on the press thing and put a disclaimer on the top of the page that says something like

none of these people speak for bitcoin officially but you can evaluate each of their views and come to a conclusion of "what is bitcoin" yourself

Or something like that

Just like a disclaimer that these potential interviewees are just people voicing what they think of bitcoin and is in no way official.

So press people can interview Jeff or Roger or both and get the word out about bitcoin to their respective audiences?

If control of bitcoin.org is actually dominated by a small group of men who aren't open minded and won't include a spectrum of beliefs on "their" website then I just lost a lot of faith in bitcoin. I hope you developers know forking the website just doesn't work and if you can't see that then ... I'm slightly more bearish long term than before reading all of this..

Ill register for github later if someone wants to and agrees with my idea feel free to bring it over to the github thread or request a pull for a disclaimer  ...

or something
im not sure all the way how github works but if the future of openess and fairness depends on it then ill have to learn quick.

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does BitSpend eliminate the need for converting merchants to Bitcoin? on: April 26, 2013, 05:34:44 AM
BitSpend it great idea (albeit a bit archaic) but still remains a single point of failure,

It currently is. Which is like MtGox being a single point of failure.

BitSpend seems like it requires such a small start up cost to get going that we will see more sites like that in the near future.

There is already bitsumo which does the same thing, though I have not tried them out yet.

as a community if we truly value decentralization we need to make the choice personally to not use mtgox and other single points of failure.

I'll try out bitsumo if I need to do something similar again. Haven't heard of them till now.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does BitSpend eliminate the need for converting merchants to Bitcoin? on: April 26, 2013, 05:32:46 AM
BitSpend is really awesome, I used their service recently they are quick, let you know whats going on and even have a funny/joking touch, yet were professional.

ie their "meet the team" thing has their baby pictures and other stuff that's goofy!  Cheesy
8  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Police State? on: April 25, 2013, 03:33:42 AM
No, you don't. Body armor, maybe. A swat team, once you've found him, if he won't come easy. Not tanks and door-to-door military-style sweeps.

Ok so body armor isn't being a solider, and what tanks? The SWAT team uses armored vehicles, they don't have tanks, tanks would imply they have weapons on the vehicle and used tracks.
Oh, we're getting pedantic about the definition of "tank," now, are we?

Very well, APC (still a military vehicle, btw).
As for the body armor,

OK:

NOT OK:

Those basically are the same just one is camo and one isn't.

Are we really comparing boston manhunt to Tiananmen Square, can we please re-read history and view these as two different things.

I still don't see a problem with this, I know you guys are probably hardcore left wing people and I am not hardcore right or left. I think they were justified Boston people say they were justified, if that is brainwashing then I am brainwashed but I will also defend your right to say what you want to say, and we agree to disagree.

I just want to leave this here...

http://youtu.be/7UZ10Y2LmnE?t=3m47s

If this doesn't make you proud of the police force for doing an amazing job, then you sir, shouldn't be living here, you should live on an island where you make the rules, cause you don't appreciate the freedoms you have, the loyalty to service these people are showing you and you just don't understand.

Personally I'm socially left and fiscally right.

They are two different things but is this not a small step in that direction?

I value my rights so much that I'm upset that they(our loyal police servicemen) are searching peoples houses regardless of their consent.

Do you not value your rights and freedoms? You say you do but it seems you couldn't give less of a fuck about this encroachment on our rights.

It's in the name of safety ... for the children. It always is "eye roll"
9  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Police State? on: April 25, 2013, 03:07:35 AM
You don't need tanks, you don't need military-style camo outfits, you don't need assault rifles.

But the guy had bombs, and assault rifles, so you want to have cops who are not properly trained to handle a very dangerous suspect?

Did I say anything about not training them? No. I believe I said things about not equipping them for going to war on the populace instead of capturing a fugitive. In fact, you quoted what I said. Read it again.

But you need to that type of equipment when someone is at that point, where they don't have any regard for public or law enforcement. plus you said just have cops looking in sewers and streets.

Look what ended up catching the guy ... a diligent citizen.

Does that not prove we don't need tanks and police in military style camo outfits?

Look what tanks and police in military style outfits do ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiananmen_Square_protests_of_1989#3_and_4_June:_Military_advances_to_Tiananmen_Square (warning link requires reading and learning to grasp what i'm trying to get at I believe you can do it though!)

Of course that could never happen in America though - this is true, but only true as long as people like mykrul and others exist.

If people like mykrul don't exist then it's only a matter of time.
10  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the Silk Road URL? on: April 25, 2013, 02:51:07 AM
SR is down due to a DoS attack, DPR himself said so on their forums. The link you posted(I can't read it) was probably right.

Also I have an issue with the ban if that guy indeed got banned, SR itself isn't illegal and browsing it isn't illegal either ... Not yet at least.

The worst kind of censorship is self censorship.

edit: read the rest of the posts, if it's theymos's decision I guess that's that.

Quote
False, belief that you can use them later for goods and services is what gives it its value.
And you can only use them for goods and services if there is someone there making the transaction work, i.e, miners.

That's how translations are processed but that isn't what makes a bitcoin valuable.

Sure an increase in difficulty makes it harder for an attacker so people may have more faith that their bitcoins will still be able to purchase goods and services in the future.
12  Economy / Speculation / Re: A New Indicator on: April 25, 2013, 01:46:51 AM
"since miners are what ultimately give bitcoin its value."

False, belief that you can use them later for goods and services is what gives it its value.

After watching the other wall charts/wall chart thread for a long time and noticing along with some other people that there was a 10 pages to 1 bitcoin ratio most of the time.

I think it's funny that that thread is now locked at 1200 posts and the price is right around 120, there's my observation.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Bitinstant OFAC Rule on: April 19, 2013, 07:26:02 AM
So what exactly happens is:
You enter name and DOB in,
Bitinstant has other company's api query the database thing
checks if you're good
if you're good then the purchase continues and nothing is saved at all, or logged?

Just want it from someone from the top that knows what actually happens...
so nothing is saved or logged and everything is purged? are you sure?
maybe I'm wearing a tinfoil hat but it's my right to wear it xD
Thanks,
Computerlamp

I was hoping we would be stable for a while ... oh well.

All the money that turned to fiat wants to get back in and some more from people who heard about bitcoin recently. Up we go
16  Economy / Speculation / Re: Headline: Bitcoin Buzz Draws Western Union, MoneyGram on: April 19, 2013, 04:10:03 AM
Sent them an e-mail. Any kind of integration with WU would be huge for bitcoin.

huge for bitcoin and huge for WU, and WU cares about being good for WU curious as to what your email was as they are already showing interest in btc.

This makes me excited!

19  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin's first major deflation event, and its consequences on: April 13, 2013, 03:28:40 PM
As usual I think the intellectuals in the community are over analyzing what is clearly a (Sling Blade reference) "It ain't got no gas in it"

It's only being used as a store of value because -> Merchants at large don't take it.
Merchants don't take it because -> the currency risk associated with a volatile commodity with no instant means of transfer into the fiat of your choice.
There's no means to transfer it into the fiat of your choice instantly because -> IT GOES AGAINST THE PLAN MAN!!!

In the end for bitcoin to move through this growing pain and reach adolescence someone (possibly coinseter.com) will have to give merchants the security of knowing they can instantly exchange the bitcoins received into fiat in their bank to pay overhead. At least until it reaches adulthood and they can pay their expenses in bitcoin.

Oh so the ability to change bitcoins to dollars instantly ... If only we had some sort of "bit pay" system ... Oh wait ... So what was the problem again?
