1  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTF] 8x stack of Bitburner Fury boards, heatsinks, fans and hardware incl. on: April 02, 2014, 09:46:07 PM
This guy is just terrible at auctions. He originally posted this auction in multiple places instead of just linking to it. Then he cancels this one to alter the terms instead of just answering shipping questions. Wow.

Switched to this pool yesterday, it's sexy.

4  Economy / Lending / Re: [BTCjam] Peg some payments to mtgoxusd. [ 5.32 BTC ] on: March 30, 2013, 08:50:13 PM
In that feature I included a vote so the lenders can decide if they want to let the borrower off the hook. I know it was naive of me to expect BTC to remain in the $10-$30 range. I'm just turning through options here. All my BTCjam listings are backed only by my own personal income which made sense in the $10-$30 range of BTC. What happens if BTC goes to $1000? .. where is that fine print at? I'm an individual not an HYIP and I never made the claim to be.

So as a borrower if you borrow 10 btc at $30 and it goes up to $90 and you didn't peg it to MTGOXUSD, you claim to be getting fucked.
As a lender if I loan you 10 btc at $90 and it drops and you repay it at $30 I'm fucked either way.
This is the perils of the btcjam system, there definitely shouldn't be a way to change the loan AFTER it is funded.
I loan BTC out on btcjam in the hopes that it will rise, if the value falls, it's pointless to me.
5  Economy / Lending / Re: [BTCjam] Peg some payments to mtgoxusd. [ 5.32 BTC ] on: March 30, 2013, 04:05:36 AM
Such a terrible interest rate to offer, especially tied to mtgox.
6  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Compensating miners on the wrong side of The Big Fork on: March 23, 2013, 05:34:17 AM
Gavin can do what he wants with his personal bitcoins, but those funds were donated to the Bitcoin Faucet with the understanding that they would be distributed to new Bitcoin users, not as a bailout for miners.

Misappropriation of donated funds, sounds very Wall Street like!

What is the power consumption across all of these units combined? Can you give us an idea of how much money you're looking to get for this?

10  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Check How Much This Sells for on eBay on: March 16, 2013, 04:24:14 AM
There's one of the same year available for $350, but it's graded. There's also an ungraded one labeled BU for $88, but it doesn't appear to be professionally graded. According to a numismatic forum, one in EF-45 is worth about $15. Many of the ones on eBay are either buy it now, or have no bids. It seems like this one could sell for about $60-70 ungraded, a bit more graded. Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for.

In my experience, looking at what people WANT for something gets you nowhere. I always just look at completed listings on eBay to gauge the value of something:

11  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM - Coinabul owe me 81btc on: March 13, 2013, 04:53:01 PM
So what I see from this thread is that if a company ONLY steals 80 or so BTC once in a great while, it's not a scam, it's just bad business practice.
How many times does this need to happen before people consider it a scam?

16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ASICs - Are they real?... on: February 16, 2013, 04:52:31 PM
They're real, but unless you're on the earliest of the early lists, trying to get one is pointless.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much is "a lot" of bitcoin? on: February 16, 2013, 06:12:45 AM
It's disheartening to get into bitcoin so late in the game. With ASICs coming out, it's completely unrealistic for anyone to try to get into mining.
Users with over 1k coins, and over 100k coins are the same users that got into the ASIC market when it was first announced.
It's turning out to be just like all other money in the world with the majority of it being controlled by the top few players.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Troubles with coinbase on: February 16, 2013, 06:03:15 AM
Yeah, I think if the price is adjusting so much on a minute to minute basis, having to wait for more than 10 minutes to get the coins you're buying makes it too risky to buy them right now.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Troubles with coinbase on: February 16, 2013, 05:31:47 AM
I've been hearing nothing but bad things about coinbase, seems like a good place to avoid.
20  Other / Beginners & Help / mtgox verification process on: February 16, 2013, 02:14:34 AM
I signed up for mtgox earlier this week and I attempted to get verified but my verification was denied.
How hard is it to get verified with them?

Reason they gave me:
Only complete, unedited documentation may be accepted.

What I submitted:
A picture of my driver's license
A picture of my electric bill I received 2 days before I signed up for the account

Issues maybe?
The last name on my electric bill is missing a letter (I have contacted the electric company about this multiple times but they never fix it).
My address on my license is not current.

Do either of these have anything to do with that?
I moved recently and updating my address is a hassle since I'll just have to renew this year anyway.
Should I submit a different bill or do I NEED for my ID to match the address I submitted?
