http://libbitcoin.dyne.org/ and http://sx.dyne.org/ - I'm British and London based.

Thanks for this. Can you provide a bit more information on what your organisation does and where it is based in the UK.

The key thing that I am still not clear on - and I think is key for retailers accepting Bitcoin - is what mobile clients are best and how does one use an iPhone to make payments?

I agree - this is a major one that I have encountered as well. In Berlin, many merchants just post a big QR code on a piece of paper next to their cash register and keep a laptop running with Blockchain.info open and wait until the transaction comes in. Others have even been using iPads (also, just logging into Blockchain.info).

now, for their customers using an iPhone, not sure myself- but I am going to ask around on Saturday (in Berlin - anyone come by if you get a chance: http://bitcoinexaminer.org/bxb-2-bitcoin-exchange-berlin-will-have-a-second-round/) and report back Smiley

Thanks, Jόrgen

Thanks for looking into this.

Haven't tried them but looks tasty

Great find. They are starting to come out of the wood work now. This looks like two separate entries.

I'll have to keep my wife away from this one!

Wife + chocolate = no bitcoins Sad

Nice!! I want to do the same for my region - are you aware of any guides/experiences on how to to "sell" the benefits of Bitcoin to various types of businesses (online, offline, industry-specific, ie. coffee shops, hardware stores, electronics retailers, etc.) - is there maybe a thread on bitcointalk?

Thanks, Jόrgen

I was trying to make a PDF to hand out to people, like a one side A4/A5 explanation of the benefits of Bitcoin and how to accept it for your business, but I've not had the time yet.

The key thing that I am still not clear on - and I think is key for retailers accepting Bitcoin - is what mobile clients are best and how does one use an iPhone to make payments?

Any advice on this welcome.

629  Economy / Service Discussion / List of UK organisations who take Bitcoin on: July 24, 2013, 11:17:09 AM
I have set up this thread to record all the UK organisations that are taking Bitcoin. This first post will be regularly edited to keep the list up to date.

I find it frustrating that I cannot spend my BTC in more places in the UK! So I have personally been targeting local organisations to tell them about Bitcoin and provide them with support to start accepting it; many of the names listed here are a direct result of my efforts mainly in Brighton and London.

I hope this list will encourage other organisations in the UK to start accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment. So if you take Bitcoin and are not listed here please post and I will add you. We want to hear your story.

A charity that works at the University incubation center with my company is thinking about taking donations in Bitcoin. I've been giving them some advice and pointed them at this thread which I've only just discovered myself.

They have just made a white list request in the Newbies forum and hopefully should post here shortly.

Their charity can be found at virtualdoctors.org.

633  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Aluminum Casascius Coins at the Bitcoin Foundation Conference on: July 21, 2013, 08:31:22 AM

Mike: what is the gold coloured one in the above photo?

I have some of them that are colored (anodized) - gold, green, blue, purple, and red.  I only got a few bags of each color (though I got quite a few extras of the gold)

They cost a bit more to color though.  It's about 18 cents more a coin.  I got them in the hopes I could laser engrave on the back of them (the bare coins just reflect the laser off and it does nothing).  For those who the extra cost is worth it, they're available.

Mike: I've sent you an email about this - can I check you've got it as I want to append some of these to my order before you ship if that's ok.
634  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitMit - is traffic being redirected for nefarious reasons? Phishing attack? on: July 21, 2013, 12:10:30 AM
CloudFail seems borked right now.  I can't get to Bitfunder or BTC Guild.

Ah, thanks for that. That could fit. Chrome's more detailed expliantion states:

Quote
...Another possible reason is that the server is set up to return the same certificate for multiple websites, including the one you are attempting to visit, even though that certificate is not valid for all of those websites. Google Chrome can say for sure that you reached ssl2305.cloudflare.com, but cannot verify that that is the same site as www.bitmit.[]net which you intended to reach. If you proceed, Chrome will not check for any further name mismatches.

Could simply be a configuration error on their part then...

Service is completely restored and all features should work fine again.

As some of you already noticed we added a new ddos protection layer to our site to reduce down times.

I am sorry for our bad communication in this matter and problems you were facing because of this.

Hi, when I can no longer 'change' or 'delete' a message written to a seller on the Message Board, does that indicate the seller has read the message?

Yes it does.

Been having issues connecting to BitMit from a number of different locations over the last week. As of last night, when I last checked, Chrome reports the following:

Quote
You attempted to reach www.bitmit.net, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as ssl2305.cloudflare.com. This may be caused by a misconfiguration on the server or by something more serious. An attacker on your network could be trying to get you to visit a fake (and potentially harmful) version of www.bitmit.net.

You should not proceed, especially if you have never seen this warning before for this site.

Internet explorer is also reporting issues:

Quote
The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address.

Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server.

However downforme reports the site is up: http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/bitmit.net. But I'm not sure if they are just testing for a ping response (or similar) from the domain.

Is someone trying to subvert traffic to the site? Possibly for nefarious activities such as phishisng. Or is it just down. If it's to do with SSL certificates it's not really an error I feel comfortable ignoring.

Can anyone better at diagnosing this type of issue provide some insight.

637  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitMit - is traffic being redirected for nefarious reasons? Phishing attack? on: July 20, 2013, 11:35:07 PM
Nefarious reasons. Google sucks. In the least possibly polite sense of the term "sucks".

Edit: possibly more to it than I thought, Firefox is flagging it as an "Untrusted Domain". Google still sucks, however.

Can you give more details on what you mean?

Internet explorer is also reporting issues with the site's security:

Quote

You are able to move your own posts, if you look to the bottom left of any post you've made you'll see an option to move it.
