41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: old thread, moved on: October 15, 2013, 11:03:24 AM
i can't setup tekcoin on linux no matter what i try.  i tired to copy the db from windows which is correct, but the databases must be mismatched?  This is simply an issue of compiling with a different dependency?

*edit* I can't even sync my windows wallet and my linux wallet directly.  They connect as peers, but data is refusing to transfer.  is the source code going to be update do fix this problem any time soon?  This is stupid, this problem has been on going for far to long.  The fork is almost 42000 blocks now!

I am still waiting for my batch 7 refund.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shitcoin Shit-Pipe : 50 Million Shitcoins Per User on: October 08, 2013, 07:44:04 PM
I've decided to give back some SHIT and give each addresses a single SHIT (at the cost of 1000 shits to send!).

Unfortunately the shitcoin network took a shit and rejected all of those transactions. Sad

Um.. its 2013, does deepbit still not have stratum support? O_o;
46  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [65000 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: September 22, 2013, 03:37:46 PM
I'm not "pool hopping", I've setup CGMiner to split my 12 Gh between Slush and (currently) BTCGuild.  So I'm currently still mining with Slush with roughly 6 Gh and roughly 6 Gh going towards BTCGuild.

Is this a viable way to run one miner? Who knows for sure....

In my experience split mining, i make crap on BTCGuild regardless of the situation or hash rate.  if you want to use a backup pool, I recommend 50BTC.  I wish i'd mined 50/50 last night, but its best to throw 100% at a pool and stick with it to help increase the pools luck.

yeah, looks good now.

Wish FAQBot would show back up on IRC.

Okay, invalid address stuff is happening again slush. (man i hope you read this, xHire looks away)

To everyone that is just now reading this, this happened yesterday too.  Just ignore it and let slush fix it, everything should be fine.  Payouts will likely be delayed.
49  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Preferred pool for very small new miner on: September 19, 2013, 01:18:02 PM
I've stuck to slush pool as my primary pool for a long time now.  While other pools offer better interfaces (like 50BTC and BTCGuild),  I have consistently managed better day-to-day average payouts on slush vs 50BTC/BTCGuild.  My backup pool is 50BTC, and BTCGuild is my 3rd.  I am still testing other pools as I find time, but even when slush has 80% luck, i still manage payouts equal to what I get on BTCGuild.

The problems people have with slush are related to wanting to mine alt-coins, cause they need to wait until the end of the round to leave, or risk losing all earnings do to the scoring system.  In such situations, 50BTC would be my current choice if you want to pop out and mine alt-coins.

Slush, if you read this, can you have FAQBot rejoin the IRC channel.  He parted when the chaos broke out yesterday.

Lots of users dropping into IRC chat.  All users are having the same problem atm, we have informed slush about the invalid address issue.

*edit* okay, we're seeing the confirmation errors too...

Did anyone get this working on Cubieboard or Cubieboard2?  I read someone was testing it out, but they've been rather quiet.

I've posted a new beta v3.1 that removes the hard coded share values. Share value now only reported on block summary.

I've also created a single dropbox folder for all my releases now - so only a single link to check:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/sq24hzo993afy9c/l7icP0KiuM

No performance difference to beta v3 only the display update.
I would really like to get this running under native linux. Can you provide the source so we can try to compile it under linux?

Thanks.

Source is forked on github:
https://github.com/rdebourbon/jhPrimeminer

I wanted to let you know rdebourbon, but after using Beta 3.1, my performance plummeted (like, 0.6 Val/h in 8 hrs testing, all other chain values appeared normal vs beta 3 O_o) and I had to go back to Beta 3.  I know you said you only made display changes, but my cpu's performance can't possibility be attributed to bad luck with that kind of drop.  I changed it back to beta 3 and my performance immediately recovered.  I used the exact same .bat file on both setups.

Avast flags everything as a virus.  I really have no clue why anyone uses it.  flags cgminer, now rde's build... prob cause some goofball ran it on a corporate network and another admin picked it out.

I started using rdebourbon's beta 3 yesterday under Windows, and the performance on my A10-4600m is threw the roof now:

Code:
Val/h:21.572 - PPS:10778 - SPS:22.929 - ACC:473
 Chain/Hr:  4:  2228.14  5:   191.39  6:    18.50  7:     1.64  8:     0.00 9:     0.18 10:     0.00 11:     0.00 12:     0.00
Code:
Total/Valid shares: [ 207 / 201 ]  -  Max diff: 9.84485
 6ch/h:    18.55 - 203 [ 48 / 39 / 116 ] - Val: 20.300
 7ch/h:     1.64 - 18 [ 3 / 2 / 13 ] - Val: 18.000
 8ch/h:     0.00 - 0 [ 0 / 0 / 0 ] - Val: 0.000
 9ch/h:     0.18 - 2 [ 1 / 1 / 0 ] - Val: 200.000
Share Value submitted - Last Block/Total: 0.000000 / 32.708984
Code:
Number of mining threads: 4
Sieve Size: 1000000
Sieve Percentage: 20
Round Sieve Percentage: 70
Prime Limit: 400000
Primorial Multiplier: 53
L1CacheElements: 128000
Total Runtime: 0 Days, 10 Hours, 57 minutes, 19 seconds
Total Share Value submitted to the Pool: 32.70898

Taking to rdebourbon and AeroCloud was a huge help.  rde's build is great because once you know how to tune, you know what to look for, and those new values of SPS and ACC is a huge help.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM]unofficial jhPrimeminer thread on: August 19, 2013, 02:08:06 PM
I have quite a few computers mining primecoin now - from Dual Core Intel chips to 3rd gen i5/i7's, and even older dual processor quad core intel servers.  I thought I would add a new AMD 8320 to the mix.  8 cores running at least at 3.5 ghz should work out fairly well, right?

Well my first problem is that the 7.1 avx version crashes.  No big deal, I can just run the regular version.  Problem 2 is that each time it finds a share, it gives the message Invalid Share - Invalid data time overflow.  Then I moved to the original one from ypool - same problem, but in addition to the data time overflow messages, some times I get other ones like duplicate share.  So I downgraded to the v6 version.  Although I can run both the AVX and normal versions of v6 - and my shares are actually accepted - my latest problem is that it seems VERY slow.  I am getting about 1,600-2,000 4 chains/hr.  My other computers are averaging 4,000 to 6,000 4 chains an hour.

The only setting I am using is the number of threads and it matches the processor cores - 8.  Is anyone else using this processor - FX-8320 and is having better luck than I am?  When my value per hour is around 2 and I have other computers that are over 20, something just doesn't seem right.

-Randy

I have the same problem on my A10-4600m.  The best version that I have found is V6 AVX.

Code:
Val/h 4.464 - PPS: 12620 - 4ch/h: 2168.17 - 5ch/h: 164.26 - 6ch/h: 14.46 - Last
4ch/h: 2244.95 - Last 5ch/h: 897.98

I'm actually getting about 25000PPS, but I can't get that performance with Pale Moon x64 running with a butt load of tabs.

I tweaked the heck out of of 7.1 AVX and hit 30000 PPS, but I couldn't get my 4ch/h to the same level that I get with V6 AVX.  With the same settings, V6 non-AVX is slower, so AVX is making a positive difference for me.

-s 200000 -d 16 -t 4 is my command line (I do only have 4 cores), and I must disable multiplier tuning right away, and set it to 73 to get this performance.  I can't manage anything better with this and Windows 7.  I wonder if my machine would run better with Windows 8 (since Windows 7 seems to be hitching all of the time since I downgraded???).  Also, I open up task manager and change the process priority to normal (setting it to above normal lags the hell out of everything and doesn't seem to produce a real increase in performance).

I wonder if we can compile a few versions that are optimized for AMD?  Would that make a difference?
58  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: ASIC and FPGA miners, which pool did you pick ? on: August 14, 2013, 12:00:02 PM
4 block erupters here.

I mine on slush as my primary, and 50BTC as my backup.

I manage way better payouts over 24 hours on slush, and even when slush's luck is about 90%, i still get similar payouts as I do on 50BTC and BTCGuild in the same time frame.

Awesome, i'll give this a good ol' knock around.

I had another great idea for a feature.  If you could add a button press, that'd just output all current settings (maybe even in command line format), that'd be killer.  We could tweak it, then output a useable command line to setup those settings in a .bat instantly.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM]unofficial jhPrimeminer thread on: August 12, 2013, 11:27:35 AM
Hi,
A minor release to fix some of the problems we encountered lately and some features mostly for advanced users. As usual this version is not well tested, (time issue). The source is on github.
1. Implemented some kind of heartbeat monitoring, if a thread get stuck it's automatically restarted. Hopefully this will resolve the problem some of you reported that after a while the mining speed is dropped.
2. By default the initial cache auto tuning is disabled. It can be enabled using the "-tune true" command line parameter or by pressing the 'c' button in the miner.
3. The size of L1CacheElements that the above mentioned auto tuning used to set, is by default 256000 and can be set using the '-c' parameter (must be between 64000 - 2000000 and multiply of 32)
4. The auto tuning for the round sieve percentage can be also disabled by specifying a fixed value for the primorialMultiplier with the '-m' parameter (must be between 5 - 1009 and should be a prime number)

I intentionally left out these new parameters from the help because these are intended for more advanced users.

I won't post the AVX version because I think it has no performance gain. In case somebody saw any improvement with AVX let me know.
32bit - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1189851/jhPrimeminer-GMP-v7-32bit.zip

Edit: the 32 bit version is broken, don't use it until I'll find out what's the problem with it.

Please post an AVX version.  I am seeing a serious reduction in performance in PPS (and in turn, chaining) on my A10-4600m.
